44:30 - Regarding the teachers telling kid where they "belong to" professionally, this is absolutely true. I can say from my experience and it is because the parents were either not so involved in the child's life and if they were, they did not speak German. Most Teachers tend to recommend physical professions to foreign children even if the child was very good in grades or is good at school.

I hear that. Jessie from episode 2 said the same thing and he went much more in depth with what you are saying. Check it out if you have a minute .. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fx7MH7WT_zI.html Very insightful.

@@TheNameisPY I do watch all your episode's bro :). I can say that things are slowly changing for the generation that grew up here. They know what we were missing and are trying to do better than what our parents did.

Yemison : Why? Because the teachers think the kids are intellectually inferior or this is the Germans path to a successful life?
@Yemison_coc
@Yemison_coc Месяц назад
@@marvelouss719 The school system is based on three models: Hauptschule, Realschule and Gymnasium. The children who graduate from the Hauptschule are more likely to be assigned to Jobs For example, carpenters, gardeners, etc. If someone at the Hauptschule passes the average grade, they are transferred to the Real and so on. Black children who are over-qualified are nevertheless told that they should pursue professions such as gardener, carpenter or painter.

Concerning the jobs I think most ppl that came over from Ghana have the difficulty with the language in the beginning and they mainly come for greener pastures. Their family is looking up to them and is depending on them. Because of this pressure they tend to take on jobs that doesn’t require a lot of interaction with ppl because they don’t speak the language. Time then goes by and they are stuck in the job for years. The job is paying them well , it is taking care of themselves and their family. They become content with it which is very Ghanaian. They start a family and they don’t have time for themselves, as in to go to language school. Also we can’t really compare the development of Africans or Ghanaians in Germany to the UK. The UK had windrush so Africans and Caribbeans have been in the UK for a long time. That is the same reason why Turkish people are very well established in Germany because they have been here for a long time. They migrated to Germany after the war due to scarcity of workers. So they have been here for generations. That is why you have Turkish doctors, lawyers, shops everywhere. Ghanaians on the other hand,haven’t been here for so long. But I will believe with time, we will get there. Especially outside of Hamburg a littoral German Ghanaian kids are doing great. Nice interview 👏🏾more of these.

Thank you very much. Thank you for watching. I agree with you. I do think however that Africans in Germany are in a unique position to start building for themselves. I think at this point we know what the deal is and they should have seen the examples, challenges and triumphs of Africans in places like UK and US. I think they should be carving out their own experiences based on the examples. there is a lot of work to do. But I see a split. Some people have adopted Germany as their home and want to build a life for the community in Germany others are unwilling to adopt it as home and stick to their bubble. i think the dream to return back home holds them back from committing to a thriving Black community in Germany or perhaps they dont feel empowered enough to go against the push backs such as racism in Germany. What do you think?

What are clicks in the church?

Cliques meaning groups. Basically they divide themselves into groups by country. So you find the Nigerians sticking with Nigerians etc.
