I own a 2024 M1000RR....so I have been watching every bit of information out there on all these failures (I have reached out to guys who had issues as well). The breakin, as defined by BMW, says that your breakin rev limiter can be removed between 350-750 miles and oil is changed. NONE of them were done before this (EVEN Motomillions was done after 350). The motor on the single R is NOT the same as the double R, Calimoto was a rod failure so its different than the others. With Motomillions, his was Brentuned, and his limiter was moved, and he had a single over-rev of 250 RPM.... We know of at least one that failed that had literally JUST completed his breakin period and had everything still stock on the bike...they found metal in the oil pan, and it was a failed bearing. IMHO, there is a possible bad batch of bearings or there is an issue with how owners are breaking in the Double R motor, with the 2 ring pistons there is a critical break in procedure. With the single R, the only known issues are the coils failing and the water pump issues that plague all european bikes (Ducati has same exact problem). The biggest issue that I see are dealers that deny a warranty claim if you have tuned the bike...whether it was the cause of failure or not....experiences have varied. AFAIK, Motomillions was the only motor that was denied motor replacement... The reliability of BMW IMHO is BEYOND good...look at how many are out there with 20-30k on them and are still in perfect running order and then look at the owners profile...I see so many that are simply ABUSED IMHO and are still rock solid. It seems like BMW is the brand that everyone likes to rev the crap out of at bike nights and try to watch flames come out the exhaust, etc.. I have seen major failures on every manufacturers bikes...I saw a Honda triple R with complete motor failure in the first 200 miles and the owner fighting to get it covered....it happens...and I dont see BMW being any different...its just that it has happened to a few people with large audiences and those 3 double R failures have been WIDELY publicized. Everyone keeps telling me that Fastlane D's failed...his was an issue with the shock and with a bad wheel...its NOT a motor issue. To me the S1000RR is a ROCK SOLID bike that has a very LOW percentage of failure when you look at the actual rate of issues (there are a LOT of them and aside from the coil and water pump, you dont hear of any "true" issues). THE M1000RR failure rate is a lot more concerning, as there are less than 5% of them made as compared to the S model, so the actual failure rate seems WAY HIGHER.....but I own one so I am way more sensitive to it... :D.

From personal experience I can say for a fact that the earlier revisions of this specific model had major problems. My 2020 engine blew up with a similar failure that you are seeing on the M1000RR. Hopefully they have solved for this issue in the 2024. I have been hearing that the 23/24 have been pretty solid.

About the paint, those bikes are not cars, you can buy a 3rd party chinese fairings that looks great and replace them. They are made to be replaced because of falls while racing, so do that and forget about them. I have a 2018 since new, 10k miles already and never had a single issue with them, but more recent model had some problems.

These bikes, like other new BMW cars, dive bomb in residual value and is the main reason I won't own one beyond them notoriously over the 2020-2023 model years being unreliable and breaking a ton. They also just depreciate like crazy on the used market.
@AlexKorobov
@AlexKorobov 20 дней назад
I completely agree with you on this. These bikes have actually been proven to be reliable as I know a few guys with 20-30 thousand miles with no issues. 2nd gen and 3rd gen. Some guys just abuse these bikes and don’t follow guidelines from BMW

@Oggyzd 20 дней назад
Nice! I could not agree more! Take care of the bike and it will take care of you. Have just over 13k miles on my '21 RR, did the break-in service, put BT stage 2 at 800 miles, and 0 issues. About 4,500 miles are pure track miles as well.

Believe me, the problem is not the bike rather the people themselves. As you mentioned they don't know how to properly ride/use the bikes. BMW shouldn't even sell the M bikes to noobs in the first place imo. They are bikes meant to ride on tracks with proper maintenance.

I sure with the occasional exception of an obvious manufacturer defect, most failures are operator errors. Like any vehicle either car,bike etc the manufacturer schedule for maintenance needs to be followed to ensure reliability.

Honestly, I want to decat it. However, with the decat I have to flash it/remmap the way you did with BT. But I spoke with UK BMW dealerships, and they told me that if something happens with the engine and we see it's flashed, the warranty won't cover it. If anything else outside the ECU fails, that's fine, but flashing/mapping the ECU and then something happens... GG! So, I am till growing a pair of balls to decat + flash the ECU after...
@jasonisdn
@jasonisdn 19 дней назад
It's doesn't need a tune when you ditch the cat. Do the adaptations and let it relearn for a few rides and it will be fine. I tune my own 24 and the bike was lean as hell down low and rich as hell up top.

You don’t have to flush the bike if you put on the full header. The bike will run perfectly fine
@alishfitness
@alishfitness 18 дней назад
@@jasonisdn @FastRRak Thank you, boyz for the information. I will proceed with Arrow headers then without the flashing part. I really don't want to screw over and give eventual reason for the BMW to decline the warranty. Today I spoke with another rider that I met on a moto gathering location near London UK and he has 23 model, exactly like ours and he is riding it for 4k miles now without flashing but with Akra headers. He said no problems at all, just it might be more uneven at the cold start. Thank you again, boiz.

@@alishfitness anytime, and it you ever question the AFR values take it to a Dyno and just run it some and see if it's lean or rich. Since you are putting on a new pipe, maybe even go ahead and have a wideband installed. That way you can monitor it.

I clean my bike every time I ride it! I use McGuires waterless carwash with wax. Every 500mi I use chainwax chain cleaner and pressure wash my chain and bike while I'm at it. I have a 22' Gsxr1000rz with 23k+miles on it. My chain and sprocket look brand new!

Hey guys, know that BMW offers a torque map. Raises the torque level at lower rpm while sacrificing upper end hp. Totally great, instead of a dip at 8k, it comes on HARD. Highly recommended and FREE from your dealer. And if you don’t like it, they are obligated to reverse it for free!

1100 miles is not much, it's brand new. The concerns I've read about are the engine fractures and electronic malfunctions due to rain. I had a coolant leak as soon as I bought my 2014 new. The servicing was also just too costly. Im from Australia. I had an overheating problem on my 2006 ZX6R when I got stuck in a tunnel in 40 degree Celsius heat. The bike was fine - the battery melted. That's why I trust the Japanese bikes. I've also been told the BMWs are made by cheap labour muslims in Germany. Not Germans. Stats say most people return to buy the BMW, and it has the best longevity of the brands. But it's lower down in terms of reliability after yam,honda,kawa,suzy.
