I love mine. I shockingly never use my steamdeck now and find myself grabbing the g cloud. But I only game in my home. I'm also primarily a console gamer. So this works because I don't have to re-buy games. Between my Playstation back catalog and gamepass I pretty much have unlimited games.
I love mine as well. I use moonlight on it and stream my gaming pc to it and it plays like a dream. It never leaves my house as it’s only good on great internet, but like someone else said this has replaced my steam deck when at home.
I absolutely love mine! I play Destiny 2 on Xbox Remote Play constantly. The screen is large, sharp, and bright. The battery is unkillable. The ergonomics are great. The wifi is rock solid. Overall it is perfect for streaming all the games I own on my Xbox.
I've only done a little bit of cloud gaming at this point. You find the latency is fine for single player when you're playing? The little cloud play I did on my Xbox Series S didn't seem to be too bad to me. Really considering one of these.
The G-Cloud has become my portable Xbox and Playstation handheld thanks to remote play, and it is now my retro go device as I now have all of the retro apps running flawlessly. It is now my portable Dreamcast, N64, PS1, Gamcube, Mame, Super Nes, Genesis player on the go. I love the G-Cloud.
I've been using XCloud for a while and it is impressive. It just keeps getting better. You mentioned Plague's Tale, I was able to the do slingshot rock shooting achievement on the cloud which a few years ago would be nearly impossible. While it still isn't perfect, man the tech is getting incredibly close.
@@MoRoMeTe_ You think? I use it on my XB One X and it works great. It's not perfect but has gotten better over time. I have heard that gfn is really great, I've never tried it.
Nice review Matty. A Suggestion for future cloud device reviews: mention what wifi type (5/6/6e etc) you are using, as well as your home internet speed. Obviously everyone will have different connections etc, but it would be useful to know. Could also be worth doing a test at a friend's house with a lower/higher speed too. Keep it up! Also, the Ichiban gang doesn't forget your treason. Haha
Really look forward to your reviews when they come out.... For me I don't go to Matty for specs that I can find myself. But again really look forward to you starting your own channel and having your own reviews. I'm sure they will be stellar
@@Cubs1719 it's feedback, delivered in a constructive way for a type of product he usually doesn't cover that may become more relevant as the industry changes.
Good video that is representative of the product. Sounds like it's not a bad alternative to a steam deck if you're going to have fast Wifi anywhere you'd be playing the handheld. Matty, would you be able to talk about the latency (if any) when used on a tethered cellular connection? I'm curious.
I bought one of these a couple of days ago. Honestly i thought I would just return it in a couple of days because of it not meeting expectations. Let me just say its a fantastic experience, I will not be returning it
I'm using it for moonlight home streaming. after some settings, it's almost perfect. 60fps, super battery, fhd 16:9 ratio, ergonomics, weight all good. gaming in bed is so good. I also tried steamdeck but it was so heavy and uncomfortable to me.
I bought this and find it really depends on the game that is played. I bought it primarily to play Fortnite when I don't want to turn on the Xbox and its not smooth when I play. I play on the cloud gaming and even downloaded the game and it's 2 different experiences. The graphics are better on cloud but the gm isn't as smooth; it can get really glitchy. The downloaded app runs better but the graphics aren't as good. Other Xbox cloud gms i play actually run really well like Skate 3.
It’s good, runs most android games at mid to low setting, but you definitely need a strong connection to run any type of cloud gaming. Screen is gorgeous unfortunately emulation is hit or miss when it comes to ps2-psp-GameCube.
Xcloud on Steam deck, once set up properly, works like a champ. I see no reason to get the G Cloud when it can't play games natively at all. Especially at the price they are wanting. Steam Deck plays Steam natively and x cloud for basically the same price. So I am good.
@@matthewbarrios1028 god Steam Deck fanboys are insufferable sometimes. Yeah I don’t need to play anything on the g cloud locally because I have a gaming pc to stream from that works way better than the Deck with better screen and battery life.
Wouldn't mind this, but that Tencent requirement is an automatic no. I haven't seen if anyone has flashed a new skin over top of it, as this would be a bit nicer size than the Razer, but as someone who is a very staunch supporter of owning the games instead of renting, I still go towards the Steam Deck despite it's objectively worse screen
In the video, you mentioned that your home internet was not as good, but was still reliable. What are your home internet speeds? Mostly curious so I can know how consistent cloud gaming would be with my internet. Thanks for the review!
“Steam Deck does cloud gaming” yea but at what cost it takes way more effort to get cloud gaming working on the steam deck plus it has an 800p screen which is 16:10 aspect ratio cloud games look like 💩 on the steam deck all I’m saying is it isn’t a bad investment to buy both the g cloud and the steam deck they offer different experiences they should be used for their intended purposes such as steam games for steam deck x cloud for g cloud and you can even have a Razer edge for GeForce now since there’s ultra wide and 120 fps
Entry level steam deck is currently retailing for 360$ and that's with 10% off, regular price is 400$, Logitech is currently selling for 298$ at 15% off, the reg price is 350$. The entry level steam deck only has 64gb eMMC storage which means it's practically a potato so realistically you wouldn't be able to run much natively on it anyway.
