Thats already been done. We need new characters, Kyle Katarn, Dash Rendar, Fenn Rau, Clan Wren Mandalorians, Emperor Vitiate with sons, Tarre Vizsla, with many others. Rereleases or new molding of already released characters is just overdoing it.

I've been collecting Star Wars action figures since 07. From the 30th anniversary, Saga, Legacy, TVC, Black Series and Clone Wars. I can honestly say it was better before Disney bought Lucasfilm, I remember seeing many different characters on the store shelves and now that Disney got a hold of it we get very few new characters and a whole lot of repaints and repacks. The 6-ft rat is the problem with them telling what Hasbro can and can't make. I just saw at Walmart the Black Series Acolyte figures and they've been sitting there for weeks now with only one or two being sold out of their little display. Plus all all the 5 point articulated Star Wars figures that never sell. With all the figures that end up at Ollie's I wouldn't blame Hasbro for getting out of the deal.

Hasbro has the ability to slap Kenner on every box they want for that nostalgia. Disney is not gonna want to lose that angle. I think it comes down to letting Hasbro gather consumer data and make the figures that people want and Disney getting out of their way on anything other than new media tie in waves

I dont know if i could blame Hasbro for wanting out of the contract, hasbro knows what figures will sell and a good idea what real star wars fans would love to see and Disney has them tied up in their unpopular new media shows and strict release windows... seems like they're not allowed to do what they want to do to appease star wars fans and collectors with Disney overlords holding them back..

I have a plastics engineering degree and have a bit of experience with plastic injection molding. Typically when a customer switches manufacturing suppliers, all of the molds for parts for that customer will also move to the new supplier. Since Disney is the customer and Hasbro is the supplier, Hasbro doesn't own molds since these manufacture Disney product, the molds would move on to the new supplier. With that said it would be a very simple process for a new manufacturer to receive in all of these molds and start making the normal 6" scale we have been getting from Hasbro since they would likely have all of the Hasbro molds shipped to them. All they have to do is load them in their machines and make the product.

I mean, that would depend entirely on the terms of the contract, no? I find it hard to believe that Disney would own the molds for the Marvel Legends Bucky Cap body, for example. It's just a generic male action figure mold with no discernable copyright material molded into it. I also HIGHLY doubt another toy company would use, nonetheless evolve and further develop, Hasbro's molds, even if that was possible.

@@FalconsTech You are right, that would depend on the contract, but I think this is the most likely case that Hasbro doesn't own molds. Also, Hasbro I'm sure outsources the actual mold building, so it wouldn't be crazy for these to transfer to another company. This stuff happens all the time in my experience.

@@AtomicPharoah Because other toy companies have their own lead designers and their own way of doing things. There is still a creative element to making toys. Using another company's molds means you're effectively locked into doing things that way for the foreseeable future. Yes, there are only so many ways to make a 6" humanoid action figure. But every toy company has their differences.

Also Canadian here, our Walmart's are a joke when it comes to Black series.... Toys R Us can be good, (not alot of luck here in New-Brunswick) but GameStop seems to be getting some nice inventory here sometimes.

Here in Ontario, the Toys R Us’s and Gamestops are the only places to find new figures, but even then it’s hit or miss. All 4 Walmarts near me have the same Lando and Saw figures on the racks for full price for over a year now.

It's all about the prequels and original trilogy for me with a bit of Clone Wars in the mix. I'll buy those figures. I've not bought any Disney Star Wars figures in any lines apart from the original Hot Toys Rey and BB-8 before I realised we'd been fooled. Sorry Hasbro, not sorry Disney

I've pretty much stopped buying Star Wars figures. I used to collect one of every Black Series figure, but once they started making exclusives that were more expensive and/or hard to find and I have to pay a scalper if I want to keep collecting one of each, my interest died. The other thing they've done was release a dozen Mandos and a dozen Vaders and 5 Cad Banes or whatever... who has money or space for that? And, where's the cantina aliens in Black Series scale, or all of the denizens of Jabba's Throne Room? Instead they're making Acolyte figures which are going to sit and rot. The garbage shows and films Disney has produced is half the problem and the people making the decisions at Hasbro as to which figures they make is the other half. It's fixable, but not with the same people at each company who created the problems to begin with.

Hasbro flooded the pegs with key characters, but at the same time they release new media characters over characters that collectors want. And with the inflation going on and raising the price 3 times a year. 2022 I believe 6 in characters was 19.99. The parks I seen from Disney they have been getting less figures to sale, and even marvel been selling less in retail in person and moved some of there products to online.

I'd be completely out if McFarlane got the license. I won't start a 7" collection, and I don't like his lack of attention to scale. His DC figures are all over the place, with various characters towering over others. Hell, Batman doesn't even scale with other Batman figures! Some are closer to 8", while others are barely 7". It's insane.

