Is The CHEAP New Land Cruiser Any Better?

This is the all new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser
In today's video, we give a quick rundown and review the 2024 Landcruiser, give you a look at the outside, the engine, the inside, and give you everything you need to know!
In 2021 Toyota made their BIGGEST mistake ever -
By killing off their most legendary and longest running nameplate The Land Cruiser.
Because in 2021 when the rest of the world got an upgrade to the new 300 series cruiser,
Us here in the states
GOT NOTHING.
As of today however - it’s back!
But we have to answer the question - did they get it right?
Did Toyota just RUIN the Land Cruiser?
And is it possible that CHEAPER means BETTER?
The 2024 Land Cruiser is here. And it's leaner, cheaper, and meaner than ever before. With full time four wheel drive sent through a two speed transfer case, center AND rear locking diffs, and the latest version of Multi-Terrain Select' can it really hang with the full-fat 300 series Land Cruiser (that we get here as a Lexus LX600 by the way) on the rough stuff?
It's powered exclusively by the 2.4l hybrid i-Force max power train that dishes up 326 horsepower and a massive 465 lb-ft of torque - although other engine options are available in the rest of the world.
It's a five seater only, and it's got a tow rating of 6,000lbs.
And even though this new 250 series Land Cruiser has put opulence and luxury on the backburner, they've put technology and rugged engineering front and center.
Toyota say it's designed, engineered and tested to survive the HARSHEST of environments, and after taking a look at it for ourselves, we're inclined to believe them.
The new Land Cruiser is a return to form - a smaller, simpler more nimble cruiser that reminds us of the days when the first Land Cruisers weren't luxury off road capable barges, but the alternative to the Jeep Wranglers, Ford Broncos and Land Rover Defenders - for those of us that not only want to venture out into the wilderness, but actually make it back.
This, is the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser. And according to Toyota, "The Legend Returns"
Sit back and enjoy as Brad Danger and Trav run you through everything you need to know about the smaller, better off-road, cheaper 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser

It’s a prado. Here in Africa we get all three types of Land cruisers; 70series, prado and 300series. The core fact is no matter how much you pay, it’s still a land cruiser. A car designed to take you in and out safely.

This. Why this reviewers aren't just saying is as it is... It's a Prado and as great as Prados are, those are not "real" LC. Great car; not LC.
@vineethonkan
@vineethonkan Год назад
@@fagiolo2376 Actually it's a carbon copy of the GX 550, which in itself started as a carbon copy of the old Prado. What in your eyes defines a LC? It's got lockers (centre/rear, just like landcruisers have), it's boxy, just like the 80 series, it's got the grille options (1958 looks just like the FJ series, the line lights give it the look of the early 80 series). The only thing it lacks (and with a good reason) is the manual shift on the fly. Why do you think it's not?

The Land Cruiser badge doesn't make this the successor of the Land Cruiser that was sold in the US back in 2021 (the LC200); the real successor of THAT Land Cruiser (the LC300) will not be sold in the US. This is a different Land Cruiser (the LC250, which will replace the Land Cruiser Prado or LC150). It is not a cheap Land Cruiser, it is just a different model that has been in production since the 80's and is extremely reliable.

Looks like Toyota has given up on the building a super tough go any place kind of 4X4. They are just worried about selling more units like ford and Jeep. I had an FJ-40 (as well as an FJ-55) back in the day. I loved it and it was awesome, but one thing it did not have is style. It looked like it was designed by the same person who designed the Porta-Potty, including the same ridge along the different-color roof. That said, putting cloth in the (badly) named 1958 is an odd choice, since the FJ-40, which first came to the US in 1960, had vinyl. The FJ-55, (first seen in the US in 1967) which was more of the basis for this vehicle as it was a 4-door, also had vinyl. It's a high-end thing, but I'm glad to have noticed that Toyota put it's lane-tracing tech in this vehicle, despite it being absent in some other vehicles like the 4Runner TRD Pro. I do like the styling of the new TLC and always loved the quirky FJ Cruiser. I can't wait to see one in person! I do love my Bronco, but I have a long history with Toyotas and would be tempted to get one! I'd also love to see them update and release a new FJ Cruiser, too.

I've considered paying a hefty sum for the 200 or even the 300 in western Europe. And then even MORE for the 80 series, even settling for the 60. Until I saw this thing - the new 250. I will buy one of these, with my very own "premium" spec, and keep it until somebody pulls my license. Toyota is hitting things today with 99% accuracy.

The Prado (your new Landcruiser) has been sold in various versions in the rest of the world since 1996. It is an excellent nd reliable vehicle and very popular here in Australia. However, it is aimed at a different market and is an all rounder very good on road and capable offroad, but is not a dedicated offroad vehicle.

This is NOT the Landcruiser. It's actually the Landcruiser Prado, a "smaller" model that has been around for many years and is the basis for the 4Runner and Lexus GX. They are introducing here because Americans love choice, even if costs more. So this SHOULD slot between the 4Runner and the 300 Series Landcruiser (which we no longer get in the US if you don't count the Lexus LX). But we all know how that will go, demand and hype will drive prices up $10,000 US above MSRP because of people who don't really need one but want one just to say they got one.

I think you didn't mention what the Land Cruiser became before they took it out. A luxurious $100K Asfalt warrior. Not a trail driver. Back to basics, there are quite a few of Us that like offroading. One of the few is the Jeep that has what it takes but not the reliabillity. I still drive a FJ60 but would never upgrade to a 300 Series. A 80 maybe. For those today this might be the one. To bad the 70 series not available in th US. That would be my choice with 5 Spd manual. Ecxept for the $80K price tag
