Is the Jesus of Islam the Same as Christianity? Rabbi Tovia Singer Responds 

I'm a Hindu woman of 64 years old from india. Now living in UK. I became interested in theology few years back and hence started going through different scriptures. In recent times I started reading Koran. The first verse of chapter 2 caught my attention and I dwelled on the verse several days. It says that the Koran is a guidance for the people whom are pure mindful of the Creator and whom are seeking guidance. Amazing way to start a book of guidance. I have finished first 3 chapters so far and will continue till end whatever time it takes.

But Paul actually met with the apostles and they verified everything he was saying was true. He even debated with Peter on circumcising and dietary laws. It’s not like he just ran around creating new stories or something. He was a devout Jew and actually killed Christians before Christ revealed himself to him.

Of course Jesus of Islam is different from the Jesus of Christianity. The Jesus of Islam is pure, modest, has clean ancestry, and kind to his mother. The Jesus of Christianity is racist, cruel, his ancestry came came from incest, and was harsh to his mother.

Correct ,the concepts of Jesus/ Messiah is different from Christianity. There is no death of Jesus and no crucifixion. Words are similar. Meanings are different

Paul is the Pharisee. Do as I say, dont do as I do. He mixed Jesus, pbuh Judaism teachings i.e. submit only to One God (Gospel of Jesus, written in Aramaic only for the Jews and is now lost) with GrecoRoman Pagan Religion and made a new religion called Christianity. Just like Sikhism... a mix of Islam and Hinduism. The 4 Gospels in the NT are all written by Greek/Romans together with Paul's letters written in Greek and are meant not for the Jews but for the Goyim. Jesus preached only to the lost sheep of Israel. No Jews will accept that there are more than One God. Incidently, not one Jews is the Church Father at the time of the Council of Nicea. Most Church Fathers were Greek/Roman Pagan doctrinated. Reason for the Trinity.

I'm Muslim and I've never heard of any Muslim debating whether Mariam/Mary the mother of Esa/Jesus is a prophet. She's not a prophet every Muslim knows that. A prophet has to go among the people to spread the message from Allah. Islam promotes hijab for both men and women. Hijab doesn't only mean a woman covering herself up with extra layer of clothing. Hijab also entails a woman being behind a barrier when interacting with the opposite gender. A female prophet would have to go among men and spread the message which contradict the teachings of Islam when it comes to the prohibition of free mixing between men and women.

I trust Paul more than i trust Muhammed. Paul didn't invent christianity, how did Paul persecute christians if he is the one that invented the religion? Paul's "conversion," as some call it, occurred within just two or three years of Jesus' death -- and already communities of Jesus followers were spreading beyond Judea and Galilee into Samaria, Syria and other parts of the ancient Mediterranean world. Paul later goes on to Syrian Antioch. The believing community there -- Acts refers to them being called "Christians" -- supports Paul and his partner Barnabas in their missionary activities (Acts 11:19-26). Obviously, the church would not have supported Paul if his teachings represented a radical departure from what they already knew. Paul's next base of operations was Ephesus, a grand city in what is now southwestern Turkey. Again, the church in Ephesus existed prior to Paul's arrival, and Paul used Ephesus as a base of operations for his work to the west. Finally, we have Paul's letter to the churches in Rome. This is the only surviving Pauline letter that addresses a church he has never visited -- again, we see an influential church that Paul had no role in founding. He hopes to visit Rome, build a relationship with the churches there, and rely upon their support for an ongoing mission to Spain (Romans 15:23-24).

This is a big problem for Islam, saying that Jesus is the Messiah when according to scripture, he obviously isn't. Would have been better for them not to throw their lot in with the Christians on this lie, because it just invalidates their claim to the 'true faith'.

Quran says Christians are more humble and pacifist than Jews. As Tovia discusses in predestination, we have a choice to accept Isa as true King Messiah without idolatry as found in Islam. Islam is the kingdom of true King Messiah. The post Anglo-Talmudic secular modernity cannot be the messianic age in spiritual terms. I pray Tovia chooses truth over cultural belonging.

Surat An-Nisaa, Ayat 171 O People of the Book! Do not transgress the limits of your religion. Speak nothing but the Truth about Allah. The Messiah, Isa (Jesus) the son of Maryam (Mary) was no more than a Rasool of Allah and His Word "Be" which He bestowed on Maryam and a Spirit from Him which took the shape of a child in her womb. So believe in Allah and His Rasools and do not say: "Trinity"." Stop saying that, it is better for you. Allah is only One Deity. He is far above from the need of having a son! To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and in the Earth. Allah Alone is sufficient for protection.