Big corporations like Hasbro are always considering every scenario. Do we buy this company? Do we sell to this other company. Do we kill this line? Do we invest more into this other line? So, when a license renewal comes up that costs hundreds of millions of dollars a year just to maintain, a company like Hasbro is going to fully investigate what it would mean to renew and not renew. I still think there is a greater than 50% chance that Hasbro renews their Disney licenses anyway, but I also think the chances of them not renewing are the highest they've ever been. It's obvious that Star Wars products aren't selling well. Even though prices have gone up, the last year or two has seen less value in the box (less articulation = less parts, and fewer paint apps). Reducing what goes into the box while raising prices will maintain, or maybe even increase, profit margins. If the cost reductions to the line still aren't enough for the bean counters, and Disney won't budge on their terms, Hasbro will be forced to cut and run.

Alot of the figures some areas get well don't always get or they sell out before I can even get a shot at them. The Vader with the busted mask. Totally missed out on him, and you buy him on the aftermarket is a ridiculous price.

they must stop making non-sellable star wars character or REDUNDANT characters, like Leia, Luke, Han solo, Darth Vader, Fin and other and new star wars movie characters. stop making those non profit character. just make some MORE CLONES and STORMTROOPERS and CS DROIDS, and made some CAPTAIN'S AND COMMANDER or OFFICERS and VEHICLE like AT-AT and other for 6inches figures from the prequal and original movies too and stop doing double pack characters just wasting your figures. I loved black series and I don't want them to be canceled. but they must listen what the fans really want. they must do some survey to be able to know what characters the fans like to have. and please do survey born on 70's, 80's and early 90's because we are the one's who really enjoy the star wars originals and prequel movies.

Tbh I think Hasbro will continue the license, and frankly I want them to, we’re in the golden age of Star Wars Black Series and knowing that the shows are gonna be less and less frequent, that frees up the line a lot more for more figures. Plus movies are actually returning and more people watch those to clear out the new figures (assuming they don’t over produce like TFA and RO waves)

Having just revamped packaging, seems weird to be bailing, especially where quality is consistently improving. I think Marvel Legends is a real drain on Hasbro, since the heydays of the MCU, their figures choices have been a lot less engaging. I hope Black Series keeps going strong!

Tbh hasbro should buy Lucasfilm, not that they’re great but probably better than what we’ve gotten from the Disney-Kennedy shit machine. Also, Mattel sucks ass, let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

I think if Hasbro didn’t do such a crappy job listening to its fan base it would have done better but shoot Disney took a beating as far as merchandising they have made horrible decisions as the toys and shows go so it’s bound to echo … if they do stop I’m not very surprised . The vaders are repeats of the early bird Vader all the newer ones are selling …any clones except the bad batch seem to be solid sellers and we have yet to have a Kaminoian ,a Geonosian , a Techno union , a Munilist or Krill. But hey we did get tons and tons of Acolyte figures outta no where when other figures take ages and are poor repaints and repacks of old figures ….just saying …

The three lines I do collect are McFarlane DC multiverse Jazwares AEW and Star Wars black series. So it would be interesting if Star Wars moved to either of those two that's if Hasbro gave up the license. And the McFarlane DC figures aren't bad as they have improved a lot. And the Jazwares AEW figures one thing I like about them is they are easy to swap pieces of the figures although the head scans need real improvement for figures.

As much as I love the line. There’s a selfish reason for me in it of wanting to end the line but I also understand why people don’t want it to. For me, I kinda wanna phase myself out of collecting, solely for the fact that most characters I love I have now already and I don’t want to be tempted to buy more unnecessary ones for me. But, on the other hand I totally get why people want them to keep going Black series has been on an absolute roll with these figs! So end of the day for me I’m okay with either or.

That’s fair. We thought it would be a fun conversation but I see your point about perpetuating rumors. As far as the likelihood of it happening from a business standpoint, it is possible though. “The Big Bang Theory” was CBS’s most popular and they had to end up canceling it because it cost too much to pay the actors. Things like this happen all the time.

Yeah if they keep making their fucking cash cow figures exlcusives and almost impossible to get because said exclusive retailers only beleive in 1 or 2 restocks every HALF century where 90% of buyers are just scalpers and where half the time the buys or pre orders arent even honored. Seriously absolutely 0 reason a cash cow figure like Clone Wars Anakin and Obi wan should be impossible to find exclusives, and same goes for some of the most popular characters point BLANK like fives and Echo, and god only KNOWS why army builders like Appo or the 501st 2 pack are exclusives. Like seriously not just as collectors but what kids are even REASONABLY able to get their hands on these things. Every kid will want an Anakin or Obi Wan and random foot soldiers but its almost like Hasbro is fucking ALLERGIC to money and ONLY wants to give easy money cash cow figures to retaliers who cant be bothered to do more than a MINISCULE amount of stock
