I would rather have the sasquatch and keep the extra cash. I have a feeling it would do better on trails being more narrow, and also has those replaceable fenders.
Yeah, it’s not just the wide footprint but the weight too. I still think the Wrangler is a better trail climber but the Bronco is phenomenal because it’s comfortable in both rock crawling and high speed desert running. It’s just so well rounded.
Great review Tommy. Makes you appreciate all the extra engineering that goes into releasing from the factory performance upgrades that are typically handled in a yolo fashion by the aftermarket
@@Jbs6187 The Basesquatch has a front locker. Same underpinnings as the FE shown here. The sway bar disconnect can easily be had for $300 using a manual quick disconnect option.
@@fullspeedfordbronco quick disconnects are not the same as smart bars. Plenty of trails I've gone down I've locked the sway bar due to side hilling then quickly unlock it for comfort/flex. Especially being loaded out to max payload with RTT, I would rather leave the bar connected than allow the vehicle to be that unstable. Plenty of people on my local FB group have rolled.
I'm a truck guy and always will be, I had a Gen2 Raptor and loved it. If I still had a truck around I'd definitely get the Bronco Raptor over even a Gen3 Raptor. Ford did a great job with the Bronco Raptor!
It depends on your style of wheeling. On trails, that extra width is a liability. If running in the desert, it's a strength. For me, the Badlands Squatch is a stretch for me but it's what I have ordered.
100% this literal scenario presented itself a couple weeks ago when my buddy and I were on some trails that were a bit tight for his raptor. I have a new Nissan frontier pro 4x, obviously a less capable truck overall, but with the width being a problem for my buddy, I had a much easier time and wasn’t getting out and checking clearance every 5 feet
You know, and this is not meant as a dig at Roman, but I really think that comparatively Tommy hits it out of the park with these kinds of comparisons and reviews. He has a real depth of knowledge of the features and rattles them off so casually, where I really noticed when Roman did his look at the raptor bronco that he seemed a lot less sure about a lot of the features. Killing it Tommy!
Pretty sure the fender flares are added later due to the assembly process u can’t fit it down the lines got get past all the work stations and lifters and turnaround area and buffer areas from paint shop to final assembly and final testing
Just picked up a" race red" 2 door WILDTRACK / SASQUATCH 2.5 years after original order. Looks good, deleted side graphic, kept hood graphic, MSRP 52K in GA.
Love your videos! Minor gripe: Wish we could have that camera backed out a bit to get a better idea how they look/compare side by side. Ive seen in depth reviews of each individually but you guys have them both next to each other but the camera was so zoomed in it didnt matter. Hoping for a short addendum? please?
I very rarely write reviews but this time I decided I must congratulate you on a great video. You're an incredibly well spoken person and it's a pleasure to listen to you. Tons of info and no wasted time. Thank you, you have a new subscriber right here.
I love my two door Bronco with Sasquatch package. Rides amazingly well over rough roads and on the highway. I have the 2.7L engine and I hope I don't have the faulty valve issue that will kill it.
@@ralphkeith2905 The NHTSA has opened an investigation but Ford has not announced a recall yet. I made a video about it about a month ago on my channel.
@@ralphkeith2905 Thanks Ralph, I am documenting every drive in the Bronco in case I have an engine failure. If it happens you will get to see what that looks like.
All of the EcoJokes are planned obsolescence. Pray you're one of the few that it lasts through the warranty. There are loads of us Ford diehards that will never own another EcoJoke powered anything.
Great review thank you. I am a die hard Ford fan and was very excited about the big Bronco rollout in the beginning. The endless supply delays and lack of 4 door hardtop (except for the Raptor LOL) has really soured me on obtaining one, especially with the current dealer markups as these vehicles are simply not worth the price. Ford has missed out on a ton of sales and what’s interesting to me is all of the video reviews of the Bronco are actually squelching the need for me to actually own one. So keep up the reviews everyone and my bank account will keep growing!
I will get my Bronco Base with the Sasquatch package next week and I'm stoked! I scored mine for 43k plus uncle sam's cut so not complaining at all. Also Glad I picked Green, that color is so dope. Personal I love the F-150 Raptor but idk about the Bronco Raptor. Still on the fence.
I’ve got a basesquatch and I think it is one of the most incredible vehicle packages ever made. Throw on a $300 ACFAB sway bar disconnect and it’s more capable than many of the $60k wildtracks people are buying.
@@Poindogindustries Heck yeah dude I will definitely get that on order. Glad to hear that you're loving your base Bronco! Honestly I haven't seen too many people order a base model with the sasquatch. If they go base it's normally just as basic as it can come.
