Yeah, for sure Mike. She had great experience with McLaren too so her words carried real weight. I have noticed others are now saying how good the Emira is on track despite what people thought was too heavy a car!
Great content - keep it up! How did the brakes and tyres fair up after a whole day on the track? I’d love to give it a go in my Emira soon, but I don’t fancy having to buy new pads and tyres afterwards!
Brakes and tyres were absolutely fine. The circuit is more about momentum which suits the car. The opposite is when I took the car to Donnington. That has 2 long straights and tighter bends meaning the brakes got cooked REALY quickly. I will now only go on these shorter smooth twisty circuits and, believe me, the Emira holds its own against anything. So, stick to those sorts of circuits and you will be fine actually. Ade
@@andyjessup1978Ahhh! You lucky man!! I would buy a season ticket. In fact, I'd likely buy a cheap specialist track focussed car . Awesome. My nearest is probably Brands Hatch but 1 hour away.
Didn't make the cut. I am trying to cut my videos down now. I didn't notice her being any faster but that might be an illusion due to her being ever smoother. I need to get proper equipment for my next track day.
I have driven there and I was also a bit wary but found the circuit smaooth enough and never even noticed the barriers. I have seen somebody hit the chicane tyres though. ouch.
Eek. I was apprehensive as people kept saying that the barriers are really close with no run off areas but I didn't feel that apprehension once when I was actually on the track in anger. I'd have felt different with a wilder car in the wet!
Great video! How is the Emira when you lift off the gas mid corner? Dies it want to spin? Also corner entry understeer bad? Did the instructor have advice for throttle application and steering angle? Did your brake pads hold up? Are you on Cup 2's or Goodyears?, I loved driving the Emira around Hethel. Cant wait to finally get mine in January (hopefully) in the U.S. Keep those videos coming! Most interesting ownership videos that no one else is putting out! This car is special. Also haopy they are doing well in GT4.
"How is the Emira when you lift off the gas mid corner?" It does next to nothing. You can feel the weight move a bit but the car seems completely unaffected. The mechanical grip is bonkers. I was actually moving fast and never once came even close to a moment. The car is too good. Of course, this is driving smoothly. You could get the back out if you really try. I try it myself on clear roundabouts and in the dry it is VERY difficult to unsettle it. She thought my use of the accelerator was fine - due top that grip you can press on before you actually need to straighten up. My steering was very good. You can set up the angle almost naturally and the car just follows. You never have to fight it and it doesnt wobble. Overall, it is just comfidence inspiring. The "lack" of power against, say a 720S, helps in all of this. It promotes smoother driver whereas more powerful cars are perhaps fighting the car a bit. Goodyears. On race tyres this car must be a beast. I overtook Exiges but they might have been 350s with a less confident driver of course. You will love it so long as you understand it is about the package.
@@RevMonkey your comments resonate and I agree with th handling dynamics that I felt with Sports suspension on Cup 2's on Hethel track. Rock solid, very confidence inspiring, incredible steering, no bad dynamic habits, beyond maybe a trace bit of corner entry understeer.
@@Hapkin I still have not gone round Hethel. Maybe one day. I can't say I noticed any understeer at all, and Katie never mentioned it either. Maybe lifting slowly off the brakes prolongs weight on the front end to counter that. So hard to get oversteer so understeer is likely the most often found coming into a speed at bend though.
I did not notice that I needed more. I didn't feel too stressed out on my arms and shoulders so I don't believe I even had to grab the wheel too strongly.
This is way better then any Mclaren for one simple reason the engine. Mclarens lack a soul due to the terrible laggy bad sounding engines. The Emira has 100× more soul then any Mclaren ever made P1 included. Emira especially with a aftermarket exhaust sounds amazing. Plus the amount of power Mclarens have ruin the car, completely boring & unusable on road.
😊😊😊 my highlander has this engine minus the supercharger and it still pumps almost 300hp...(295) but I would prefer sum more bottom end..it wakes up around 3to 3.2k and pulls all the way to red. Kinda feels like a v-tec..haha
I think you make some good points. I have never hankered for a McLaren though I do have a 600LT on my list of 25 Cars I want to buy video. They are certainly weapons in speed, cornering and steering. As a road car, and I have driven them, they do miss what the Italians offer. Still GREAT cars though.
@@jasonruch3529Yeah, in a few Toyotas. At least they chose a robust engine. In the Emira, you do get pretty linear acceleration. There is not the greatest amount of torque and, as you say, at the top end it really moves.
@@RevMonkey ya they are masterpieces in every other way so its sad they are held back because of one thing, but that one thing is so important. If u threw in a BMW M5 v10 with a manual they would be one of the greatest cars ever, n it wouldnt cost much to get one of those engines in there either. U would probably make all the money back and then some by selling the Mclaren engine & trans. Theres cars out there that cost less then 20k with way better engines n more soul then Mclarens.
@@Sideways_SinghYep, absolutely agree, Nice that we have the choice. I love my integrale as it so raw. Lotus almost achieved this in a modern car which is some achievement.
Nah. Not in the track time I was going to do. If I am indeed to do more track days next year I might consider getting the brakes upgraded and track focused tyres.
Well,. it all helps. Just bought a new mic and camera so am concentrating now on quality but I do everything myself so not easy but always happy to hear thoughts on it. 👍
That is actually the most sensible option. There are many options out there and people sell their track focused cars so a decent bargain and ready to be enjoyed.
