Mine just arrived. I have not picked it up yet. What is the minimum pull weight on your Trigger? It’s not advertised anywhere and I’m very curious. Thank you.
Can't wait for them to put out a barreled action in 7PRC for the premiere line. Would throw it into a XRS chassis that is proven to take the recoil. Went with the HMR Premiere in 300PRC and found the stock needed a lot of modification to work with the recoil of that chambering - it may work fine for a lesser recoil cartridge but not so much with the magnums. Mine was binding up on the rear action screw due to a crooked drilled back pillar and there was slop in the recoil lug (pocket was oversized) that you could see marring the side of it. Shoots great (1 inch groups at 300 yards) now after the pillars were redrilled, whole action was bedded, and front of the stock was reinforced with carbon fiber. In hindsight I would get the Barreled action and an MDT Chassis. It will end up being lighter and more adjustable in the end without needing to do all of the custom work. Bergara is known for their barrels.. Stick with the barrel and go with a someone that is known for their chassis. That's my experience with the platform.
I bought this in 6.5 Creedmoor. It’s really fantastic and great on the range and hunting. The trigger is adjustable and I found the lightest setting works great at range (~2lbs), but a bit heavier is better in the woods when gloves and adrenaline are added.
I love my 308 crest. I get the best groups with the 150gr Remington core lokt psp. The size, weight, and trigger pull are a killer combo for me. Great gun.

Unfortunately its not interchangeable with a standard AICS pattern magazine so I'm stuck with it. Had to shim the sides of it with electric tape to keep it from rattling around when being carried on a hunt since modifying magazines is Illegal in Canada.
The new crest carbon fixed what I griped about on the crest. It loses a lb with the carbon barrel, a m5 bottom metal so you can either have the DBM or hinged floor plate - something I appreciate for a true hunting rig. My only hold up with Bergara recently is the QC between models. They seem to either shoot lasers or not group at all. Hoping they fix that moving forwert
I bought the 2020 redline,in 308. Absolutely amazing,20" barrel and trigger -tec trigger. Shoots so well. You or anyone would love this rifle. Good job.
Thank you for including how the safety works in relation to the action and trigger. I prefer a bolt that locks while on safety so that it doesn’t come open in the brush or crawling on a stalk, or just packed on my side. The bolt lift’s accidentally fairly regularly with my Ruger American, though I like the rifle otherwise. Three position safeties are best, but i tolerate the 2 position with locking bolt on the Tikka because I like the rifle so much otherwise.
my crest in 6.5 creedmoor would not group better than 2 inches, match load did 3 inches, removed action from stock and screws were not evenly or accurately torqued, removed very rough paint build up at action contact points. properly and evenly retorqued action screws and now getting 0.5 tp 0.8 inch groups with 4 different factory loads. my b14 hmr shoots just as good.
I was looking at the wilderness but a lot of people were complaining about the weight. The crest is supposed to be almost 3lbs lighter but with a 2 inch shorter barrel. I’m not sure which I’m going to get in 7mm prc. I like a 24” for long range target shooting, but I have seen videos of the crest banging steel at 1200 yards. So that 22” inch barrel may be fine
@@stevenwalker9013 the HMR is definitely close to 3 lbs heavier than the Crest. I haven't shot a 7PRC Crest, but the 6.5 PRC is pretty ridiculous! Let us know what you decide on and what you think.
Depending on the caliber your crest is, MDT makes AICS magazines and with the right caliber, they are flush 3 rounders. My Crest 6.5CM is flush mag with MTD's 3-rd mag.
Great video and review! One thing you could add to your rifle reviews is degrees of bolt lift. I’m a fan of rifles like X-bolts, Americans, and Tikkas that have 60-75 degrees of lift, whereas rifles like vanguards and 700s have 90 degree lifts. I think the Bergaras are 90? 90s are usually easier to lift, but your hands end up into the scope, and the lower lifts are opposite.