@@84jdgregory I caught the very leading edge of the soft top broncos so only a bit over a year (reserved July 2020). Nowadays I’m not sure but the wait is worth it!
The “regular” Bronco with the Sasquatch package looks better overall where the Raptor looks overdone because it is. I’d love to have the 3.0L in the regular Bronco with Sasquatch. Of course the 5.0L V8 would be the dream.
Cheapest Bronco in my area starts at 50k for the bottom trims with 4cyl engines. One local dealer had a Sasquatch and was asking 73k for it. I see a lot of slightly used (1 to 5K on them) Bronco's for sale at 10 to 15k over MSRP. This would be a bargain if you could actually purchase one for MSRP
The more Broncos I see in person, the more I appreciate their massive size. The Raptor, IMHO, is not a good choice unless you use it mostly for off-roading. Stick with the non-Raptor version or even a Wrangler - which looks petite in comparison.
By the way, both the fog lights are DOT approved not just the one. It’s the same as on the gen 3 Raptor, both are the Rigid driving intensity so both can be used on the road.
I think I would rather have the base Sasquatch with as few options as possible. I love that they made the Raptor, but I think it looks fairly ridiculous. I think the yellow color is awesome, because it looks like a toy I would have owned as a kid, however, that green is just fantastic, even on video it really pops in the sun. I fell in love with it when Andre's buddy with the base Bronco showed up on your channel. Also, I know this is a stretch, but it seems a little nostalgic to me because it looks very similar to the "Bullit" Mustang green.
honestly a base raptor with small lift and high quality tires will be far more capable than what 99% of buyers need. Lockers are amazing, but if you take your time and use traction boards and sand bags you can keep the wheels on the ground. It would be nice if Ford... and Jeep... offered a simple front and rear differential upgrade (Locker and Torsen). Honestly, most of the time a torsen does more than an unlocked e locker and just multiplies the effects of brake based traction control . TJ Rubicon actually had a helical rear air locking differential which makes me sad that they moved away from that cause it's just extremely capable. But I think a rear locker and front torsen or f/r torsens on a base bronco/wrangler would be an awesome package from the manufacturer.
My Sasquatch is already wider than my D-90 on my trail into the cottage. I thought it would be nice to have 37s and my preference are BFG MT tires, but 9” wider would make it tough to fit on the trail.
@ John P. ...that's one reason I like my "skinnier" Jeep Gladiator (Rubicon) -- there's a 13.1" difference. I'll take it (and it was $30K less)! ;-) -- BR
@@1xsnrg No...mine's stock (33" Falken Wildpeak AT3W) and will stay that way. I don't "mod" my vehicles, and in this case, it's WAY more capable as-is/OEM from the factory than I'll likely ever need. "Jeep Wave" -- BR
Raptor, easy choice for me. I live in Northern NV where we've got plenty of desert to use it as intended. Resale will be better and it'll be more fun to drive on road as well. But yeah, the fenders are crap and need to be swapped ASAP.
I have a First Edition and was lucky enough to get a Golden Ticket for a Bronco Raptor, but like you said, I live in Colorado... That raptor is damn near useless on switch backs... Id rather take the 15k difference in price, upgrade my own suspension and put it on 37s... and have plenty of money left over. Only thing I'll be missing out on is the engine, and that's what tunes are for. FEs will be the most rare 6th gen bronco made, no need to trade that in...
@@vitaplur426 the current F150 Raptor has 450 hp and 510tq The Bronco Raptor 418hp and 440tq. For the price, 80k plus, it definitely should have come with more power and torque. So…
@@cpgeorge2518 yeah…. That’s not 500. And at 69K (actual price) it’s far more capable overall and cheaper than it’s competition (the 392 wrangler) which also doesn’t make 500 HP
@@vitaplur426 once you price it with options you are definitely up in the 80’s, which is sad because I do like the beefier Bronco Raptor. The 392 doesn’t have 500 hp but it is very close at 475hp. The 392 also does 0-60 in a tick over 4 seconds. The Bronco Raptor does 0-60 in 6.3 seconds. I just expected Ford to turn the wick up way more than it did in the HP and Tq department. They could have easily come closer to the 392 in that aspect.
@@cpgeorge2518 giving you a bit of a hard time… if I’m being honest I also expect more than 500HP and I LOVE the sound of a V8 so the Raptor R will be interesting. That said what is great about the eco boost engines is it’s just a chip tune away from an extra 100HP by dialing up the boost.
"Those larger vehicles are going to be more difficult to see compared to the small ones. Let's add three small lights to make it more visible." - The Government.
