With the preview of the upcoming movie, some people have been complaining about the new art style. This topic first came up when Nijigaku switch to the anime art style and now we are here again. Is it worse? How important is this issue?

What i hate most is that Karin used to be the most stylish and mature in AS, but the anime artstyle did her dirty
@TrademarkedIPAdress
I'm gonna be honest, I never liked Nijigasaki's art style (but each to their own ig), but the movie looks like a 13yr old's low-budget passion project. Even for Love Live, that's an all-time low, especially considering that this is supposed to be Niji's movie.
@kriskojack444
I'd say the all stars or the anime. They both looked good and the anime didn't feel cheap . When looking at the movie one it just looks cheap and removes character .

Cutting corners on the eyes is a bad choice. Especially for a series that has always relied on bright-eyed close up shots to show the spark and passion in it's characters. Feels like the ability to emote will be much more limited.
@Pake975
Quick answer: it's subjective

I’m not a fan of the way the eyes look. Looking kinda derpy. If they kept the old eye style that would have been nice.

In the movie they all look the same, which is funny because peoole complained about same-face with the orginal LL art style but I never agreed with that. The movie style though? Yeah I dont like it. Too simplistic and kinda soulless looking. No love or expression in those eyes.
@reinaosaka2840
The main issue for me is the whites in their eyes are not the same as the other artstyles. It makes the cast look a lot more lifeless, dead inside, etc.

The visual designer is the Bocchi artist for the pv
@tsumugi9880
i like the sunshine artstyle more because its lively
@johnmckeon4498
I think these more plain eyes are throwing the designs off the most. They don't look sparkly like actual Love Live style eyes. Even going back to the original School Idol Project that has been standard for the art style.
@dimcross
The answer lies on Anigasaki director itself, Tomoyuki Kawamura he already said on his twitter that "the change of Niji production will coming"
@Serasugee
The new movie's embodies everything I dislike about modern moe style. I can't describe the new faces, but as always, something about the exact measurements reminds me of birds. Then there's the horribly bland clothing folds (early 2000's Akihabara folds for the win!), the hair that just looks like fancy plastic...
@NJDJ1986
the girls look more beautiful in SIFAS version!
@kilrathblade7618
i don't mind the artstyle, but the least they could do is to ensure that they draw it properly and not be so lazy that in some scenes, some of the girls have yandere eyes (eyes with no pupils)
@violetskydiver7684
I like them experimenting with different art styles, especially with one that will likely be familiar to many viewers. My only concern is how the 3D songs might look with the bocchi art style.
@alpha-sama
My stance on this is a bit complicated. I know that sometimes you have to make the art style more simple to have more fluent animation (and the animation so far looks wonderful). I don't want to hate on the new art style since like you've said it's not the most important thing about the movie and opinions on it might change once the movie fully comes out. I do have to say though that the art style is not impressing me at all right now. It kind of feels like they went further than just making it simpler and completely cut corners regarding the girls' faces and especially their eyes.
