Is the NEW 2021 Jaguar XF a luxury sport sedan WORTH buying?

With the facelift and price cut I’d have a hard time passing up on the XF now. To me it’s one of the best looking sedans on the market. Would much rather have this than a similarly priced 3 series or a4

I drove this vehicle earlier this spring by complete luck. My mother was looking to replace her Mercedes C class and I told her to look into Audi among other brands so that if she bought the new MERC Cabriolet she had been eyeballing, at least she had kept her options open. She really just wanted something that gave her more of a thrill to drive as the 4-cyl in her C Class was under whelming. Her and I, drove the Audi A5, and S4. S4 was very powerful and has beautiful lines but inside it gave off this very masculine vibe. Loved the power but it wasn't making us jump for joy. Literal luck we drove past a Jaguar dealership and mom remembered she needed to drop off a key to one she had given them. She had owned a 2001 Jaguar S Type brand new and had recently let it go. I had asked her if she wanted to look into Jaguar for a new car and she said no and I didn't have any big reasons to persuade her otherwise. I shrugged it off. So while we are there I walk outside to look at the inventory as I am a personal fan of the Jaguar XJ. I'm 6'4 and prefer bigger sedans. She joined me and when I looked to my left there was this Yulong White Jaguar XF sitting pretty with the blacked out wheels and badges. I said, "Hey, look at this XF. It looks new. This isn't quite what the older models look like." We looked through the window and saw everything was updated and gorgeous. The body lines of this car really have to be seen up close and personal to be appreciated. We test drove the car and she loved it, I loved it. My mother moved to California shortly after and the Jaguar dealership failed to make her feel welcome so she bought a Cadillac CT5 instead. She had called ahead and they were going to sit down and build one for order but when she arrived they seemed unwilling to really try, so she left. The car is beautiful inside and I would choose this over the BMW, the Audi, the Merc. If you want something different then this sedan is it. It's cheaper than all of those and way more upscale for the money. My biggest worries are reliability. Bunch of new tech in a car that has had decades of issues with its electronics. Granted their ownership has steered them in a better direction but its a stigma nonetheless. I have no doubt it will age must better than its predecessor in the looks department so owning one in the long run wont make me hate it later. After I wrap up buying a home, my top three contenders are the Jaguar XF P300, Lexus GS350 F Sport, and the Lexus 460 F Sport. This Jaguar wasn't even on my radar until we lucked up on it and now it's one of the only vehicles I think about! I really wish Jaguar would put more money into marketing it.

Lack of supercharged V6 took it off my list. Broke my heart because I love Jags.

This car overall is so well made. Very little compromise for the price. I would like some aggressive exhaust tips, but this is a luxury car first. Overall, I’d definitely want the AWD model !

I’ve got a 2017 XF and really enjoy it! Jaguar is my favorite brand since when I was young, beautiful and elegant…It’s totally different Germany car…if you have one then you know what I means!

I've been looking for a new ride and nothing has really sparked my interest. Recently test drove a brand new Envision and a Volvo S90 and they were just meh to me. However, this Jaguar model is appealing and I appreciate your review! Your commentary is always open and unbiased. I'll now be going to a dealership in the near future to test drive this car. I have a 2023 BMW 540i M Sport and a 2016 Jaguar XF 35T, I love the way my Jagaur XF 35T handles and the power it has vs my 540I. Jagaur needs to bring back the 3.0L V6 Superchaged to the XF.

A four cylinder engine in this Jaguar is a disgrace. Period.

Unfortunately, I think people are too hung up on Jaguars past of reliability issues. Today, they offer the strongest warranty out of their rivals and have improved dramatically. Time will tell.

That interior is very refined and classy. Jaguar has upped it's game with that Nav screen as well. Beautiful car and beautiful lines in the body as well. Now I can just let depreciation do it's job and snag it for $30k at Carmax in 2 years.😂👍

Spot on pricing. This is a perfect car for leasing, as opposed to long term ownership. Anybody who has owned a Jag, knows that a long love affair will empty your wallet down the road, much like a Giulia.😆

This is certainly a beautiful car inside and out, but I'm not completely sold on the reliability of Jaguars.

Feel like this is the best interior in the class. Only wish it was more reliable and had that supercharged V6 option. Surprised at the price.

Jag make such nice cars. Really underrated. Had a couple over the last few years and no reliability issues, despite the reputation. They made a mistake taking away the 6 cylinder from the XF though. I don't understand that decision. The driving dynamics of that car make it a match made in heaven.

You mentioned in your video that the XF has been around since 2016. Funny because I owned a 2009 XF.

I love jaguar i have been driving jaguars for over 20 years

This car reminds me heavily of my Mercury. Practicality, the luxury, and the focus on comfort and usability. They give you a full spare all that space and the athletic engine. I see Jaguar did learn something from Ford and Lincoln. It's a shame Mercury doesn't exist anymore, however if Mercury did exist in 2021 Jaguar would be it.

That's a great price point for a luxury and performance vehicle looks better than Mercedes-Benz BMW Audi Cadillac or Lincoln.

I love the look and presence of Land Rover vehicles, they’re absolutely gorgeous. But the reliability is the only thing keeping me cautious.

