Is The First Descendant Actually GOOD? 

coming from division 2 where the devs basically killed their own game this is nice

i have 2000 hours ish in destiny 2, and around 200 in warframe. Both of those games give you a satisfaction when obtaining good loot. You feel like you obtained something strong finally after crafting, completing quests or in warframes case opening relics. However in TFD, its kinda hard to tell what is actually good (to a new player) and it doesnt give the same satisfaction

150 hours in and I'm still having a blast. The most important is that the devs hear community's feedback and for as long as they do that, it can only get better. A solid 7/10 for me.

The game keeps me playing, and I typically enjoy just the shooting and having a goal to chase.

So far the grind for me has been just right, but people have a point though, it does take a bit too much time. And the fusion reactor is annoying but it has a saving grace though. Everytime a piece needs to be obtained through frost walker, I skipped it and go to a fusion reactor instead. Holy hell doing that boss is painful with public matchmaking (although other than that, all other mechanics are really easy to do with public matchmaking. Only with frost walker that it really beat everyone over the head).

I rolled 82 amorphous pattern for 96 times to get Bunny's code, the last part I need to craft her, and didn't get it. I can't anymore 😢

What people don't understand is that the drop rates are unacceptable to anyone with a limited game time. RU-vidrs and Streamers can spend huge amount of time and don't feel the pain as much !!!!!

It's pretty good, not great but good, and still needs work and has a long way to go, but it's new. Luckily we have a roadmap and a transparent dev team thats actually listening to feedback and improving the game without having to nerf strong builds and goid farming methods.

This game's movement fills in for that experience I missed with Apex Legends.

My biggest gripe is 32% drop chance feels like 3.2%.

80h in, but I will probably quit this week if I can't finally drop my first ult descendant. The drop rate is holding my progression, 30h farming ult bunny and I am still missing 2 parts, the worst ones.

The plot was quite juicy.

For a free game it's great. If it cost $60 like most others coming out lately id rank it ok. It has good graphics/sound and gun play. Heavily negative reviews are usually from woke who hate pretty or Warframe players.

The problem is when people play, they saw guide what's the best weapon, character, mod. And atart gunning for those builds,instead of taking it slowly.

in warframe you sometimes grind something for a week (considering daily 2-4 hours)

Ottr was getting more views on the finals than the first decendant (at least so far after the initial hype from his first few videos) so why play this game if he said it wasn't financially viable to play finals???

13:00 I mean most of the things you listed here are taken directly from warframe so they both share these problems, though the devs are working on a trading system so eventually all the problems warframe had that it lessened with trading TFD will have too

to be honest, no, it doesn't have anything thats really challenging, and mundane underwhelming mobs so the repeat grind gets old real quick.

My friends and I sink hours into this game every time we get together to play. I think it is good but it may be the novelty of the whole thing.

I am enjoying the game immensely, after years since I enjoyed some shooter. Reminds me of Unreal 2: The Awakening. Doing most stuff solo. Going trough the campaign, got myself Lepic, Bunny, Freyna and Velby is being researched. I am also in a loop of doing some attempts to get 4th piece of Sharen and Viessa. Its frustrating having 3/4 pieces but not successfully rolling for the 4th but I am a patient man. Gotta remind some that in League of legends you had to grind a lot to get all the champions if you didnt pay for them. Same goes for unlocking tanks in WoT. As am 81 hours in and I can see that going to 200+ hours by the time I am done with hard mode and grinding out the descendants and weapons I want I will certainly be spending at least $60 on this game. Probably on cosmetics mostly and maybe for an energy activator or something else. 👍

They are removing the 5min wait, and you can dismiss the regular descendant when you get the ultimate. I did the same in warframe where slots are limited and pay for them, with trading I got them back again when I had all the slots and playing the game they will drop automatically at least twice for most parts.

I have 140h now MR16 and just got Enzo crafting. Like warframe 5k hours and LR4 I'm 100% free play. Will see if you can actually really play it free in the long run like warframe, they did mention trading was coming. I could already sell an Enzo main BP 😎

I think that it’s a decent game if you aren’t interested in a looter with depth and difficulty. I appreciate in the current climate of gaming, that’s an inadvertent insult, but I think some people just want that power fantasy sometimes. The game won’t challenge you, or make you think, but it’ll stimulate the player for just a bit of dumb fun, and that’s ok. It’s not really for me, I’m much more interested in Destiny, which has the benefit of being 10 years old, but also has a breadth of early, mid and endgame content. TFD feels like it’s plateau is the mid game.