So essentially, they disagree with each other on Jesus. they do both agree that he was not God, or the son of God or divine. But Judaism says that he was not a prophet or Messiah, or born of a virgin. Islam says he was all three of those. Hmm.

1. Jesus ( Pbuh ) taught that there is only One God and Only God should be worshipped as taught in Deut 6:4, Mark 12:29. Muslims also believe this as taught in the Qur’an verse 4:171. 2. Jesus ( Pbuh ) didn’t eat pork as taught in Leviticus 11:7 , and neither do Muslims as taught in the Qur’an verse 6:145. 3. Jesus ( Pbuh ) greeted with the words “as salaamu alaikum” ( Peace be with you ) in John 20:21. Muslims also greet each other this way. 4. Jesus ( Pbuh ) always said “God Willing” ( Inshallah ), Muslims say this too before doing anything as taught in the Qur’an verses 18:23-24. 5. Jesus ( Pbuh ) washed his face, hands, and feet before praying. The Muslims do the same. 6. Jesus ( Pbuh ) and other prophets of the Bible prayed with their head to the ground ( See Matthew 26:39 ). Muslims do too as taught in the Qur’an verse 3:43. 7. Jesus ( Pbuh ) had a beard and wore a throbe. It is Sunnah for Muslim men to do the same. 8. Jesus ( Pbuh ) followed the law and believed in all the prophets, ( see Matthew 5:17 ). Muslims do too as taught in the Qur’an verses 3:84, and 2:285. 9. Jesus’ mother Maryam ( Pbut ) dressed modestly by fully covering her body and wearing a headscarf ( hijab ) as found in 1 Timothy 2:9, Genesis 24:64-65, and Corinthians 11:6. Muslim women modestly dress the same as taught in the Qur’an verse 33:59. 10. Jesus ( Pbuh ) and other prophets of the Bible fasted up to 40 days (see Exodus 34:28, Daniel 10:2-6. 1Kings 19:8, and Matthew 4:1-Muslims do so also during the month of Ramadan. Muslims are required to fast the full obligatory 30 days ( See Qur’an 2:183 ), and others take it a step further by fasting an additional 6 days to increase their rewards. 11. Jesus ( Pbuh ) taught to say “Peace to this house” when entering it ( See Luke 10:5 ), and to also greet the people in the house with “peace be unto you”. Muslims do exactly what Jesus did and taught. When we enter our homes and the homes of others we say “Bismillah” and also greet with “as salaamu alaikum” ( Peace be upon you ) as taught in the Qur’an verse 24:61. 12. Jesus ( Pbuh ) was circumcised. Circumcision is 1 of the 5 fitrah in Islam, so Muslim men are required to be circumcised. According to the Bible in Luke 2:21, Jesus was eight days old when he was circumcised. In the Torah, Allah/God stated to the Prophet Abraham ( Pbuh ) that it is an “Everlasting covenant” ( See Genesis 17:13 ). In the Qur’an verse 16:123 Muslims are required to follow the religion of Abraham. The Prophet Muhammad ( SWS ) said, “The Prophet Abraham circumcised himself when he was eighty years old.” ( See Sahih hadith Bukhari, Muslim, and Ahmad ). 13. Jesus ( Pbuh ) spoke aramaic and called God”Elah”, which is pronounced the same as “Allah”. Aramaic is an ancient, Biblical language. It is one of the Semitic languages that also include Hebrew, Arabic, Ethiopic and the ancient Assyrian and Babylonian language of Akkadian. The Aramaic”Elah” and the Arabic “Allah” are the same. The Aramaic “Elah” is derived from the Arabic “Allah”, and it means “GOD”. “Allah” in Arabic also means”GOD”, the Supreme GOD Almighty. You can easilysee the similarity in their pronunciation so this concludes that the God of Jesus is also the God of the Muslims, of all mankind, and all that exist. Most importantly Muslim are absolutely clear that Jesus is a man born of a women, and that there is only one God who is the God of Abraham , the creator of the heavens and the Earth.

What is the measuring line which brings a curse upon the face of the whole earth?

