I'm a woman and I watch all your videos! They rock! I've been riding for nearly 50 years. My grandpa turned me onto motorcycles as a teen. First bike was a Honda CT70. Second bike was a Yamaha DT100. Now I ride a Honda Fury and a Can Am Spyder. Keep the videos coming!
I got a, new to me, 2017 Rebel 500 and I LOVE it! Adjusted the seat, NOT made for comfort, added a windshield and replaced brake/clutch levers because I have freakishly small hands LOL it had a louder horn added... it's AMAZING 😁
Back in 1988 in Las Vegas, I bought my first motorcycle: a 1984 Honda CM450. I ranged from San Diego and Death Valley to SW Utah to North Pole Arizona. A Honda 500 is big enough to take you anywhere there’s a road. You might want to upgrade a stock seat to something more comfortable for long distances though. Don’t know about the current seats. I had a fantastic time on my 6-speed! Went from Death Valley (in March when it was 70 degrees; I wasn’t stupid) to 7700 feet elevation at Mt. Charleston when it was 114 degrees in Las Vegas. Honda makes a solid, low maintenance bike!
Keep watching videos, DanDanthe Fireman has some really great vids for new riders, be careful out there (I've been riding since 1995) The Honda is a great first bike btw
@goodfella21f so you're going to tell her to go for a totally different bike when she is interested in a cruiser just because she would look good on it?
I know im late to this but I just got the 2020 rebel 500 and can I just say love at first sight. It is such a good bike to learn on and figure out the basics of riding even moving into advance opportunities.
it's not what your riding but where you're going. It's not the destination, it's the journey. Rode a Yamaha tw 200 as my first bike. Ready to graduate and I think the honda rebel is it. Thanks, Sean!
I'm 170 cm and new Rebels are comfortable enough for mid-distance riding. It is quite nimble and light, versatile for both high way and splitting lanes in traffic. lots and lots of customization. Cheap parts to mod this bike. You can add a crash bar + forward control for long distance riding.
Is that a serious question??? The top speed is right around 101mph (so far at least) at bone stock with a 200 pound ruder on it. Also it's a 6 speed transmission. But a 500 is plenty of power for even an experienced rider. Idk anyone who rides around at 100mph even on the highway. It can sit at 75-80 very very easily. No buzzing or any of the Rebel 300 problems.
I’m definitely gonna get me a pair of your brand’s awesome riding gloves. I would love to support your company. I just need to get out of school and get a full time job first lol.
I'm a male 5-8 160 lb. just looking for a street legal vehicle to get me to and from work.I'm pretty sure that Toyota in front of you at the start of the video was double the cost. And I'm not going out like that. So I'm sold. I love your videos life long subscriber please keep the content coming. Big thumbs up to all the women that ride. on the scale of boys and men you have a place right there beside the men. it's not about what you ride or your destination it's all about journey.
I am a Woman...63yrs and short, 5’2”. I like to be able to set both feet firmly on the ground at a stop. Not a lot of choices available in the cruiser styles. I started out on a Honda 185 in 1978. Got away from riding for awhile then bought a Kawasaki 500 in 91. Sold the Kawasaki and bought a Harley 883 Sportster in 2009. Getting ready to sell the 883 and buy the 2020 Honda Rebel 500. It’s 150lbs lighter than my Harley, that and the low seat height are what sold me....also it’s an awesome looking bike. There’s probably no need to make a “woman’s video” just include us in your narration, we like riding motorcycles just like the guys and appreciate your thoughts.
I'm a guy and getting back into riding after 25 year hiatus. Only 5'6" and do not want go tippie to at red lights in my later years. This is not the Honda rebel of yesteryear, thinking about it.
Don't worry about it being big enough in this country alot of people think you need 1200cc to get by i know dudes that ride around on honda grom that are 6 plus feet over 280 lbs its about having fun getting away from life for a bit 😉
Hey Sean! Will you do a test for the Rebel 1100? I’m 6 foot 4, and wonder if i should concider the Rebel DCT or the good old Fury. I hope you read this and will reply to me :-)
Talking to my girlfriend “no i’ll never go on the freeway once I get my rebel 500..”. Watching this video with a huge grin seeing that the bike can handle the freeway :)
Lovely bike in real life, but for me it was far too small and I'm only 5'10. It's aimed at new riders, smaller men and women and to be honest it would be great for all of them. If Honda had a bigger version I would have snapped it up.
@@backyardbraaapn1017 I ride a Honda Rebel 300 2021. I have had a S40 650 2015, Ninja 300 2017 and a V Star 1100 2009. I really enjoy my little rebel🤸😁🏍
I’m 5’9” around 205lbs and the rebel is just about the perfect size for me! Don’t worry about it being able to get up to speed. It will get up to 75-80 mph pretty quick and still have power to pass.