My 308 crest had a hard time shooting sub moa at first. I was kinda disappointed until after about 100 rounds the groups tightened down more and more. Now it shoots half inch groups with nosler e tip and about 3/4 moa with any load i ever shot. It seems to like 150grain bullets. Cheap norma tactical 147 gets me 3/4 inch groups on a bad day and half inch on a good day. Can’t complain!
@@ReviewThisThing I am looking to purchase a new target/ hunting rifle. I am not a competitive shooter, I just enjoy getting out with friends, my thoughts are on 6.5 prc, 7mm prc, 300 prc, I like heavy barrels, I was intrigued with the impulse, Bergara HMR pro, Tika T3
@paulmerritt5318 we did a video on the HMR (not pro). It’s worth a look if you don’t mind a heavy gun. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PnxmMVxjSWg.htmlsi=0mVy1R4e6K--tW9-
Love to let y’all fire this older fn special police heavy barrel .308…Macmillan stock..bedded mod70 action and base from factory…got my 2nd gen 3x15 viper in lowest rings possible and made a foam cheek riser with black 100mph tape to match the all black and give it that marine corps look just in black..it and my prc waypoint I can’t get enough of as they both shoot well under 1” with my loads but fn will with factory 168gmm…happy holidays to y’all.. Matt
Hi there can you tell me the speeds you were getting from the precision hunter eldx 143 grains , I have the same gun but with the 20” barrel feel I have lost a bit
This one is 20” as well. I said it wrong. I think we talk a lot more about speeds in this video - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4LgBhF-mZdA.htmlsi=48H1tCpWdFKgVl35
Probably ammo. There's a ton of cheap crappy 308/7.62 ammo out there. Also alot of cheap ammo is 7.62x51 ammo NOT .308 I have found that .308 ammo shoots way better than 7.62 ammo and I will nowadays sort out 7.62 brass and only reload/shoot .308 stamped brass in my bolt actions
Just bought my first CVA Cascade short barrel (18") in .308. With the first box of ammo I purchased. It shot a .70 3 shot group. I'd say this gun is not a so so shooter. These CVA's are supposed to be entry level compared to the Bergara B14. But they all have the great Bergara barrels. I'm now sold on anything Bergara produces.
I had to go back and watch a couple of the other videos we made to see for sure. It shoots pretty consistently 125-175fps slower than the box's listed speed. With that 20" barrel, at least 100fps is to be expected. And then, of course, manufacturer's testing is done is perfect environments. Here is the main video I'm referencing. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4LgBhF-mZdA.htmlsi=E0j1HW6xz7FVV6e-
I just ordered one in 7mm PRC a week ago, getting very excited. Do you know which screws the scope rail takes? 6-48 or 8-40? I am trying to go ahead and get all my accessories lined up for when it finally gets here.
The b14 uses 6-48. If you’re using a pic rail get one with a recoil lug. If you’ll also epoxy bed it, which is easy, you can kiss goodbye any/all scope issues you’ve ever had. Considering you mount the scope in the rings properly.
And be damn if you don’t have the lht I’m wantin on it..! That’s what’s goin on my waypoint..$100 Walmart simmons 4.5x14x40 from 99 shot 1 hole groups and hit a 20oz lid@254yrds with my 95gr 6.5prc v max goin 3625fps….it deletes jugs
Still not for me. I prefer a Teika and for the price I can get a Teika and add a carbon stock, and the only thing missing is a threaded barrel and those are very lightweight. About a pound less. You should get a regular teal light in 308 and review that.
@@ReviewThisThing you should do a build project. Start with a basic tikka compact. Then have it cut and threaded for a suppressor. Try groups before and after. You could get several videos out of that project.
Why you are always reviewing Foreign made rifles? Turkish made Mossberg, Spanish made Bergara! Despite knowing the fact that it copied Remington 700. Why don't you review an original USA made Remarms Remington. They are making great rifles now. Please get a new Remington 700 and review it. This B14 is a Piece of crap period. Many of my friends had terrible experience with it. It's just pure hype and fake paid reviews. Proud Remington 700 owner.
I will never own a Bergara. Their quality is just not good enough. They have many issues due to poor QC and manufacturing. After all they are just a hyped up Remington clone. No thanks.