I really wanted this, but nothing for the European market.. I got the Ayn Odin pro instead and am very happy with remote play and Gamepass cloud gaming on it.
If this was cheaper I might consider buying one. But the fact that it’s more than a Switch, or the cheapest Steam Deck is wild and kind of unforgivable
I mean 350 euro ! I mean correct me if I am wrong! - Need Strong connection to play ( so if u r on travel in a Hotel or coffee shop ! Or any place where the connection not good it's basically useless!I could just use the mobile if Intend to use it just at home! - You have so much better option in the markt! For this price !Steamdeck have stronger processor and better data connection! **the are better options in the market ! I don't understand how u recommend this! Specially what you get in this price!
Failed review, no mention of the steam deck, or the price..... Yer it's sponsored but you could be honest about where it fit into the markets and at the current price, get a steamdesk..... $100 cheaper, sure. $299 or $349 it is just too expensive
Thanks for keeping reminding me that this device is a luxury companion device. I need to keep hammering this into my thick skull. I really do not _need_ this device, no matter how good it is at what it does.
And someone who travels a lot for work, I often bring my switch. However, my kids are now at the age that that's a problem to them haha. Maybe this is my upgrade
I respect matty for doing this for a bag but don’t take this dudes thoughts seriously on the handheld..the phawx’s review on this goes into more detail. And also…$300 for a cloud device is a waste of money..
Oh yeah I noticed a big difference too when I have use my iPad to play Xbox cloud with a controller wireless it lag it’s not that good the screen is cut don’t use full screen the input it’s longer for some reason the Logitech it’s just so smooth even when I have low internet convection it’s kind of weird but it’s way better and convenient.
I'm sorry but I just don't get it. Anything this can run, your phone or a kindle fire could run too. You're spending so much for a glorified paperweight without wifi or a subscription. A deck isn't much more expensive, and a switch is even less! Cloud gaming is great, but buying expensive, dedicated hardware for it defies the entire point
How do you not get it why would I want to use my phone to play games? Do you know the backbone and kishi require you take your case off to play that’s a dealbreaker and this has a 16:9 aspect ratio with a way bigger screen than phones have and it has an os designed for gaming
If you’re going to talk about a streaming device you have to mention your network and the fact that the device is limited to areas where you can get a decent wireless signal. You’re not going to be playing this on the bus, for instance. I actually agree with you that this device could be useful in some use cases and I would be interested in purchasing one (if they were available in the U.K.) but the price is also prohibitive. As such, I find it hard to see how this will sell in the numbers required for it to be a success.
I was always iffy about cloud gaming but man, when I tried Geforce Now on my PC, tablet and phone, THAT changed my mind towards the topic. I'd thought there were some *noticeable* input lag but I have to say that its almost indistinguishable and even perfect at times. I haven't tried XCloud yet but this video's been a great insight to that especially through a handheld gaming device. Keep up the great work Matty!
I don’t think the price there asking is good enough for just cloud gaming, if it could turn into a Xbox series just handheld and not a remote play, that would be better I think I saw steam you can use too so that’s cool but doubt you can run everything, I think I’ll pass on this, good with using cloud gaming or anything else on my laptop runs fine , too much money in my opinion.
It works great on even a basic wifi connection for me but I have not had a great experience on cellular hotspot. I tested it on Verizon and t-mobile and It was not great. However, it worked great on regular wifi, even crappy store wifi networks.
Yeah, I got a quick question for you the G cloud can you play off while Xbox games videos? I just wanna know if I want to bite game playing off-line. I know you can do it on the Xbox but I want to see if you do it on the G cloud?
Once Xbox allows me to play my Xbox library not associated with Game Pass on xCloud then I'll take things like this into consideration but until then xCloud is just a nice extra with Game Pass
Ok so would this be good for me?? I'm a truck driver who just wants to play gta5 with my friends for a few hours when I'm in my hotel room. I'm not super tech savvy but would this work for that??
Overpriced $300 handheld. $300 is 60% of a new console that u can play in bed anyway. When I will be in train, work or other place - internet could be not enough. My dream is a $150 Game Pass handheld with 128gb storage for playing smaller games. Minecraft, 2D platformers etc without using a cloud.
I still see that ugly, distracting 6-dot overlay in the upper left for Xbox Cloud gaming here, which takes you out of the immersion. Same as on my Steam Deck. Looks small here but once you are on the device itself, it’s super annoying. No reason for me to get this device then.
10k views on a channel with half a million.. I guess only Bethesda clickbait is what most people are here for. You should add more personality to the content as more will like it
It doesnt. You can't play games locally so are completely reliant on subscription services and superfast low latency wifi. Without either of those, it's just a brick. The fact that it's more expensive than a switch while having a tenth the capabilities is insane
I play FORTNITE on PC entirely on cloud, with absolute no disadvantage. I could install and run local but I just dont wanna bother, cloud and game pass are literally the lowest barrier to play games these days. How is this pointless?
