Instead of getting the cheapest TX, it would be better to get the most expensive Grand Highlander because the price is exactly the same and you get all the perks plus higher HP and torque!
@Sinu_07-fu7ce how does the quality experience of the Lexus differ from the quality experience of the Toyota at the Platinum level? At the Toyota Platinum level, you get just as good leather and styling plus you get better gas mileage, you can use regular unleaded, panoramic roof, electronic rear view mirror and you also get the Hybrid engine. The cheapest TX would give you the gas engine. That also means more reliability as the Hybrid engine would last longer because there is less maintenance. No drive belt, no starter, no alternator and the Hybrid battery is warrantied for 10 years.
If the 350 had a Hybrid, than I would get the Hybrid 350 luxury model. My lease is almost up and I will need to decide on a vehicle. My Highlander is 13 k under miles and it is in excellent condition.
Yeah the interesting comparison would be one of the high end trim Grand Highlander (e.g. Platinum) vs. This base model TX 350 (especially if their costs are in the same ball park). That's a video I'd watch.
Grand Highlander all the way, I have the 2.4 t and you are correct plenty of performance and will not drop in value like the hybrid will when you need that $5k battery replacement done at year 8. Also the hybrid whieghts in a 700 LBS more! thats so expect more wear and tear on the brakes, suspension, and tires
Generally, a Hybrid has lower maintenance on brake pads, as the motor is used for braking and re-generating more electricity.. yes performance-wise, I would not want a hybrid.. plus I am not sure about suspension either.. maybe hey jack that up too..
@@ksignedoff Resale value of most hybrids back up my opinions. I get it, you spent the money, the 5k more upfront and you will also experience the 5k loss on the back end also. But you will save in gas.....if you do city miles, be happy. Facts are facts, and the tech just isn't there yet, Toyota is getting close.....close; but not there yet. Love the brake pad argument, lol a break job is $300, and Im at 110 k on a Focus ST, still dont need one, it amazes me when people bring this up. Something tha car salesman told them obviously.
@faisalraj6654 GX is a truck, TX is a crossover SUV. If you are not going to tow or off-roading, don't buy GX. TX is for family hauling and grocery shopping and has a larger interior space with better MPG.
the cup holders at 2:08 are a design flaw. It feels like they just didnt know how to design nice cup holders. It looks terrible and the modular part is dumb. It looks cheap as well. Just my opinion. They should have taken some notes from the hyundai palisade holders where the cup holder comes out and folds in on a button. Not the entire holder comes out
Toyota has ALWAYS sucked at designing cup holders. So much so that I make some side money selling cup holder inserts for some older Camrys and Solaras on Etsy. 😂
The one thing i was looking for is the bench seat because most videos have been showing the hybrids with the captain's chair. I have always only bought lexus and Toyotya however I'm observing trends where the customer has to be compromising too much on basic things that you'd expect the designers to know better. The middle second row seat (shown at 5:13 mark) has and indentation which makes it shorter from back to front and will make it uncomfortable to sit in. This design has been a complaint by customers in the industry for years and many manufacturers have resolved to making the bench seats linear all the way accross. Disappointing that Lexus has done this. It's a retrograde design. These simple things matter to people buying this for families which is who these are marketed to. Certainly not the best seat as they say in the ads.
My thoughts exactly about the bench seats! People who buy these 3 row suvs need the bench seat!!! From what I've heard is the manufacturers delete the bench seat for the top models because the extra weight causes issues with towing and packaging. Since the low end models have less tech (less weight to carry) and the higher end models have more tech which equals to more weight
@@bbbt8090Yeah, I just think Toyota has been guilty of what I call lazy engineering lately. The purpose of an engineer is ti solve problems and they've been compromising and short changing too much functionality instead of solving the problem for the consumers they are targeting. If I'm buying a TX with captain's chairs, I can easily not need a 3 row SUV. They market these for families who need a 3rd row but then limit seating capacity to only 6 person which is only one more seating capacity than a 2 row. Makes no sense. From what I can see from Toyota, if you have a family of 5, especially with 3 growing children, the only true practical option you have is the minivan in the entire lineup. I currently have a Rav4 and was looking at options when we go on road trips or if a family member or friend is visiting and nothing except the the minivan truly satisfies those needs and yet toyota/lexus markets atleast 6 vehicles they say should meet those demands. The previous gen Sequoia was perfect and now it's garbage. The new gens are all falling short and when you compare to GM and Ford options, they are way more practical. I think many people who buy other brands would buy Toyota but Toyota is not listen to the consumer and I'm a Toyota guy for 26 years.
@@jml9550 I’m so afraid to go to the dealer to buy a new car. Have been ready to buy the last 2 years! I’m just afraid to be taken advantage of because they see a woman buyer and they automatically go into shark mode. I don’t want to pay more than MSRP. I wish it was possible to hire an auto buyer/negotiator to help me get a good deal.
I have driven both and I think the Lexus is much quieter and feels better built inside than the grand highlander. For the premium is around 59k-64k and the limited grand Highlander is around 55k - 58k so it’s not much more . I would much rather pay an extra 5 k and get the Lexus .
You can get a platinum GH for 59 OTD. Much better value. If your going to buy a Lexus it might as well be luxurious not bottom of the barrel just to say you drive a Lexus.
