Man, I can never explain to people how synthwave brings that lost time feeling to my soul and makes me long for times that will soon be only distant memories. Next time, I'm just gonna send em this video.
You did a fantastic job! This is absolutely true. The Midnight gives off a a nostalgic that I only somewhat lived through because we were raised on the oldies. Yet it's fresh and hinges right on my emotional and mental state from childhood to adulthood. It's brilliant and you nailed it.
Man, this was really well put together. You deserve more subscribers than 29. Really enjoy The Midnight's stuff and I also really have enjoyed Midnight Kids lately as well.
Great vid, you'll have to do a video on Horror Show as a spin-off mini EP. Oh, and Brooklyn was written by Tyler as a solo project but remixed into a Midnight song for Monsters.
Dude, this was an amazing video! You really described how I and many others have felt about The Midnight. I'm really looking forward to more of your future videos!💖💖💖💖💖
Bro, u make me think more that i had in my mind, becaause i only enjoyed the music of The midnight, but now i can see much more further away and appreciatte the drama in the lyrics. I do videos in spanish because its my native lenguaje but its great to see more thoughts like your, its really good find "more than just some thoughts"
Alongside Timecop 1983, both the midnight and 1983 are synthwave legends. I made the playlist of both of them of every song as of now, including their features with each other if hall remember River of darkness and whatever other songs I’m missing Edit: very first album that I listened to on Spotify was the midnight’s Endless summer album, that was the very first album I heard on Spotify before I knew they had other albums (like days of thunder and etc. ),same with timecop, first time cop album I heard on Spotify was journeys. Both midnight and 1983 are legends. If I had to put it into two words, synthwave legends And what I’m trying to do is get into more Synthwave artists just like the both of them, like Dana Jean Phoenix Kavinsky(if he’s considered as well) Jason dally(hopefully I said his name right) sunglasses kid and etc. I’m mostly a rock hip-hop, R&B, pop guy, but some wave is going to be mixed into that as well and I’m here to stay on that
I'm from Turkey and I just discovered The Midnigh right before the Coronavirus. Since then, I've been always listening them in my car, especially at nights and my favorite album is "Nocturnal". Since, it totally reflects all scenarious you can experience at nights. And sir, I totally agree with you about the concept of the short narration you prepare. Cheers :-)
I thought it was set of dreams ;) I've been hooked on Midnight since I discovered them about half of year ago, them , fm84, gunship, kalax and com truise are my favs synthwave bands
great video, honestly! as for the direction, I thought I heard Tyler say there's gonna be "the kids trilogy", so the next LP might continue that "timeline") but for me personally, the introduction of r'n'b elements on The Monsters, and especially the way the pads sound like they're from 2000s and are full of filter sweeps, all of that makes it seem like they're done trying to emulate an era and are now just making it "modern".. o_O maybe it's just my interpretation of those presets, and there are still a lot of signature 80s brass pads and percussion, so it's definitely a transition.. songs like Dream Away and Helvetica are even New Age inspired and that works conceptually with the album's theme, but not musically, because it kinda skips the 90s instruments and tries to create them with 1980s+2000s, which is super confusing at the end, haha
I agree, Monsters is a bit of a mixed bag and I expected it’d transition a bit more into the 90’s era rather than skipping it. I like Monsters but in sort of a different way. It’s not bad, but the jungle sound and odd changes on some songs threw me off. Maybe the vibe shifts were meant to be more reminiscent of adolescence, or like some interdimensional creature crawling through the TV, idk haha but the album felt a bit off and took some getting used to.
The Midnight have always been one of my Synthwave artists but the latest releases are losing my interest. I would still definitely see them live again, they are fantastic
It's not, the genre is more varied than people give credit for or realize let alone explore. They paid homage to yet another part of the old scene while bringing it to the new that's it. It's not the future or the past its the present.