It's more of a warning to everyone else that this vehicle consumes most of a legal lane without much tolerance, therefore it may hug or cross the line more frequently. Why in the world we would mandate clearance lights, but not a special license to drive a vehicle that is deemed dangerously wide enough to need them I have no clue. Life sure would be better if I didn't have to contend with incompetent drivers driving extra wide vehicles just because they convinced themselves that somehow they needed the extra width here in rural PA where straight roads are a rarity. And other than a duelly doing farmwork the width is going to hamper more than help.
You'll have to complain to the Federal Highway Administration (DOT) about CFR 49, part 393.11 if you don't like the idea. Ford is simply meeting the vehicle requirements established by the Federal Government. But, being a certified Internet expert - I'm sure you have a much better idea...
@@buckhorncortez I think I already implied it, special licensing for vehicles over 80 inches that certify you know how to responsibly and safely operate such a vehicle on public shared roads. But being an internet expert yourself, I'm sure you can read and comprehend the implications in my initial post so I'm sorry for repeating myself. Like a more rigorous driving test, where you are checked for maintaining legal speeds and have harsher lane discipline, do it once and return for an updated license every few years, just like the separation of motorcycle and drivers license. You could even write in a "business needs" clause where if a business owner has provable need of such a vehicle they can operate it sans license while conducting business activities if the economical non-impact of such a regulation is a concern.
Eruption Green not Everglade Green. I'm still waiting on my Wildtrak. Can't afford the difference between the Raptor and my Wildtrak for my use anyway.
I like the V6 motor over the other options... a V8 would be MONEY (schwing!) ... then they have to balance the suspension. Damn, that new Bronco is around 5,000LBS :o .... did they make it out of OAK, gold or LEAD??? Looks good, though!
You said it is more capable than most anything out there for like desert running I have a Colorado zr2 does great desert running and also small enough for mountain trails all though i did put larger tires on it then it came from the factory with. the bronco has lots of gimmicks that most people will never use but I have seen them jumped and one litterly broke the front end and the tires were pointing out and the second one had grinding in the transmission after a small jump and would not go into gear. they are gimmicky and not sturdy and noisy on the road and a lousy sound system which the zr2 has a Boes sound system. You are very good at remembering everything and talk very well, thanks for the vid
The big bolt on fenders of the Raptor don't bother me, but I definitely think the looks could have been improved if they just made the fenders/quarters more bulbous like the gen 1 F150 Raptor.
Once you start getting into this price range, it's really kind of silly to even point out the difference in price. So now it just comes down to performance, appearance, and use. The Raptor performs better and looks better. And since 90% of Bronco buyers will never even come close to using either vehicle to its potential, why not go for the Raptor.
Yeah totally agree. Not everyone uses an off-roading car to it's full potential. For me it's the looks and vibe. I like a big car and a screaming look. So Raptor is my choice 100%. (Never went to off-roading btw)
$17K uplift over Badlands/Sasquatch -- think again! Broncos are hard enough to come by and the Raptor will be a rarity -- meaning dealer markups will continue to be HUGE. If Jeep is any indication (392 vs. Rubicon), I'd say we're talking $25K to $30K. I took delivery of a pretty well loaded Rubicon this spring, but not before saying NO to a 392 at a whopping $40K CAD more than my 3.6 cost me. $40K for 2 more cylinders (yes, plus lots of other goodies), but SERIOUSLY?!
I completely agree with you Tommy, about the size. The Raptor is cool, but if I was in the market for a Bronco (I love my 97 Disco) I would get a Badlands Sasquatch. It still has IFS and a Baja mode for the occasional time that I wanna go a little faster, but it’s better suited to tight trails, which are my preferred off-roading environment. I also love BFGs (I have a set of KM3s). Cheers!
Sorry, but I think the Raptor somehow doesn’t match the Bronco’s personality the same way it does on the F-150. It’ll still completely sell out because it’s an amazing vehicle, but I prefer the regular Bronco.
I actually think the Sasquatch looks better. The bronco raptor is a cool machine but too wide for trails we run out here in maryland and Pennsylvania. Even the normal bronco is kinda big for these trails. 4Runners, tacomas, and wranglers are the go to rigs out here and everywhere basically cause they are nimble and great platforms for enough cargo/bed room but also not big and wide to fit on any trail. But if you live out west in the dessert or Moab, the raptor would be a blast.
Needs painted fenders. I like Jeeps fenders with some squared lines. All in all the Bronco is very nice. Jeep Wranger 392 is also very nice. Bronco has better interior.
