I'm currently working on a The Movies inspired game. I hope it will be more like City Skylines is to Sim City. Not an exact clone like this one but allows for more customization of sets and other things. It's being made in Unreal.
@@inventions178 I would love to but they take a lot of time and my primary engine has been Unity up until recently, so I am fumbling around with the learning curve. I'm not sure how entertaining that would be ;)... Eh I will think about it lol
I just started playing this, and im starting in 1920. My actor won Actor of the Year 3 years in a row, he's already an A-list celebrity and i made 2 of the highest grossing movies so far, the only 2 movies to break 1 million+ in ticket sales. My studio won 4 other awards each year too. Its really nice game, but seems way too easy. Maybe in future years it will become more challenging but 1920s era is a walk in the park.
I need to find the time to watch this video in full, but the title had me hooked. I still go back to The Movies once in a while! Can't wait to see your playthrough of this!
This one was a screamer. Starting from about 30 minutes in I was just yelling "The room requirements are not met!" while your mouse hovered around it and you saying "Hmm, what seems the problem..." as you ponder hiring more staff and eliminating leisure and meal times. Classic Jonti content. Very entertaining haha
While I am more excited for Movies Tycoon (based on the demo, it seems more like the 2005 original), I am on board for this playthrough and can see why you are drawn to this one. First impression is that it is a mix of The Movies and the Two-Point series of games.
All these building games look the same, Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo are the same as well, I actually thought it was another Frontier Developments game
No 😅. I can only imagine tho if Frontier would do this. It would be amazing because you would technically end up with many diorama’s for each stage, on a single map.
Thanks for this one, Jonti. Been on my watchlist for a while now; I adored The Movies, even though it was a bit of a flawed game at times. I played the demo of this and while I can see the potential, I still thought it was a little unintuitive and also very difficult to make any money. Still, I love the idea, and perhaps the game will get better after a few updates. Not sure I'll pick it up when it releases on Thursday, but I'll definitely keep an eye on it, and any more videos you make on it! Incidentally, the writers' room and producer's room weren't working because you didn't have the very specific item it wanted - the cabinets. You can see it says "The room requirements are not met" around 39:14. You need both types of cabinet, apparently. The game should probably do more to warn you that the movie isn't getting made because of that!
Thabks for watching, it definately has promise! So I don't think you NEED the cabinets, but the Gane seemingly needs you to take the desk from the UI menu and not the main menu? I think? It is a little unintuitive, but an easy fix I feel
Glad to see you still around Jonti. I have been playing the Movies since it came out in 2005 and this video is the first I am hearing about this game. I was so excited to see it is releasing in 11 hours from when I found this video! Great content as always. I'm definitely going to check this one out.
This looks great! I put some movie games on my wishlist years ago and none of them seem any closer to release. They also do not look as good. I'm looking forward to a whole Geekism series on this :D
Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on all of them too... this one definately seems the most fleshed out, if a little safe in it's similarity to 'The Movies', but hey... The Movies ruled, so maybe it's ok!
I haven't finished the video so if it changes later I haven't seen it but having to go through the entire cafeteria and bathroom to get to the maintenance area seems so weird to me, why not a door straight from the outside
Calling it Blockbuster Inc is kind of not congruent to the type of game it is, that makes it sound like you're running movie rental place so it sounds like movie rental tycoon or something LOL