Just priced one out, albeit the Luxury edition. Lexus wants $1427 all in per month. I can get a Range Rover, BMW X7 and a slew of other cars for less. I’m comparing a $66,000 car against $90,000 cars. Why is the Lexus lease so absurd on the TX?
Range Rover and BMW are not long term reliable cars but work great when new. Always go with Toyota/Lexus or Honda/Acura if you want reliability and quality.
I came to watch because it’s unlikely to ever see the base anything at any dealerships; carmakers and dealers all trying to maximize each transaction, financing thus profitability.
People here arguing which one is better as if they’re all car experts or even can afford either one. I’ll be happy just to get a base model of either Lexus or Toyota.
I have a AWD Grand Highlander Limited (loaded)that cost less than the base TX. What does it the GH have that the TX doesn’t have? AWD, Pano moon roof, (not offered), Panoramic camera, (not offered), real leather seats, (not offered), heated and ventilated front row, (vented not offered), heated second row, (not offered), smart key, (extra option), winter package (extra option), premium sound, (not offered), 8 passenger seating, (not offered). What does the TX have, removable cup holders, 2” bigger screen, and and “L” on the front instead of a “T”. It’s not even close, unless having a “keep up with the Jone’s luxury car” is that big of a deal. Toyota for the win.
@@eleanormassaro5195 yes it does. The GH has rain sensing wipers. I can honestly say that once we buy a car, the steering wheel never moves. We set it, and forget it. It like people talking about “soft touch materials” on the dash. I can’t remember ever petting my dash to see how soft it is. I had a Volkswagen with a metal dash.
@@jonkrispeterson6678 I do miss having a power tilt steering wheel that I had on my previous car because it’s a little bit more precise setting it, and it’s usually linked with the memory seats
My wife and I were looking at either the Grand Highlander MAX Hybrid or the TX500h HOWEVER we are hearing that Toyota/Lexus are having the same fuel tank issues where it will not let you fill the tank completely when empty. The tank capacity states 17 gals but when the gauge says E and light comes on it will only let you put in about 12 gallons of gas. That sucks and heard they have class action lawsuits against them on the RAV4 hybrid models for the same way. Upon researching its due to the fuel tanks saddle like shape. I think we will just get the gas version we dont want to pay 60k for a vehicle and not be able to fill it and have all these issues. Toyota should be ashamed!
I live in Texas so that I want to say that I do not very need of heat seat or steering wheels. Texas is so hot right now and the winter last about 2 months a year.
You cannot fit 8 people in a grand highlander let’s be real. It’s a lie. Lexus knows that the car cannot fit 3 people in in the back that’s why they made sure of making 2 people comfortable in back rather than trying to squeeze three and make them uncomfortable
I rather get a fully loaded Grand Highlander than the base Lexus TX. I need my panoramic roof!! And I don’t mind captain chairs. Keeps bratty kids from fighting each other. Lol
I think it is safe to say that Toyota has run out of ideas with what to do with the Lexus. That much is clear especially when Toyota cars are looking way better than Lexus cars.
I agree. He’s a Mexican illegal trying to pursue the American dream of making bank by reviewing vehicles. Javier Guzman Gonzalez Rodriguez is his name I believe. God bless him for being so brave crossing the dangerous rio grande river and the barbed wire Texas border to reach the American promise land….land of opportunity and welfare.
yeah! technically with deliver its closer to 57k but thats added on all vehicles. the spec sheet i was given stated 55k which is why i referenced that number.
@@tinhinnh I swear Toyota made the Lexus TX to reduce Grand Highlander markups in the same way Honda made the Acura Integra to reduce Civic Si and Type R (with the Type S) markups. Is this some kind of new Japanese North American anti-markup strategy?
@@faheemabbas3965I doubt it. They make both version for different group of buyers. The GH max out at $60k and Lexus TX max out at 75k+. Lexus offers the turbo 4 as the base engine where the GH offers the 2.5L non turbo hybrid as base. Toyota/Lexus offers 4 types of powertrains combined so it does not eat into each other’s market. The less wealthier buyers will certainly go with the GH and vice versa, $20k plus is won’t matter much to the Lexus’s target buyers.
@@almassengale i agree, ive been experiencing panoramic sunroofs a lot more and most of the time i've had it closed. especally on hot sunny days since it really gets hot inside with it. it is a nice to have though.
@@PushingPistons Not having a panoramic roof in a luxury car is just absurd, to me. I get that not everyone is into that, but at least make it standard on a luxury brand.
The TX is a boring suv 🚙 with a samurai helmet front grill. This suv is just another highlander with a Lexus badge. You’re better off just buying a Highlander.
Let's be honest - it's just an overpriced Toyota with some upgraded luxury items. Real luxury cars come from Europe - that's why even the Japanese get them over Toyota/Lexus
This lad just lack the skirt….is this a furniture review? Don’t you mention the chasis The transmission Engine specs Off road performance Crash test results Cost to own Materials Paint??? Really a waste of time👎👎👎👎👎
Honestly, the interior is a dud. As it is for every Lexus. The exterior is a knockout. The interior is bland as hell and very dull. Especially when compared to the competition. The interior looks dated already. The interior looks like a Toyota.