Just drove a Wildtrak Sasquatch today and agree looks better than Raptor version but definitely would prefer the 3.0 engine. Hoping the 2023 offers the 3.0 option.
Really disappointed in the Raptor grill. I would definitely rather have Bronco on the grill. As far as looks, it would be cool if you could put the look of the Raptor hood and vented side panel on the Sasquatch. I would definitely upgrade the Sasquatch wheel and tires.
Let’s see, 75 hp more, bigger tires, better suspension and rear diff, and mildly better interior. Is it worth $17k? Idk, you could probably justify it, but honestly I’d be more than happy with a Wildtrack for $55k. Edit: my hp math was real lazy on this Edit 2: also realize the Braptor doesnt come in a 2 door option… that’s unfortunate
That raptor is nice but I can't justify $80k for a car. I know it's one of the most amazing off roaders on the road - the only other thing in it's league is a Wrangler 392, which has a similar price point - but that price is just crazy. I bought a brand new Wrangler and have plans for about $5,000-6,000 in mods. All in I'll be at less than $50k and it'll do 90% of what that Raptor will. It's definitely a point of diminishing return.
@@Wrangzilla I mean, a hemi swap and some suspension work will do wonders for it's capabilities in sand. And with the extra $30k between a relatively base Rubicon and the Raptor, you have plenty of money to make it work good in the sand.
You'll NEVER get a Raptor at MSRP, so there's really no comparison. The Sasquatch is by far the better value. You can order one of those and wait 6 months, but then pay only MSRP for it. Much better bang for the buck.
I want the sasquatch with the raptor engine and gauge package. I enjoyed the review. I wish the two were the same color to really make the Raptor's body changes stand out - or, more honestly, I want to see the sasquatch in green as I think I prefer that color more.
If I was a rich man I would ….buy them both and maybe the raptor truck ! But since that won’t happen I will just watch TFL and hope one day …..I win the lottery😝
Is anyone that isn't an influencer getting a Bronco Raptor for it's built MSRP? I'm going to assume you'll be paying far more than $17k for the honor of advertising for Ford.
An F150/Bronco Raptor makes sense if you live somewhere with a lot of wide open area where you can run it off-road at high speeds (e.g. the Mojave desert). If you do not, it does not. I'd buy the Sasquatch (I live in northeast Texas and am planning on moving to New Hampshire).
I live in south korea, that is a good point about the yellow one being less wide...I also agree the raptor has its place. But the yellow one seems more well suited for coolness and everyday riding
I always think "how hard is it going to be to get parts 40 years from now." Yes before you say anything, I drive 3 different 40 year old cars. A 4door AMC concord sedan, an 1980 AMC AMX for fun, and a 83 Jeep J10 pickup for winter and pickup things. So for me, I want a more standard model, so I have a shot at maintaining the thing
Eruption Green is definitely better, in my opinion. I just did a walk around of a Shadow Black Braptor and it's insane. I love it. I could never afford one, but it's awesome. I'll keep my tiny Outer Banks.
Both of these would be perfect if the Sasquatch was about $50k and the Raptor was about $63k.. get inside it’s like this is what you get for $63k and $80k?! The interior feels so CHEAP.
Txs for the exciting video..exactly mean what chase compared to the R side fenders.joke aside,do u think a competitor to street hawk will be on the road soon??🤔🤔
Compared to the new Jeep Wagoneer...? Seems right in the same ballpark to me. Tell you what, you manufacture the same vehicle for less and you'll make millions...
It's different getting in and out of different vehicles every day, but awareness of the width is not an issue when you own something. It's yours, you develop the knowledge and feel of its size.
Ford more than likely went with the plastic wide body flares to cut costs. To redesign the steel panel press/stamping machines would cost too much. The same thing Dodge does with the wide body challengers. But factory flared color matched widebody panels sure would look way cool vs those plastic flares.
Exactly. I don’t understand all of the hate against the black flares. When a flare gets damaged on a narrow trail, going through a drive-through, etc. it going to be much less expensive to replace than a SMC quarter panel or fender. I think Ford did an excellent job.
I'm comfortably retired at 55 and could afford a Raptor, but I can't imagine spending that much money on a vehicle and then trashing it off road on a regular basis. Maybe that's the difference between being rich and being comfortable haha. It's insane that cars cost this much anyway in my opinion.
Excellent video! Very well done and informative. Would much rather have a Badlands or Wildtrak with the Sasquatch pkg, both as a daily driver and for off-road use,and keep the extra $17,000 for expenses or possible mods! Keep up the great work you are doing for us all!!
