Well for 2022 they are scrapping the V8 in favor of the 3.5 liter Twin Turbo V6. Torque comes in way lower than the V8 by quite a bit, V6 puts out 391 Tq @ 1300 rpm while the 5.0's tq comes in @ 383, 5000 rpm.
@@SupraNaturalTT the numbers are irrelevant, it’s how it feels to drive. V8s have always been known for their smoothness, especially in a big heavy car like this. V8s don’t need to work hard.
@@SupraNaturalTT maintenance on turbos are much more than a NA. Don’t get me wrong turbos are cool tho ! They still should have kept the options and maybe even tweak out the 5.0 some more get another 30-40 hp out of it
I love the Genesis brand. I'm going to end up trading in my continental for a G90. The seats are so comfortable in the G90. You really can't beat what you're getting for that price used or new
This could be the last of the v8 sedans as large ICE engines are being phased out for zero emission vehicles. You'll be seeing these in the Dream Cruise before too long. Beautiful vehicle.
a V8 is a really nice touch, and it's great, but if you really wanted a smooth silky torquey motor, I would have done a big inline 6, like 4 liters or such, lots of low end torque!

The Hyundai Genesis Concept from 2013 was heavily based off the Audi A8 from that era Thats why I loved Genesis from the beginning, being an Audi fan anything that looked like an Audi was cool to me It was called the "Genesis HCD-14 Concept"
@MAGA could be better if they ditch that old Mercedes dash and steering wheel also rear sitting looks like old Audi S8 and from the back it reminds you BMW 7 series. I can see it will have same fate like Lexus and Infiniti

It's a beautiful car in and out. $75k is a lot of $$$ for a struggling brand like Genesis. I think anyone with $75k to throw around would prefer a more prestigious hood ornament. By the way, how did that EQUUS thing work out for Hyundai/Kia?
Anyone with $75k to throw around cannot afford any of the German competition which are around $100K. You can criticize Equus because it was a transition car and a good one. Plus, the Genesis offers a host of amenities none of the competition does, including longer maintenance plan and a concierge service. Go ask your Mercedes dealer to pick up your car, leave you a loaner, have your car serviced, and then return you car valeted for FREE. You'll be laughed out of the showroom.

Since Cadillac killed the CT6, and Lincoln killed the Continental, this G90 would be near the top of my list...if I won the lottery :) Just not a white one, bleh! (I dislike white cars)
Before you consider buying any Genesis, beware. Great car, bad service. There are little to no Genesis dealer service locations. You get in line with all the Hyundai vehicles when you need service. So feel free to buy the car, but just know, you'll be frustrated when the car needs to go in for service.
I may have to stop watching your videos for a bit. I'm on day 8 of a 30 day fast, and your mentioning 6" subway sandwiches and twinkies kills me, lol. As always, great review, but after owning a 2000 Hyundai Sonata that probably easily spent more time in the shop than on the road... I'll never come within 100 miles of buying another POS Hyundai ever again.

When Carvana offered me $10,970 more than I owed for my 124 Spider, and I knew my next car would be more practical and "luxurious," I looked into Hyundai because of this video and your comments, Joe. They have indeed come a LONG way. So, back in July 2021, I bought a 2021 Hyundai Sonata Limited, and it's a beautiful and phenomenal vehicle!! By the way, Joe @raiti's rides, your reviews of that particular vehicle went a long way in helping me make that decision. Thank you. @flar, I've become a convert, lol.

Gary...The US market should be getting this engine for the next two years at least. There's talk here in Korea that the next gen model, which has been seen testing, may still come with a V8 option. Let's hope eh?
The one car that the G90 looks like that nobody has mentioned is the Rolls/Bentley sedan. The first time I ever saw this car back in 2018 was at a car show. The G90 was parked next to the Rolls exhibit and at first I thought that this must be their new model. Well, I recently bought a 2017 G90 and it is great. A reliable car that you can get for $35K that looks very similar to a $350K Rolls. Besides, I find the G90 sleeker than all the other competing models and it is not so ostentatious like the Rolls which is really meant only for royalty or snobs.
@@yoshiakik.5332 No, I cancelled my order and bought a Lexus Rx350L instead, for its top tier ride/quiet/audio (with the Levinson upgrade), SUV utility, and proven reliability for less money. It has no pretense of power or handling, which the G90 has over it in spades. And the G90's driving assists and infotainment interface are better. So it's a matter of priorities.

This G90 has the pre-refresh wheels which look much better than the dinner plate style wheels imo. The dark grey works well with the white & black accents on the exterior of this configuration
I have had a g90 since 2017...best luxury car for the money ever....former BMW 7 series guy who can't stand that Mercedes , Audi and BMW think you should have to spend $110 to $130k for a good luxury car. Silliness...don't need the badge ego surcharge. Took my G90 on Tail of the Dragon first year I owned it...convinced me that they did an incredible job designing that sport mode. Can't speak highly enough about this car...I call it my Korean Bentley.