I know they dropped the bigger engines to keep the price under the Germans, but having owned a Supercharged V8 Jag, there is no way I could accept this; it would break my heart every time I drove it. The looks have always been lovely and that interior makes a BMW look like a prison cell. Who knows? Maybe in its final year before the EV-pocalypse they'll throw the SVR V8 in there!! One can hope!

The daytime running lights are more like 'L' shaped than a backwards 'J' shape.

I have 2 Jags in the driveway. Love to drive them. The grille medallion is the ‘Growler’ and the familiar emblem is the ‘Leaper’.

Its a pretty car, but I can't put this over something like an M340i or even the new TLX. The main thing this car has going for it has to be the brand behind it.

Once I saw the duct taped I pad on the dash it was all over. They have room in that dash to integrate it.

A 18 plus cubic foot trunk is huge. That beats every sedan I know of.

Beautiful car, and love the interior layout and material quality. Not having heated seats in the back is a bit disappointing. Seems like Jaguar will always be that niche alternative brand you get when you don’t want any offerings from the default choices of Mercedes, BMW, Audi, or Lexus.

If I were to go the Jag route,I'd have to get the XJ Supercharged or the XJR,because they're old-school sedan, just perfectly sized for my old-school family,but with just about enough muscle to satisfy me.

They make cool looking cars like all the British manufacturers, but reliability issues with British cars really concern me. Until that reputation goes away, I can’t consider them.

I currently have an XJ. I recently test drove a new XF S. The car was beautiful but it didn't hold a candle to my XJ's power or handling.

Man I wish they still offered a higher powered XF !!! It’s really REALLY NICE!! The price is also pretty awesome! I agree it should have a panoramic sunroof!! I have to disagree with you bout the seatbacks I like the plastic because I have kids that would end of tearing up the leather.

Most people that complain about jaguar reliability never own one. Not because they dont want to..but they cant afford. So they use the past to judge the future. Almost every car manufacturer in the past went tru their reliability phase due to rushing to more tech. Nowadays, almost every manufacturer is reliable just service them on time. And no issues.

The back looks like Audi A8 and that is the older 2014/15 facelift model

The problem with jaguars are reliability, resale value, and maintenance. They're truly luxurious to drive and will turn heads all day. Real nice feeling when driving in one.

I own a 2023 XF P300 and I absolutely love it. Thanks to the mild hybrid, I'm getting 37 mpg highway! The car feels like more than 300 hp and is truly a GT car that's a little sporty. The XF weighs hundreds of pounds less than the three row SUVs that have the same or less horsepower, but reviewers think it's enough for something that big? The XF is the best kept secret in the sedan market and I'll be sad to see it go in a year or two. It is truly gorgeous, especially in British Racing Green and really makes heads turn.

Hey Joe. Love the video and channel as always. But I had to point out a minor detail with the Jaguar Products, When optioned with the standard/panoramic roof, all Jaguar vehicles are given the option (that's also free) to black out the rear part of the roof. Just a little heads up.

Nice review, fantastic car. Just wish you would stop for a breath now and then. I think the 2L engine makes a lot of sense. It sounds great, plenty of power and you have the economy too. Fuel is getting more and more expensive, and in most countries, especially Europe, is far more expensive than in the US. Incidentally the XF has been around since 2008, not 2016. Amazed you didn't know that. It makes far more sense to use 12v car sockets rather than USB, and not many cars have three in the cabin. Most devices made for cars are 12v and use the 12v socket. You can get an adaptor for next to nothing. You can't get an adaptor that switches USB to a 12v socket.

3:42 - The wheels' spoke design is asymmetric. Are the wheels on the either side different then? 12:13 - Nope, they aren't...

Europe gets some diesel XFs also. The most efficient diesel does 48 miles to the gallon, which is 4.93l/100km.

So overall Jaguar makes a nice car. I just don't feel that Jaguar has that old unique classic British style it used to have back when they had the XJ6. It just lost something for me, and they look pretty much like any other luxury vehicle on the market. Still a nice car though.

Hey Joe, believe you got the stats wrong. The SE and S come with a 2L 248 HP engine with standard RWD. AWD comes as standard in the R Dynamic SE trim with the same 2L engine putting out 296 HP.

I’m British and I love Jaguars (especially the exteriors). However, I drive a Mercedes as I am scared to own a Jaguar due to engine reliability issues. In the UK , Jaguar and Range Rovers ranked very low in reliability ratings. As such insurance costs are high and I am not willing to take the risk of owning one.

Probably the only time I’m gonna disagree w/ u on the blac roof. Blac sunroof lining was a good idea. Maintains the blac accent characteristic of the jag. Black roof would offset me a little. Good move by jag

Great review! I have a 2018 XF Sportbrake S with the 3.0 supercharged engine. All the online reliability comments have me sweating, but so far I've had zero issues. Dealership (Lehi, Utah) is first class as well. Mine has a great warranty and free service.

Far better to have the 12v socket rather than the USB. Most people will have gadgets that have the 12v socket, and the adapters cost next to nothing. People want change for the sake of it without thinking it through.

Huge zonk on there only being options of turbo 4cyl. However, the upgraded interior is really nice.

My 2006 Jaguar S-Type has been lonely in the garage. I think one of these would be a nice addition. Hopefully they add the V6 option soon.
