Is the Hard Headed Veterans A.T.E. Ballistic Tactical helmet worth it? 

Becareful with opscore guys as of nov 2023. The back face deformation isnt up to par lately theyve been getting skylined for it by alot of units in the feds/military. So much that we pulled them from our gear due to saftey concerns.

I appreciate the honesty in your review without giving the product more praise than it deserves and without completely crapping on it. We need more reviews like this out there! Your review solidified my choice to pass on this and just bite the bullet on a more expensive helmet. It’s much appreciated!

I know HHV has (or will be) moving all manufacturing state side, and maybe it’s causing some QC issues? I bought one about a year and a half ago and my mount plate is super on point in tolerance and fits both my j Arms and g24 mounts so perfect and snug. As far as the straps go? I bought the team Wendy strap set when I bought mine because I knew I wasn’t going to like it. My only gripe I personally have with the helmet is the weight. But your video comes at a weird time because some ballistics testing was just done on the Opscore SF and XF helmets…the back face deformation will kill you instantly. And that helmet is 5x the price. Someone sent an Email to The company who owns opscore and they admit they do not test for back face deformation, and only to make sure the rounds do not penetrate. After what I’ve seen today from opscore and my group of 10 guys all chipping in to buy an HHV to test ourselves because sometimes a RU-vid review can be a cherry picked item from the company to send to a RU-vidr? I’ll always recommend HHV in terms of protecting over an opscore now until opscore handled that because it’s bad. As far as your mounts go? Soooo weird to me they need to figure that out because all of us run HHV and don’t have this problem. As far as the “sales price”, it’s marketing. That’s the normal price of the helmet all the time.

I will say, I came here after buying my HHV ATE and I agree, the racheting system is needed badly. My fire helmets use it and I love it. However, the harness itself can be adjusted tighter but unscrewing and moving it. They ship it all the way out on the 3rd grommets. I run mine at the first. They may have adjusted tolerances as my G24 mounted right up and is very tight.

$1,200? I've seen Team Wendys going for $1,500. A lot of folks just don't have that kind of money. Folks need to quit shitting on other folks because they can't afford the super gucci gear. This is a great video. I just purchased an HHV cause I don't have the money for an Opscorp or TW. Somewhat second guessing my purchase because of the NVG bracket.

For almost the exact same price point, i was recently able to snag a couple unused Busch Protective AMP-1 TP helmets off of eBay

U can unbolt your straps and bolt them in different holes in the straps. Looks like you can go 2 holes shorter.

That sucks that you got a blemish helmet mine had zero problems IDK maybe I got lucky?
