My dream Vette finally showed up in August after a 3 year exhaustive search. It's an 09 Z06 that had only 13K miles. It checked off all the boxes for me. Paid a lot more than I wanted because it has a 660HP package from Lingenfelter, plus some extra performance goodies. Had a health check done on it and got a big thumbs up from my favorite guys at Vengeance Racing. She's extremely healthy and gorgeous. If I could only find a wife with those attributes!!
Let me say first that the original owner was a GM executive and he took it to Lingenfelter. He invested about 113K into everything. I paid less than half.@@ooopppiiiuuummm
Got mines back in July and been in love with it since. So much you can do to them and not go broke. Headers ,X Pipe and Borla exhaust plus got it tuned. Man you can’t tell me NOTHING.
Nice!!! Tell ya the truth, to make a c6 a fun experience every time you get in, that’s all you need!!! The cold starts are nothing but smiles!! Congrats!
Have a C6 base Jetstream blue, LT3 purchased during the pandemic. Paid more than I had expected, but I wanted a low mileage one owner car, no accidents. She was perfect. Would loved to have purchased a Grand Sports. They were all out of my budget. Another benefit of a vette is they hold there value fairly well, if you take care of them compared to most other vehicles. Maintenance saving and parts cost compared to say a Porsche or BMW is a lot .
You are 100% correct!! Carmax offered me $23K sight unseen last year. I was curious so I filled out the form. I almost have that much in mods, but it was interesting to know.
The 11th of this month (Veterans Day) will be a year since I picked up my 2012 GS 🔥 it was love at first sight 😍 I’m still in love with it and I always will be ♥️
All i want is a base model bro, but idk if id be able to afford it id dont make too much money but just enough to pass me by and have about 700 a month left over
Ive heard of this product called a Red Light Bandit, its supposed to override the slow automatic transmission shifts, its plug and play. I was wondering if you could test this product out and do a video if it actually helps.
2.73 in the rear. 1st gear is impressive, but in order to use it, you have to use the paddle shifters for the most part. In street mode, you're starting in 2nd.
Thank you J Reed, for a very good, honest report on the C6 Corvette. Your 10+ years of ownership were very helpful in providing good insight on whether it’s really worth it or not to buy one. I’m currently trying to decide between a 2013 C6 or a 2016 C7 Corvette. The C7 has Apple car play, and that’s a plus for me. So your infovideo is helpful to me. Keep up the good work.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching. Yes, the interior on the C7 is miles ahead! I drove my buddy's C7 and I was impressed. It's more refined, but that comes with it being a newer model.
I watched a video the other day from a dude in Florida that has a Vett shop. He said the engineer at GM said the LS3 is the best V8 they've ever built or ever will. Also lot of good info here l appreciate it
Oh nice! I didn't know that. I do know it's the better LS for boost. You can't put that much nitrous through it, but you can boost it to the moon! Thanks for watching.
I just bought a C6 Z06 over the C7 Z06 for many reasons, but mainly: the C6 is 7.0l, NA, last of it's kind mostly mechanical sports car they won't be making anymore. Couple that with the iconic look of the C6 vs the one generation scattered brain design of the C7.. and the C6 (especially Z06) is the winner hands down.
I wish I could get a C6 for 20-25K but unfortunately the ones I would want (LS3 + Manual Transmission) are all 29-35K. Back in 2019 I could have gotten one for 22K all day long but I thought "just keep enjoying the C5 for now because once the C8's come out the C6's will get even more affordable". DOH! Frickin Covid!
Bought my first Corvette last year, a C5 coupe. Stepped up to an '08 C6 last month, much nicer 3lt interior and that LS3 power!! Plus has Z51 package with NPP exhaust. Love it so far!
Mine is about to turn 20 years old and i now have to consider changing ALL the fluids in it. The Bose sound system is garbage, the interior feels very outdated. That said this is a head turning car in a way that Mustang, Trans Am, GTO, Camaro will never ever be. It does however FEEL like a Trans Am on steroids, feels very 90s even tho its a 2005 design. I would only consider getting rid of mine for a C7+ or a C2 resto mod.
You keep it real (💯) and I appreciate it. Your knowledge and insights on the C6 Corvette are first rate. Hell I’d like to drink a beer or two with you, slap some bones, or play some Bid Whist and talk cars, fishing, or whatever. I’m Bruce in Virginia.
The interior isn’t an issue it’s a 1800 $max din 10.8 screen that another RU-vidr had manufactured and it controls the climate and music has apple car play RU-vid and is WiFi compatible it makes the c6 look better than a lot of newer cars inside
I heard somewhere that on some of the 2012/2013 models they actually updated the shifters for the automatic to reduce/eliminate the delay. Has anyone else heard something similar? Or that you could tune it out?
I have a C6 with the LS2, yeah it’s an 05 but I love it. I love it so much I have dumped a pretty penny in keeping it running like new but the C6 looks beautiful
Good question, I need to make a video about that. In short, the F-Type is far more refined. The C6 is rough around the edges. Paddle shifters are far crisper than the C6. Having said all of that, the F-Type is not nearly as fun to drive.
I’ve had 4 different C6s (3 convertibles/1 Z06 hardtop) and they are still head turners and and nice cars. Just a beautiful machine. We currently have a 2012 GrandSport convertible.
@@JReedsLoveofCars you will not regret it. This 6 speed is so sweet! Just. Wonderful daily driver. They were meant to be driven. I don’t understand people who get em and don’t drive em Enough to enjoy em… they are fun cars. And just Dadgum Beautiful.
Also, a true corvette! Front engined will always, in my opinion, be the true vette! Dad had a c7 GS and my all time dream is the C6 ZR1. Since I was a kid.
The only thing I hate is that I have a supercharged c6 z06 and my whipple supercharged f150 beats it bad 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ and I have wayyyyy more money in my z06 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ hate to say it but my f150 is funer to drive because my z06 is in the shop a lot but on looks I give it to my z06
Ive daily driven a C5 Commemorative Edition for the last two years. Got rear ended by a dealership truck two weeks ago. Waiting for a damage estimate but worried about it being considered totaled since all of the fiberglass paneling inside of the trunk is broken/cracked. If it is totaled Ive been on the fence of should I get a C6 Grandsport or get something new in the market at the same price point. Any recommendations?
I own a 22 busa, 17gsxr1000r, 03 750 gsxr and an 02 tl1000r. They're fun, but there's no comparison from them to riding in the comfort of my grand sport with the a/c on and music cranked. My grand sport runs high 10's all motor. Which is plenty fast for the street. I love bikes. I ride em all the time. But thinking you can get the same experience from a nice vette to a clapped out rocket is just not smart.