I have a hard time telling the difference between the pre 2020 G90 vs. the current design. Apart from the grill, hood-lights and minor cosmetic changes to the panel, the cars look identical. I really wish that Genesis was willing to take a risk with their design language, and make a car that truly stands out. I have the 2019 G90 Ultimate, and while it's an amazing car, my family/friends tell me that I drive an "old man's car".
Not a huge fan of the styling but looks like a great car. I feel like the Gv70 and Gv80 will end up being more popular than the sedans in the next couple of years.
I agree with your zonks and some would be nice to have like LED seal plates, digital driver dash and lack of rear usb but the unacceptable miss is the sunroof in my opinion. To be their flagship luxury sedan and not have power shade and panoramic size honestly would not allow me personally to purchase. Great review as always, thank you
I really truly do like these from an objective perspective. But if I'm the yacht or golf club kinda guy (I'm not unfortunately) you have to wonder how well this will fit in. Great value, but these "status" cars are about prestige and peer perspective... so I just wonder about that. Otherwise, the value is amazing. Regardless, thanks for the review Joe.

Hi Sonkman, love the Genisis G90 it's a dandy. My question for you and your viewers is, how can car manufacturers fix their Mistakes to bring the build to 100% accuracy? I knowyouenjowOn THROTTLE and that is a dandy but I think Genisis got an 80% but if it had a panoramic sunroof, another U.S.B., port for back seat passengers, and if that Fake fender vents were removed than that would've bump up the grade to anA^^ but it's a descent car even if it's used.
Nice car but I can't see anyone that can afford an S class or 7 series seriously considering one of these. Seems like an excellent choice for someone that can't afford the others though.
I had two Genesis G90s, and every time I downloaded an over the air update or USB update from the Genesis website, multiple features in my car stopped working. Every single time Genesis offered an update, it ruined, disabled, deleted, or screwed up many features of the car. The last straw was how it absolutely ruined the Lexicon stereo. I gave them $180,000 of my money and got nothing but crap. In addition, my battery died repeatedly, so I had it towed to the dealer a half a dozen times, thus over and over it left me stranded. My entire car (flagship G90) shook every time I drove it on the highway and the dealership didn’t care. It was absolutely awful. I switched to an Audi and couldn’t be happier. I gave Genesis a LOT of my hard earned money - two flagship Genesis vehicles in a row with a V8 - and both were total garbage. It’s such a disappointment because their cars are gorgeous, but they are total junk. STAY AWAY! Read the forums. EVERYONE is having technological and mechanical gremlins.
Shout out to the hardest working man on RU-vid! We get a two for one Sunday special 😎 Genesis is really finding their look. That front end is really sharp looking. I hate all tan/brown/wood interiors so that personally isn't for me, but still an impressive car.
The white pearl-ish color do give the vehicle a very nice visual appearance. The inside is pure luxury and still provides you with heartwarming "old school" hospitality. Beautiful wheel design and a pure thoroughbred engine. Definitely not a toy boy vehicle. Yet another masterpiece from the Genises stable 🥂
This is a nice car. The interior is exquisite and has a luxurious appeal. I'm not a huge fan of the rims or the front grill, but I would gladly drive this. I think some dont like it because it is technically a Hyundai, so they will find fault. However, a V8 that goes from 0 - 60 in under 7 seconds with premier stitching and leather as well as a quiet ride and gouges at arms reach is a plus. Headlights and tail lights are nice too. I'd gladly take this in a white. In fact, I would actually be a spokesperson for the car. I like it.
What is with the fascination of huge 20-21 inch wheels on luxury vehicles especially sedans? It ruins the comfort of the ride. It's the flagship of the brand so why would they want it to ride like a rock? The 19 inch wheels are perfect.

The ONE thing that will make this car succeed or fail is how reliable and solid they will be after 200K miles. We all know that all those big Euro names do fail before 150K miles, while the Japanese similar competitors are still running easily for 500K miles. Now,,,, this new Genesis is at an intersection; either following the Euro/American failure pathway OOOOOOR following the SOLID successful Japanese pathway. We are waiting, GENESIS. I love to see you succeeding !!!!!
Nice car! Great pre owned price for what level your getting! Love a V8 no question. First owner took a hit on trade in or sale value. Still a bit hesitant on the brand......time will tell . @@rjlopez9358 Leases are not that much lower or a good deal anymore in today's climate than just financing a car at a decent rate. Also people who are at the level to afford 70k+ luxury cars probably don't care about depreciation, they obviously are high income. However, this pre-owned is a good deal for ballers on a budget.
Looks great - but a slow V8 isn’t appealing to me in 2021. Give me a turbo 6 that’s faster with better gas mileage and a lower sticker. My Turbo 4 Alpha Stelvio is faster...and it’s an AWD SUV.
😂This guy is entertaining. Build-wise it seems like a modernized re-imagining of the '97 Silver Spur II. It's nice, but not even close to its "competitors" today.
Clearly this car does not bring "everything" the Germans cars bring, it isn't even close. Secondly Genesis' biggest problem is sitting right there in the background, all those Hyundai's its being sold alongside of. They need to get their own, stand alone dealerships. Do it like Lexus did and you have winner. The other Genesis models are far more competitive than this G90, but there is a new G90 coming. The stars are the GV70, GV80 with the G70 and G80 playing supporting roles.