The Honda CB500F, a Real Naked bike, at about the same price, will: 1) Be faster, about 6 HP more at about the same weight. (46 vs 40 hp) 2) Handle better. Much better suspension. Better on the Highway too! 3) Brake better. Much better brakes. 4) Be easier on your bum and nether regions, meaning longer, touring trips since you can move around the saddle, it is thicker and it has a passenger cushion included for those occasions. 5) Have a longer time between refill stops, with a 50% larger fuel tank. 6) Therefore be more suitable for the highway. 7) Be outgrown later than sooner. 8) Be pleasantly informative with a tachometer included. CONS: 1) It lacks on the looks department. Nakeds are UJMs. 2) The taller seating arraignment may not be suitable for newbies, more so the shorter ones. I happen to be right under 200 lbs and 5'10" which just happens to be the Average American Male Adult Size and Weight. I tested the Rebel 500 and it is way too small, unlike the naked Honda 500. I like the Kawasaki Z400 a little bit better.
I have that bike in that color. I love it. Gonna ride the hell out of it once fall finally shows up in St. Louis. I like both gloves. Letting wife decide.
These Honda rebels look so cool my first bike was was Ninja but these bikes have a whole different kinda cool of cool to them, I like this one and the or the Vulcan S I’m debating right now
Vulcan is faster but those tires on the rebel give it a way better feel kinda like a short harley fatboy... if your taller than 6ft go with the vulcan but either one wont disappoint
I own a rebel 500. You'd have to modify it heavily if you intend on using it as a long distance cruiser. But it's doable. I am making mine as street as possible.
Would it commute a 25 minute highway ride where the speed limits are 80mph. At 4500 elevation.... i know it will. But up hills will it struggle a lot? Being 6 foot 4 and about 190lb with gear
Justin, I have had a Rebel 500 for about 2 years. I have taken it up the twisties in the roads in Northern Thailand. I am 6'0" and 200 lbs. It can definitely get up to 80mph. I have gotten my top speed of 160kph (about 100mph) on the freeway. Depending on how fast you want to be going up hills, and how strait they are, it will struggle accordingly. I gave the Rebel 300 a test drive and took it through the hills. It definitely fell short. My Rebel 500 has taken care of me just fine, but I am not grinding pegs. Good luck with your search. It has been an amazing bike for me.
It might be too late asking an opinion from a 3 year old video but I’m saving for a Honda 500 Rebel. I’m 68 and have been riding off and on for 50 years. And been selling some of my 2nd Admenment purches from over the years to afford a 2022 Rebel. Should I be looking at the Rebel 500 or 1100? Big price difference. Or even an older model? Thanks.
Im thinking about this for my first bike, brand new from factory. But I’m 186cm height gotta feeling this might feel small... but love the looks of it😎😎
Awesome videos bro. It would be great if you guys give away a cool old bike with a clean title that needs to be restored. Keep in eye out for a Royal Enfield, Yamaha 650, Kawasaki W. To Bob out. Thanks bro
I’m 6,4, 225. And I am actually thinking about getting this bike ! The suspension is the only thing I’m going to get fixed for the back. Too soft for me !
I'm 6'2 270 and have put 7000 miles on this bike already and it does great for me. I agree with the suspension being soft but other then that 0 complaints.
I’m 18 years old and I’m a girl, I got so interested in riding a motorcycle and it seems really fun! But I’m debating which first bike to get. Either the Honda Rebel 500 or a sport bike like the Ninja 400. I’m pretty short like 5’2 so I can reach the floor with the Honda rebel and it’s really comfortable but i just LOVE that sport bike look. (It’s so beautiful... ;-;) Need some suggestions, or some of your opinions. Thanks :)
Sweet!! Did you have any problems on the road trip? (Overheating, etc. ) I just bought a 2019 (new) but I haven’t hit the road yet. Just city hopping so far. Only 800 miles.
I want this for my first bike I'm 17 and I really would go out of town with this but it would be cool to go to sturgis with my pops would that be possible with this bike?
you can get a nearly new harley sportster for about the same price you can get a big harley bagger thats older, with a LOT of life in it for not much more
I'm 5'9 and just over 230lbs. I'm looking at a 2019 Rebel 500. Will that be enough bike for me? I'm 36yrs old and haven't been on a bike since I was 18.
I'm 5'9" and 310 lbs and I really need that answered. I've never ridden before so it'll be my first if I get it, but I don't want to get it if it's gonna have me shopping for something bigger a few months down the line
