Great overview as always! I agree, I got this lens about a month ago and I NEVER thought I would fall in love with this focal length! I own the RF 85mm as well, but for "candid" street photography, the distance is an advantage and not having a gigantic "white" zoom lens helps too. Stunning lens all around!
Hello Bobby, I know I am not a Canon user and never have. But it is so good to see a company bring out a lens that inspires and enthuse photographers. As to cost good.great thing do cost, you have to develop and have the people to develop kit. Keep well, keep safe and enjoy all the exciting new kit.
I want it bad but it’s hard to pay the money when you already have the ef 135 f2. What I’m really wanting is a faster auto focus. I’m probably unusual in the fact I use 135mm mainly for sports.
Fantastic lens. Its only downside is the price. Even the lens hood is perfect :) in my opinion. But, how is it going to compete with the $500 cheaper Sony 135F1.8GM? I think that most professionals looking for this focal length will grab the 70-200F2.8 instead. This 135F1.8 is the perfectionist's lens. This is something you treat yourself with.
@@dakotaxu4792It makes more sense to use both Canon and Sony cameras and buy the better or cheaper or unique optics for each system. Like the RF135/1.8L or the RF85/1.2L for Canon and the FE20/1.8G or the FE35/1.4GM and much more for Sony. The problem is that there's less options for Canon system and there are huge gaps in their RF lineup. We have to adapt the old EF lenses to make it work and there's no third party alternatives.
Do you think I could get similar results with the viltrox 75mm f1.2 lens for Sony APSC? I would love to get my images looking exactly like yours but my wallet would just hate me too much if I went this route... Thanks so much :)
Yes you can. That’s a solid lens especially for the price. While the image quality might not be exact the average viewer might not know the difference. Lighting, composition and editing goes a long way to really bring out the best from our gear
Hey Bobby. Sweet. Really enjoy your opinions and reviews. I've been waiting on the Nikon Z 135mm , f/1.8? with a bit of anticipation - for many of the reasons you state here. Now, I'm crazy, I know that. I've been photographing things for 4 to 5 years as an amateur and own old glass for my Z system like the 200mm f/2. I love it for the same reason you give here - the bokeh - the way I use it, isn't just blown out - but the melted images/colors appear to add to the story - it's not just a fast aperture. I have been wondering if the coming Nikon Z 135mm will be this way - and I've held off from buying an 85 or 50mm f/1.2. For me, at this point in my photography, I love the fact that the 200mm focal length adds just enough compression and background blur - the way I shoot it - leaves the person with enough detail (i.e. not one eye lash in focus, but the person) with interesting background. When I take it out, all my fellow photographers always love to see the images on my LCD. Anyway, your description of the Canon version of the 135mm f/1.8 gives me hope. As a side note: It does make me feel good that I completely understand the feeling behind your comments - and perhaps I'm learning something along the way! Many Thanks.
Thanks for checking out the vid. Hard to say when Nikon will come out with the 135 or if they will. I would think prob not for a while. 135 is a specialty lens that not everyone will pick up, much like the legendary 200 f2.
You kept showing the same few photos over and over. more photo samples (less repeated photos) would've given you more credibility in my opinion. Thank being said, this was still an excellent video. Thank you
Thanks for watching. Most reviews show similar photos over a period of time. The review had a number of human and bike photos to give you an idea how the lens performs. I believe in total there are 20 plus different photos used.
