For us: we use in-ears live, and you often lose the sense of perspective and dimension you would normally get from the amp mic’d up in the room. (Almost everything in our ears is run stereo to prevent this) Also it’s preferred for church live streams, and live recordings as well, which for Andrew and I, is a huge consideration at the places we play. It’s definitely not for everyone, but it has massive sound benefits in certain cases. - Jude
Great video guys! I just got the Profiler Player YESTERDAY. Here's an answer for you guys about Bluetooth: It's for streaming audio from stuff into the pedal and jamming on top of it. Amazing! Then, I kinda agree with what you say about, either go all the way on effects or go all the way on profiling. HOWEVER. For people like me, whom I think are the core target of this product, this pedal is PERFECT because I just bought my guitar and I don't have ANY other gear. This pedal is going to be the only thing I use with this guitar and it solves all my problems, suits all my needs. - I don't need more than 4 effects per rig - It doubles as an interface to record, AND it can send a parallel DI signal as well as the stereo out. Perfect. - Built in tuner with a mute option - Saves me buying an amp or a cab - I love being able to control it from the iPhone/iPad - 50 presets is way more than I'll ever use - It still accepts expression pedals, which I'm probably going to get I was between this and the TONEX. TONEX is half the price, but it also has half the features... No tuner, no delays, etc. If I got the TONEX, I'd be getting more pedals within a week. This Kemper... I'm probably NEVER buying anything else.
Thank you for the honest review. We need people like you advocating for us letting Kemper know that they need to update the software and effects offerings, without having to pay more. Almost all the shortcomings can be fixed with software
I have to agree with the morph! 100% come on, I rely on that to initiate a quick vol boost, and I don't want to use 2 to do that, because that's where I put a drive pedal in unison for variation on my lead sounds. I have the Stage and the new Player, and that's one thing I missed using it at a gig last week.
Really great review, they made the choice a bit complicated , given the price and the cons.. Especially that kemper stage used is close to the price of a new kemper player. I think it just boils down, to how much are we willing to sacrifice for a smaller footprint. About the ToneX , i dont know man, i had a kemper head and I know how rich kemper ecosystem is..i wanna stay in it tbh

Wouldn‘t it be great having the Player on the pedalboard going into your beloved amp and have a liquid profile of that very same amp ready to jump in in case the tube amp should fail? Meanwhile, until that (hopefully never) happens I can use up to four effects from the player as additional stompboxes and a profile of a studio preamp for the acoustic guitar when needed - tuner and noisegate included.
For the most part, mono guitar signal chains and outputs is just fine. At least for me. Then again, I’m a rock guy, not a PnW guy. I really like the Player so far.
Stereo amps/effects are definitely more of a preference. For us, running stereo provides a better IEM experience by creating a larger, more dimensional sound/feel. Thanks for the comment, we're glad you're liking the Kemper!
Yes you can control everything with a midi pedalboard. But you'll notice the function switch 1 and 2 and 2 and 3 together is greyed out...coming soon with an update. Also you can add the Kemper Two Switch pedal to the EX and you'll have 5 footswitch options so you can change Banks/Performances with a footswitch. Plus you can bet they will add FX with Free updates.
Kemper has suggested they will sell updates & upgrades like video game DLC. If they stick with that plan they’re going to put themselves out of business.
@@tacdoc8736 lol, they won't put themselves out of business. Christophe Kemper invented the Access Virus synth in 1995, it's still one of the best synths around. Let's see what happens at NAMM on the 25th. Then we'll know more about updates. Etc.
@@tacdoc8736 Don't worry, that's not going to happen. They have given their users so much additional value by constant updating for more than ten years - I think we the users once in a while can give up a few bucks for some extra convenience.
The Stomp is currently $50 cheaper at most retailers. This is a more expensive & less capable device than established competition. The plan to sell features as DLC will end badly for them.
@@masterofreality230 The player doesn't profile or capture. You have to load profiles you've created or purchased elsewhere. Based on Kemper's recent statement it may gain that feature in the future, but you'll have to pay for it as DLC. Dude is beyond greedy and out of touch.
Guys, I was wondering: based on the 4 effect slots limitation of the device, what would happen if I were to buy a profile which has more effects in it? Would the additional effects just not make it to the Kemper player? Also, how practically common is it for a profile to have more than 4 simultaneous effects? (Don't have a Kemper yet, but I'm weighing my options, since I'm about to get one)
Because of the limited assignments on the Player, more than likely, a portion of those effects would not assign properly. The amount of effects being used simultaneously is largely dependent on the player's needs and what the song requires. If you only need compression, overdrive, delay, and reverb, then the Player can cover that or some other 4 effect combo. But if you want to throw in chorus, vibrato, octave, etc. along with the above mentioned effects, then you become more limited. At that point, you would have to supplement the Player with other pedals to cover those effects. Personally, I use more than 4 effects often. -Andrew
a pedalboard with your favourite effects and a friedman ir x is a better sounding simpler to use way to go. i work on live gigs and see many young players lost in the digital domain can't adjust their tone when needed at the sound check and generally sound the same with their kemper great for 3d cleans awful for drive and lead, keep waiting for the next update their marketing team is on it 24/7 .
Is it worth it ? WTF is it ? Why does everyone on RU-vid copy stupid titles that don't make sense from each other ? Is it worth the price ?....yes, it is !
Most of us (myself included) get all too obsessed about these matters. Hey, let's just play. I need a decent guitar, some good amp or digital device, one distortion plus delay pedal and I can play you any gig. Anything more is bonus (to confuse me and lose track if worse comes to worse :-)))