This looks like a game for people that love to have their time wasted. Ultimate fast food game that's not good but but not bad. The world looks bland like cookie cutter UE5 asset flips. The movement looks robotic/stiff and on top of that its basically a mobile game with the mechanics.

No it's not a good game, I can't even tell if it's ok. This game is overrated to hell. Mix reviews seems fair. (I have 3k hours in warframe and I played tfd for 270 hours and removed it, going back to warframe)

I played a decent chunk of the first descendant (not a ton but enough to get the vibe) and it’s a hybrid between warframe and destiny. It’s got slightly more grounded movement than watframe, but gunplay and such don’t necessarily feel quite as satisfying as destiny 2 (hard to say how much is just destiny being an FPS). Weapon loot also felt very needlessly messy in comparison to the other two, giving you tons of copies of weapons but not really telling you obviously enough (at least for a new player) when they actually dropped. I’ve played a solid 2000+ hours in destiny 2 and the first descendant doesn’t currently compete, but that is only because destiny is currently riding the high of its best expansion ever. Comparing against its weaker expansions like curse of Osiris, shadowkeep, beyond light and lightfall make destiny look like trash in comparison. The first descendant is at its launch and is significantly more competent than destiny 1 or 2 were at the same time. We will have to see where the game ends up in time, but I know for myself I don’t have the time to enjoy MMOs anymore. Destiny is a game I play maybe once a week max just to hang out with friends, but is simply too much of a grind, despite being less than both wstframe and first descendant. I do have to say that the first descendant not having PvP feels like a really smart move. Destiny and warframe’s PvP can be fun but ultimately is handicapped by horrific netcode and questionable balancing thanks to the incredibly dense sandbox available. This game does not have that problem. Regardless, I hope it succeeds. Mmo shooters have been a pretty difficult genre to get into, with countless corpses laying in its wake (anthem, the division 1 & 2, outriders, halo infinite and borderlands 3 to an extent). Similar to the finals, they both have a steep hill to climb regardless of their quality, which seems good enough for a launch at least. Player retention is always going to be the tough part.

For a looter shooter right now……TFD got a long way to go as far as improving. It’s better than D2 no question

Games ass. I got 200 hours in and my Lepic is able to kill almost every hard mode boss just by using 1 ultimate off rip. No challenge in the game, gameplay loop is boring and overly grindy/unrewarding with no real end game. Literally any other looter shooter is better than this game, as this one does nothing better than the rest.

coming from helldivers 2 where the devs made it less fun for players and punished them. they made the game unfunny, the whole point of helldivers 2 was fun, they took balancing too seriously like they are freaking valiant but anyway all they needed to do was new ways to make bigger explosions. But I know theses devs are better at listening to the community than at least 80% of games

I understand the criticisms.. but in doing a critical analysis of a game many forget to experience it for what it is. Yeah this game is nothing great ... But it's really fun. And in the end gaming is for fun. I'd argue some of the most played multiplayer games right now are all rated average but the player base stays coz they are fun and that's all that matters.

Perhaps this game is fun. For the player. However its a little boring to watch a super drawn out grinder with very similar looking gameplay thru out the first 10 minutes. Come back to the Finals bro. Those clips you posted were actually more interesting to watch.

its a 5/10. The open zones and any kind of mission there suck hard. Bosses can be fun, but most of the time they are stupid bullet sponges with one or two mechanics max that they repeat over and over. I did not enjoy the bosses most of the time. Descendant kits are pretty bare bones and almost 0 weapon diversity. Makes it pretty unrewarding to grind for weapons if they all feel the same. Progression also feels all kind of wrong. First you demolish enemies then you start hard mode and get absolutely shredded by everything. Of course there are many ways to get stronger but some of them are straight up p2w. The energy activators should be easier to get or made way cheaper. Who in there right mind would paywall an essential item for progression for 25 bucks. Thats just unbelievable. I had way more fun with D2 tbh and Warframe obviously. D2 offered raids which were really fun and warframe does everything TFD does but better aside from bosses perhaps and even TFD bosses have major issues. Its great for coomers though, but it will most likely die soon after if they do not fix these issues.

Steam reviews are flooded with negatives from Warframe and Destiny 2 diehards. Thousands, dozens of thousands of similar reviews of 1-2 hours of game time, half of which they've spent alt-tabbed writing their hateful review. It's understandable that they don't want their games to die out due to loss of playerbase, but this is just nuts man 😔