My personal belief might go against the beliefs of most Muslims. Most Muslims believe that it wasn’t Jesus (Isa) who was crucified but it was Judas Iscariot. God took Jesus up the sky and saved him, and turned the face of Judas’ face to make him appear as if he was Jesus. I don’t necessarily believe in this. I believe that Jesus was indeed crucified. The Qur’an says it was only seemed to his enemies that they have killed him, but they did not (4:157). In another verse the Qur’an says do not say those who are slain in the way of God that they are dead, nay, they are alive but you perceive it not (2:154). I believe Jesus was killed, but he did not ‘die’ as he was slain in the way of God. The Qur’an has criticised the Children of Israel for killing their prophets, and it is not possible for prophets to be killed. The only difference is that I do not believe he died for anyone’s sins, and I do not believe that he was God or God the Son or son of God. Jesus was a servant of God, and he was a human, and a messenger of God. He was born fatherless just like how Adam was born without parents. This is just my belief. I understand that this is not the belief of the majority of Muslims, so feel free to disagree. But please do not throw insults. If you have a counterargument, please provide your counterargument in a good manner. I’d like to listen to the counterargument if you have any. Peace!

In Islam we have Nabi' (Prophet) and Rasul (Messenger). The difference is that a Messenger came with a Book (Torah, Injeel, Qura'n) while a prophet didn't. A Prophet would teach the Book of the Messenger that came before him. So every Rasul was also a Nabi', but not every Nabi' was a Rasul. Then there are 5 Messengers who are even higher in stature than other Messengers. They are called Ulu al-Azm, which roughly translates to "Those of the Perseverance and Strong Will" Those 5 are: Nuh (Noah) peace be upon him Ibrahim (Abraham) peace be upon him Musa (Moses) peace be upon him Eesa (Jesus) peace be upon him Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him

I am Muslim, i don't know about the views on Paul , but I believe in jesus as a prophet and a powerful one , but you are right jesus is not God , and he is the son of Mariam Al Batool ( virgin marry ). The trinity was added by Romans when they adopted christianity from their old pagan religion , jesus wasn't crucified and was lifted alive to heaven and he when he comes back , he will apear at the white minarate mosque in Damascus .

Yeah it makes sense that Muslims would hate Paul more, Jews don't believe in Jesus anyway, Muslims however believe that Paul corrupted the teaching of a genuine prophet. P. S as for quoting the Christian Bible, we don't say it's completely corrupted, we believe some of Jesus's teachings did survive the translations and the corruptions, just like we believe the "old testament" wasn't entirely corrupted, I know our cousins would naturally disagree but it's what it is.

4:13 messiah I as a Muslim believe. that the title messiah means to rub. that is, the owner of the title messiah means he has the power to heal the sick, or bring the dead back to life just by rubbing his hand. In Islam, the title of Messiah belongs to only 2 man. that is ; Isa al-Masih and Dajjal al-Masih. When Imam Mahdi comes down, he will not be able to fight Dajjal Al-Masih. then Allah will send Isa Al-Masih. because only he is able to defeat the Dajjal Al-Masih

At 2:56 in the video, as Muslims, we do not consider Mary, Mother of Jesus, to be a Prophet of God. That is blasphemous to say. Mary is, however, a highly revered and respected figure in Islam and has the honorary title of being one of the mothers of the believers.

You may have missed it (no one replied), so will share again below on this new 1…look forward to your take, and Shabbat Shalom!😉 Start… I’ve NEVER seen anybody answer this, so perhaps Rav Singer will be the first. Let’s say that the Jewish people as a whole or nation did the right thing and/or were correct in rejecting YESHUA/Jesus as Moshiach/Messiah…which, obviously, Rabbi Singer believes. Shouldn’t HaShem have been pleased…& blessed them for it???! What ended up happening, though… There was the soon-to-be destruction of Jerusalem AND the Temple, in 70 AD/CE…over 1 million Jews killed…followed by another DISASTER around the 130’s AD/CE (Bar Kochba Revolt)…which was capped off with THE Great Diaspora/Scattering…centuries of ‘hell’…the nazi (small ‘n’ intentional) HOLOCAUST (another 6 million Jewish souls wiped out…in the worst, most unimaginable manner possible…can’t even be fathomed😡😡😡)…and on and on and on! Because, Islam is copy paste of Jews. I compared the laws of Jews with Islam and found very identical. And especially, when I looked at the Shia Muslims dietary law it is almost exact copy of Jewish dietary law.
