I have the 2019 DCT and absolutely love this bike…. Have done all my own maintenance with Fred Harmons videos and tire changes which saves me a lot in maintenance cost…. I commute to work pretty much everyday and find myself even getting upset when I can’t ride bcs it’s just to cold…lol I’ve seen reviews and sat on other bikes but always walk out thinking I def made the right choice with this DCT… I usually leave it it manual and change the gears myself… sorry for the long post but as u can see I absolutely love this machine… my one and only bike…
Trust me if I can do it you can… I purchased the centramatics wheel balancers so I don’t need but one wheel weight and that’s only a just in case and the rabaconda tire changer and the longest part is taking the tire off and on the bike…ur review is spot on..
Wow man is it again 4 years ago time flies by! I also like the goldwing but I love the BMW 1600KT or the Yamaha 1300FJR perhaps the Honda is maybe full of new technology instead of the BMW or Yamaha. I hope I can also buy one of these superb bikes! Enjoy your miles on this bike be safe and peace ✌
Nicely done. I have the 2018 tour dct also. At 66 soon to be 67, its become my favorite to ride. Had been mostly Harley for years, but loving the all around comfort and ease of handling.
Great 4 year review. Been on a 23 GW bagger DCT for a year and I love it. The stock seat is comfortable for me also and I can easily last 3 hrs on it compared to 1 hr for the Indian and KTM. That emergency start procedure is bad and hope I never need it! Ride safe from the home of potholes MA.
Max at Traxxion Dynamics did a video on when you really need to replace the air filter, in his opinion. Says you can go much longer than Honda's recommendations.
GJ. Go demo ride a Wing more than if necessary and more than around the block. Come back again a day or two or following weekend if need be. At the prices of any of today’s large touring or baggers, you should not be impulsive. Have no regrets. Happy hunting.
@@roadglideI’ve tested the Wing a few times and I love the machine but I like so many bikes for different reasons. My age and size though will really dictate what I get next but for now my Super Tenere is my trusted steed.
I’d have to say that the only concern I have with a Wing is all the covers. I know from owning a few bikes (with far less covers) that doing most maintenance and mods is a pain in the ass. HD is certainly a lot easier to maintain. Also no valve check intervals needed on HD. But other than that the Wing is very appealing in every other feature.
I have a 2018 not the DCT and we truly enjoy it, I did pick up a trailer and that is a fantastic addition for 3day + trips..good job Rob. This is my neck of the woods also.... 👍
@RobsMotovlogs Thanks, don't use the trailer but a few times a year but it sure does make life easier when packing for more then a few days. Been in SA since the 70's, ride the roads in your videos all time.
@isaiah7617 they are outside 1604 between Culebra and Bandera. Try PR 37 fun and twisty. Do some research on the Twisted sisters (337,335) they are also great rides around Bandera
You have to hand to Honda. No other DCT transmission on two wheels but Honda’s. Honda makes a legendary almost superior level of engines. From Formula One, MotoGP, Motocross, Aircraft, legendary Automobiles, Generators and Lawn Mowers. And numerous products associated with the Honda power plant. In 2025 this model will be 50 years. Is it perfect no. Only what is perfect for you. Thanks for the experienced perspectives.
Well said roadglide. Honda's business acumen and their willingness to push the envelope is impressive. There is no perfect bike, however Honda is always looking for ways to improve. They dont take the consumer for granted.
I love the new DCT non tour version, I found a 2015 F6B deluxe a year ago for $10k, loaded and low miles and couldn't pass it up. I love it, but sometimes find myself reaching for "6th", lol
This bike really seems like it was made for the DCT. I have ridden a manual trans 2018 Goldwing extensively and it was fine, but seems like the whole thing was built to be a DCT bike.
I have the 22 model, and I put 14k miles on it just commuting to work here in New York. I had a few minor issues, including bending the front wheel when I hit an asphalt hole earlier this month, but that's all! She is still at the dealer to have the wheel repaired because it is on backorder. Can you believe it?
I am on my fourth GW and my second DCT. My first was a 1975 and my latest is a 2023 DCT. (Dehydrated and passed out thus totaling my 2021) My 2008 full tank to fumes was 270 miles in all mountain/s riding in western US. My 2023 is full tank to fumes is 265 miles in the same hard riding. (Also , that is one less gallon of gas!) Note: as in other machines, including aircraft; you can never make up the fuel used from uphill/climbing when you are doing your downhill. The physics and math do not allow that to occur. A flat, steady state will produce a better fuel burn in those conditions. Good Rides
It depends. Yes ill definitely will pursue lighter weight bikes 20 years from now. I know a couple of guys in their 80s who can ride circles around me. Hopefully that will be me when i hit 80
While my Indian was new in 2014 I met an 80 year old GW rider who loved riding his wing. I bought a 23 GW bagger DCT and now I know why he looked so young.
I love my 2023 Honda Gold Wing Tour DCT. Bought it in Jan 23, 1 mile on it. 18,600 miles on it today. Yes the 16K service was a pain changing the Air Filter. Honda Engineer's "Here is an air box and filter... Let's design the motorcycle around it...". The GW DCT is not my first DCT... I bought a 21 Honda Africa Twin AS ES DCT. It was a pain getting used to it. The Africa twin has 15,600 miles on it and it has also been a fun bike. I have also read GW forum members saying that their to old to ride the GW and that it is to heavy. They mention switching to the Africa Twin. I have to jump on and tell them that the center of gravity on the Africa twin is much higher, and even though the bike is only 550 lbs, it feels much more heavier than the GW. The seat hight on the Africa Twin is much higher than the GW. I would take the GW over a lighter bike like the Africa Twin any day. Easier to handle, walk mode, just easier all around to handle than the Africa Twin.
You brought up a great point that i should have included in the video. The center of gravity makes this big girl nimble and easy to handle. In some cases easier than my Super Tenere which is 250lbs lighter
Yes I agree. Had both. The Africa twin is a more difficult bike to move around in the garage due to that higher Center of gravity. Honda Goldwing is really not that big a deal but the reverse comes in handy for me getting up a ramp into my garage.
I had an 04 FJR 1300…put 94,000 miles on her…next was a 13 Honda F6B…. Rode that one thru 34 states and put 72,000 on it.. Now I ride an 18 Super Tenere and really enjoying the cargo carrying capacity on it. Heading out to Sturgis next year trying to stay off the interstates on the route…We might just have the same level of moto addiction…😜
💪awesome a Super Tenere pilot! i've had mine going on 10 years now. I love it! Sturgis is on my bucket list. Hopefully, i will make it happen soon! stay safe!
I don't have quite as much luggage space as I did on my Harley, but my 2022 Goldwing is fine with the increase in truck space updated in 2021. I am 6' and I do fine on the stock seat. Earlier this year I did a 5,000 mile trip without any issues.
I know what you mean about the Emergency start up. I also own an Indian Chieftain and without the key its a simple 4 digit code on the touchscreen. Practise the code at home in your garage and then its not such a hassle. Also I keep a spare battery for the fob in the cubby at the front dont put it anywhere that locks. Max at Traxxion Dynamics says you don't need to change your Air Filter nearly as often as Honda says and few know the Goldwing like he and his staff does. In fact I'd belive Max before anything Honda says.. I'll be leaving mine till 50K.
Don't forget, the new GW provides you with a warning on the panel when the fob battery is low! Plenty of time ahead of actual failure...if you pay attention to your panel on starts. Good Rides
