City Builders - Crafting - Survival - Tycoon/Management - Simulation - Strategy - Cozy. Creative Gaming For Grownups. New Videos Daily(ish)
Hello You! Welcome to Geekism, here you'll find a place for fun, engaging and intellectual (in a sense) content. No shoutiness, no titles in ALL CAPS and no clickbait. Just honest, enjoyable content for the discerning RU-vid viewer. Here at Geekism we cover all the latest games from the crafting, simulation, tycoon and city builder genres ...if it let's us flex our creative muscles it's the game for us!
Me and my mom (I'm in my 30s she's in her 60s) are currently playing two gnome mages in WoW Classic. So we spend a lot of time in the mage quarter of Stormwind, and you really captured the vibes, makes me feel almost at home.😊
Hey Jonti, hope you’re ok dude, guess you’re snowed under….gettit?! 😂 Been enjoying your Manor Lords adventures and totes obsessed with Tiny Glade! Finally a game my three year old enjoys playing with me. She just wants washing EVERYWHERE!!!!! Lol
Funny how twopoint have included an aquarium style in a museum game, yet theres still really nothing of the sort in an actual zoo game......planet zoo....hopefully its next dlc 🤷♂️
I hope they add a generating crowd and what mood they are set in, such as you built a fort then generate an army set to "defend the fort" or generate a crowd in an empire set as "parade of the heroes" or just your normal village set to "day to day life" that would be wonderful.
Glad I found your video. I only just started messing around with the game/program. You showed me a few things I'd wondered how to do and couldn't figure out on my own.
Really lovely to hear that life update (I remember all the covid videos and streams very fondly) I'm also really glad you found a balance that works for you with family and work and RU-vid because it's been so great having you back and creative 😊 As for the build - how about a theater district or something like that? It would be large and impressive and really cool
Your short for this can totally be "places 3 poles, scales one to min, one to max, says 'thank you, good night'". I was cracking up with the coaster with the lamp post scaled to max. That's not going to get abused in any way or form...
I think the next area should be the old town hall - lords manor , but now disrepair , over grown , broken fences and walls , the time of old has past with old looking towers where only crows sit upon them now, once lush gardens now overgrown with old band stands behind many trees… and the old tombs of the old kings
I... really want to live there. This is beautiful work. [And yes, that was, indeed, a rose pink wall, with grey tones]. You have a _really_ good "sense" of colour even if you cannot see the exact colours.
Looks amazing! Really enjoying this build. Caerdroea as a name? It's Welsh for Maze or Labyrinth, that's the vibe I'm getting. But it does remind me of Peter Jackson's version of Gondor a bit too (a Dark Gondor!). 💖
Perhaps Castermere/Castermire for the town name? I like the idea of an observatory for the next district. I think a council chamber type building would also work because it would make the town more functional by giving it a "government", and it would also add another level to the hierarchy that you established this video (council members > academics > ne'er-do-wells). I'm new to the channel, and I find your content and conversation really welcoming. I found myself replying to a lot of the things you said, which I never do! Much love from an Ontarian in the UK, I can't wait to see what comes next!
Thank you! That's a great name suggestion too... I think an observatory is the most suggested thing atm and I think it could work great. Say hello to the UK for me :)
RU-vid as a main income?. Its fun as a hobby. Its fun as it grows. When it turns into a 'Job'. It becomes really tricky, because you 'have' to create content, even when you dont want to, or when you are ill. You cant fake it either, people can spot a fake quite well. Plus of course, you run into that some Mental health issue that Work From Home creates.... Your home and your Job/Office are in the same place and theres a blurring of spaces which makes it really hard to mentally disconnect. I toyed with the idea of turning my channel into an 'income', but its a Ton of work. I felt more comfy of 'going' to work, and then Streaming / recording as a method of relaxation at the end of the day or when I felt motivated to do so.
I won't lie, I've always wanted YT to be a source of revenue for me... as someone who left school at 16 and has jumped from one job to another since, it's the closest thing I've had to a 'career'. But the balance I have now, where financially it's really helping with the bills but it isn't my main job, is kinda perfect. I hope I can keep it that way
@@Geekism Funny how life does that isnt it?. I took the job where Im at so I could climb quickly into a salaried position instead of hourly. Then along came the nipper, and being salaried and working inconsistent hours would have been a problem, so I ended up staying hourly. As a consequence, I have a regular time slot for streaming and YT nonsense.
Thanks for sharing about your situation and feeling burnout sometimes. I have a channel, but never tried to “grow it.” I only made vids to share my joy in playing. When it starts to feel like a job the joy just evaporates. So I only press record when I feel like it. I just love this little game it’s so fun and relaxing. Glad you are doing better at taking care of you!😊
I'm a simple man. I see a new Jonti video and I like it. Just finished Tiny Glade and then this video pops up. Frostpunk is one of my favourite games and keen to see what this is like.
Does anyone know how to put fences on top of the buildings? I wanted to make a balcony and a fence at the top :( cant figure it out for the death of me
Honestly I like the first one more. I felt more connected to my people and society. I liked placing buildings where I wanted. This version it’s more of just a spreadsheet simulator I feel like and you are just some distant decision maker
Thanks for this!! Tiny Glade is so different from most games I play and I was getting frustrated trying to make straight walls -- love ALL the tips you've shown here! This'll definitely help me move forward with the game. Much appreciated!
Same. I'm used to building in survival games. That means building under attack/threat of attack from PvP/PvE enemies. You typically need exact precision in placement, which can mean the difference between either life and death, or, a nonfunctional/aesthetically displeasing/less structurally secure building that could leave you vulnerable, or, unable to expand and upgrade. Not to mention the grinding for limited resources, need for storage/protection of said resources, and all the tools that comes with it. Games like Valheim, The Forest, and Rust. Great games, but the building tends to be very different. It requires a lot of time and precision, and though it's one of my favorite parts of those games, I'm glad games like this exist.
I remember when planet zoo was pretty new still you talked about struggling to want to create "Just staring at the grass" trying to want to but couldn't and that is understandable you don't wanna do something and even stuff today if you don't want to create just don't take breaks. I'm just glad you are back and hopefully only when you are enjoying it!
@@Geekism haha yes! Sometimes you just need to take a back seat and give the creative noodle a break. We will always look forward to them when you post them! Your Wellbeing always comes first!
So glad to hear you talk about the mental health aspect of youtube for a living. I am not a content creator myself but understand how hard it can be to discuss the blocks you can face when others think its "just playing a game" So happy to have you back to making content and hope you continue to find joy in it!
If it's a magic city, the big feature could be some sort of magical university or a big magical library/archive? Or going back to the WoW inspiration, Dalaran has that big old tower where their council of wizards meet and rule the city from
I love having you back. You were my inspiration in Planet Zoo. Have you played Dorf Romantik? I think youd enjoy that as well as a small builder sort. Have to enjoy this from afar as I have a little myself who has all my time also.
hard agree with your colorblind opinions. best thing a game can do for me is include labels for color selections, make it easier for me i don’t wanna accidentally pick the wrong color!
Thank you for explaining your color blindness, that was very interesting. Would a “cheat sheet” be useful to you? If someone clipped out the palettes from the game and labeled them for you, either with words or hex codes? (I don’t have the game so I unfortunately can’t make one, just wondering if that would be a useful tool)
Thanks! Someone making a list of like, left to right these are the colors would be amazing. It doesn't really work to have the colors on another thing with labels as the colors can look totally different. But hopefully the devs will add something soon!
