So, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the thing that replaced the vacuum in Yokai Buster Ruka is actually _the severed head of Enma, the King of Hell,_ which is admittedly far more rad than a futuristic vacuum cleaner.

I haven’t seen all of Yokai Buster, but the color palette for the levels seems a little bland compared to the Jetsons game.

You should review The Flintstones: The Treasure of Sierra Madrock. I grew up with it and love it. The feeling and presentation is fantastic. Obviously a few other good Flintstones games are out there, but this is my favourite and I feel the strongest. Great channel!

0:40 I recall another instance of this happening with Sonic The Hedgehog on the Genesis. Sega didn't have the rights to Puyo Puyo outside of Japan, so they changed the game into Dr.Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine.

Poyo Poyo was changed because they thought the anime characters would cause the game to sell poorly in the West, so they replaced them with something more reconizable. Doki Doki Panic was rebranded as a Mario game because the real SMB2 was deemed too hard for western players. So they took another platformer and rebranded it as a Mario game

I used to love The Jestons when I was a kid, or at least I loved that movie they made in the 80s. Guess I never really watched the show... But this game looks great

The reason most licensed titles that came out over here sucked was because they were generally created by western developers. At the time, very few western developers were able to create solid side scrolling action games. The Jetsons was developed in Japan, and while it’s not exceptional, it has all the basics down, which is what few US developed (and even fewer European developed) side scrolling action games could claim.

There were a bunch of games that repurposed code or assets in the 16 bit era. Just look at the Turrican franchise.

You know with the amount of american cartoons that japanese people love to merch (snoopy, popeye) im a bit suprised they reskined the game. Pretty neat that theres even a Jetsons game. Good review

I just played this one for RU-vid for the first time a few weeks ago. I really liked the vacuum mechanic. I would love to see someone make a crazy hard hack with it, it has really cool mechanics to mess around with.

Speaking of which, the creators of this game (Sting Entertainment) went on to make Riviera: The Promised Land (unique “point and click” RPG that kinda feels like an interactive PowerPoint and that’s my favourite Microsoft Office program of them all) and Yggdra Union (engaging story and addicting gameplay) which both are awesome games! Hidden ties, am I right?

I think it's fascinating when a game is so different like that between regions while still being the same game underneath, it's a similar case to DeCap Attack on the Genesis. Either way, both of these look really fun, definitely wanna check them out some time

I didn't see anyone in the comments mention this (forgive me if I missed the comment), but you should check out the music of Juan García Esquivel. He made the type of music you may have been thinking of ("Jetsons-y"). I've often heard the genre being referred to as Space-Age Bachelor Pad Music (the title of one of Esquivel's albums), lounge music, or space-age pop.

👹That's an Oni head she's carrying in Yokai Buster. Apparently, Ghostbusting in Japan only happens with the severed head of a demon and not Igon's gadgets XD.

Boss gaunlets always felt like laziness on the designer's part. Not sure how to end it? Make 'em fight all the bosses they already fought, but in a row now! Just give me a good super final boss and call it good.

Well, that's surprising I check on eBay the price for the cart and Jetson is way cheaper than the Sufami version Yokai Buster (CIB it's 800+ lol) So uh I guess il check this out on my Mini SNES :P

Monster girl Ruka for Smash Bros. Ultimate!.. nah she's a manga character and obscure so it will never happen, but it be nice if she got a reboot for Nintendo Switch. i like both versions, who cares if The Jetsons invader Of The Space Pirates got negative reviews its still a fun game.

I've heard that Youkai Buster is a slightly more refined version of the Jetsons game. I don't know if that's true. Youkai Buster is kind of a holy grail for me, as I want to play and/or own all of the "good" Action-Platformers on the SNES/SFC. No platform did the genre better or prouder, in my opinion.
