My friend (non-cuber) kept trying to get at my GAN X and I always said no. A few days after Christmas, I saw him with a GAN Air. Just seeing him with one of the best cubes on the market, not even knowing how to solve it was just wrong. This was six months ago and he still can’t solve the cube.

Fortunately, the plastic box was easy to open when I first opened it, so I got the cube out OK. But later, when I went to open the box again to put the cube back in, I could NOT open it. Even after I examined it carefully and figured out where it is hinged, it's almost impossible to hold it anywhere and still get the necessary leverage to unhinge the box (which snaps shut TIGHTLY). The only way I could find to successfully open it was to slam it down onto my wall-to-wall carpeted floor! Yes, this made it pop open. But the thing is, there is NO WAY I'm going to ever put the cube back into it because I don't want to be slamming the box down on the floor with the cube inside! :-) Now that I have watched this video, I tried pushing the Gan logo in the corner of the box. Yes, this works! Go figure...

Just got mine. Instant main... Nothing could beat the gts3 not even the 356x until now.. I didn't really like the performance of the x.. the XS has solved all issues I had with the x.. mainly the magnet strength and the he's nuts were the problem... And this cube is soooo light. I just love it..

One of my friend had a gan cube which is actually really smooth, the corner cutting and stuff, its so smooth BUT he was too protective on his cube, i mean like .. he says “dude don’t spin it around too harshly” or “dude, don’t put it down like that, you’re gonna break it” I feel like he is being too annoying so i tell him that cubes are made to be solve as quick as possible.

I don't have any top cubes - the Little Magic M is the closest I came (and Valk 3 but non-magnetic). But the XS is just on a different planet compared to anything I've had in my hand, it is almost like butter, it never locks up but doesn't feel wobbly. I didn't try the spring customisation yet but the magnets changing from weak to strong is like having a completely different cube in my hand. I might try the middle one, but the strongest one feels perfect already. Wow. The only thing is that (at least the one I got) was incredibly over-lubed. I'm not sure why. I had to dry it up for a while before I could even do anything.

I guess the 356i that I have is also a top cube. But the XS locks up almost never, is lighter, and turns better than the i. Not a fair comparison though as the smartcube needs to worry about other stuff of course.

If you’ve ever opened an Apple product box there is always a tab or something that is obvious for how to easily open up the box. I’ve adopted this in my eBay items and future business. I tape the inside packaging and always leave a bitter end with tape folded over and a sharpe saying open here. I absolutely hate those people who wrap something with bubble wrap and then wrap the bubble wrap with packing tape around and around... when you try to open it it takes ten minutes of cursing. Companies just don’t think about these things when they make containers. If its not easy and obvious how to open a box, you are failing, period.
