Same here! If I want as good video I rather buy a real video camera. I noticed some people are forgetting what's the real purpose of cameras from the beginning: take awesome pics, that's all
@@huevitopipihead I think a lot of youtubers are under the impression that everyone wants to either be a youtuber a vlogger or do tik tok videos. Some of us just want to take pictures.
I just bought one. I'm enjoying it a lot. My old DSLR feels gigantic now in comparison. With regard to the lack of a touch screen, if you shoot using the Canon app on your phone (it connects pretty easily) you can select different areas of focus and you can make some adjustments and then shoot.
The price for an R50 with kit lens in UK right now is £850. R100 with a kit lens is £400. That's over double the price for the R50. R100 has made some cutbacks obviously, but I remember looking at mirrorless cameras when they started getting released and they were all well over £1000. As an amateur that's only used a few DSLR over the last few years and wanting to get back into photography again it's a great starting point for me. Once i get some decent lenses I will upgrade the body down the line. But these cameras and lenses aren't cheap so its a great starting point for someone looking to get into the hobby.
I just ordered 1 cause well, it was so damn cheap. I dont need anything special, just something with a proper sensor and not a tiny smarphone sized one
Let’s be honest it’s a mirrorless rebel camera. Look at who might buy this camera not a seasoned pro or knowledgeable enthusiast but probably a gift for a new photographer. I considered buying it i already have an 80d and i think it would be a good backup for that i am a hobbyist/collector not getting paid and this hobby gets pricey with GAS! I already have ef lenses and don’t mind buying an adapter also have vintage lenses i use on my dslrs and my mirrorless cameras
I'm personally going to buy this camera, one of the reasons is that I'm a student and I can't save a lot of money for a better one and the biggest reason is that I'm just starting out in photography and I'm still discovering this field and learning and I still don't I know if this is what I'm going to do with my life so I don't see the need to spend 1000 when I can spend 600 and learn, fall in love with the area and after a few years upgrade, of course you're missing some things but do you think it's really necessary All this for someone who just wants to start and learn photography?
I think this is exactly what this camera is great for! It's a great starting camera that can get you by for learning about photography, then once you get a lens collection built theres a great upgrade path (R7, R8, R6, R5, etc.)
i found used r10 for $450. i would recommend looking for used r10 or r50. the non flip, non touch screen is a deal breaker even for a beginner. and i dont do photograhpy as a job, but when you get used to the quality and expandability of cameras, you cant go back to phones. nah.
well you found a pretty good deal I must say, and regarding the screen I don't mind because in my opinion a good photographer will be good with a bad camera and will also be good with a good one and the opposite also applies to me which I'm a bad photographer, there's no point in having a good screen because I'm going to be bad anyway and the fact that it's not actually tactile for the first camera I find interesting because it will force me to use the buttons more and become more comfortable using them and the camera in general@@truthseeker6804
A student here, I have started photography with an m50 previously and it was a great camera for 2020 that has taught me so much. I was recomended that camera so many times and it definitely delivered but the HD video on it was something simular to a phone camera and i have desired to have an better video capable camera + the R100 feels even more limited than the M50. Which is why I managed to get a used S5 for a good deal. Please do your research on used cameras so buy for a bit more money such as a XS10 or a GH5 ( if you dont mind manually focusing for video) or an Sony ZV-E10. (There are more cameras) It has a much better selection of lenses than RF system atm and it can grow with you
@@N4lax s5, gh5, xs10, autofocus is not on par with canon. i wouldnt recommend them for a beginner, unless the s5ii. the zve10 is an outdated camera, lacks lots of features, better than r100, but r50 and r10 are much better cameras overall. and theres enough rf lenses for any beginner and pro.
Having fixed screen is not bad thing. My Canon EOS M5 rotating screen got broken (flat cable) and is not cheap to repair. But not having touch is deal breaker. I wish Canon could update this model and add touchscreen and in camera charging.
Yeah 🤦♂️. What do ppl expect for this price?! This is sooooo good. It’s not full frame so who cares about 4k crop. This thing does time lapse and all kinds of stuff. I would rather Canon spend the money on the sensor then on an articulating screen that you can touch. That’s not even pro anyway. Give me a break, bro.
@@FoxTailWhipz thanks for replying. I'm thinking of scanning the metal parts of my Alexa, 3d printing moulds and making carbon fibre parts to reduce the weight. I've never taken my Alexa apart before though. Do you think its possible to do this?
Not good for music video videos. You want a full frame mirrorless camera that can shoot well in low light. You want a great focusing system that has eye autofocus. And you want a camera that doesn't crop your image in 4K video.
If you have the budget for this canera then fint buy it, hop on MPB or keh and grab a camera and lens, you can get a way better camera that way. There really is no reason to buy new.
The T100 is one of Canon's best selling cameras of all time and the R100 is currently Amazon's #1 bestseller in cameras. Canon knows what they are doing. The R100 has DPAF and it's on sale for $299 right now. Sony's extra level cameras are twice the price of this and dont have the same AF system as the more expensive ones. Put some good glass on it and you'll get some excellent photos.
@@michaelbell75 they definitely do, although I don't think I would ever recommend the t100 because if I remember right the mount is plastic. I'm just glad each company more or less found what they are good at and generally stuck to it.
On miał być tani!!!
@@Fortune100-u4h you can work it out eventually, many canon users are selling their ef lenses and making their way to rf lenses. you can use converters if you have existing ef lenses.
# don’t buy it . This miniature marvel I bought as I am a canon fan is a miniature wonder . How can your 500$ camera have features of a 1500 $$ camera ? I believe in the camera canon has built . I was waiting for a mirrorless camera I could buy since years from a reputed Japanese company . This is the baby I love . Detractors begone .
Yeah, if you think a smartphone can take photos as well as an APS-C sensor then you're pretty dumb. If touchscreens were necessary for good photography, then they probably wouldn't have built cameras for 120+ years without them 😎
