The Mach 1 is making a triumphant after a long hiatus and Ford wants to make this the most track capable Coyote powered Mustang ever with the handling package. Under the hood is a 5.0L V8 that is producing 480HP & mated to a Tremec 6-speed manual gearbox. One the outside you will find a unique front fascia, grill and splitter. The Handling Pkg rides on upgraded wheels, and has the Gt500 rear wing. On the inside you will find a special chassis number plate along with all the things you need to feel confident turng the fast times at the track.

Raiti's Rides Not true, first 2-3 years of the 5.2 engine have or will have issues like burning oil and internal damage due to overheating issues, but you can always do your research. I’m a 2016 HC owner and yes I’ll have S/C issues but once That happens I will get a TVS265 S/C installed

@tfs2O3 I hear what your saying... I'm actually saving up for a 2020 GT500. Some people are more in tuned with the name and nostalgia as compared to the product but somewhere out there, someone will take care of this car and enjoy it for the way it is even if it wasn't the most reasonable in terms of price. I'm completely okay going after a car that may be 5-7 years old by the time I find a 2020 GT500, but I would still be equally happy.

Mad Guy I’d save for this Mach 1 because it also has the better Tremec transmission. The GT has the MT82 china crap unfortunately.

With the added suspension and transmission changes it should be faster and more reliable compared to the MT-82 trans. Both my s197 (14) and s550 (16) had the MT-82 and were nothing but constant problems even after changing the clutch pedal spring, cables and adding a trans mounted short shifter.

a few more ponies under the hood (480HP rated, vs 460 for regular Mustang GT) and more track focused - yes it will be - though that depends on how far you want to take it. I REALLY like the 6 speed manual. From all accounts that TREMEC is clutch!

TheLittleGreenMan102 I have the same, let me know if you have issues going from 2nd to 3rd at high rpm. Keep an eye on the class action lawsuit on the mt82. Hopefully we get something and can use on the mach 1 !

@@scottross9327 I just got it in May. Huge discount as it had been on the lot since late fall 2019 and because of the pandemic sales were not going well so I was able to get a huge discount. No issues so far. Thanks for the heads up about the manual transmission - will keep an eye on it.

“It’s not a parts car”. “I’d like to point out it has the same hood as the mustang GT.” And look at the spoiler, right off the GT 500” I love Mustangs, but this is nothing but a ploy to boost sales. Change the front end a little bit, change the paint scheme, throw a Mach 1 sticker on there, its no different than any other mustang. They failed by not putting that shaker on.

In reality that's all the mach 1 ever was, an appearance package with some added performance. Even after 1970 the Mach one was missing the shaker hood, so it's not really true that this mustang needs one, and not only that, but shakers look god awful on new mustangs. It looks like a mach one , has performance upgrades over the standard GT, and has a mach one badge, therefore it is as much a mach 1 as any other mach 1. People just want to hate it to hate it when in reality the older mach one was no more special than this new mach one at the time, they only think so because it's old.

John Giannattasio 2005-2009 s197s, which you are referring to, were a nice upgrade back in the day but do you really think they look better than the 10-12 s197s or even the 13-14s? I prefer the styling of the s550s over the 2005-2009 as the first gen s197s have some of the ugliest rears of all time; fronts are still gorgeous. That's just my opinion though, along with many others.

480 HP is plenty good for open tracking, that's what this car is built for. The real drivers will be at the road course the non drivers will be Drag racing which is for guys who have yet to learn car control.

RD imagine thinking drag racing is as easy as just pressing the gas pedal😂😂 track racing requires just as much skill as drag racing especially when the car provides excellent braking and downforce, and good power there isn’t needed much skill, pretty easy to turn when the car makes it easier, both need different skills both aren’t easy for beginners

Fantastic Mustang. Thanks for sharing the Mach 1. The openings in the grill gives the car a great way of bringing air into the engine like the older Trans-am Mustangs. I heard a Ford engineer explain why they didn't use the shaker. It's wasn't effective in improving performance. Thanks for sharing and I hope your enjoying your new GT350R heritage.

Great review! My biggest zonk which is up there with prop rods maybe even higher is not having matching brembos on the rear, it’s like wearing two different shoes

Hey Joe-thanks for the info on the new Mach I-what a beautiful machine! I bought a new Mach I 428 CobraJet when I got back from Vietnam in ‘69, and it was such an awesome car! Sold it to a friend in ‘73, and sure wish I still had it! Do miss the shaker hood, but heard it has something to do with the new pedestrian safety regulations. Love your GT350R-Hope you enjoy it. Just found your site a few weeks ago, and enjoy it. Keep up the great work!

Thanks Joe-unfortunately my friend was rear ended by a teenager and the car was totaled😒 Still love Mustangs and often get the urge to get one again. Have thought about getting a used GT350, but the new Mach 1 might be a good choice. BTW, I got to see a new GT500 a few weeks ago at a local car show, and it is beautiful, and sounds awesome! Just too much $$$ for me right now😏
