Is the Polar Unite Watch Worth It? Full Review 

Luckily I bought my Polar Unite before I watched your review - otherwise, I wouldn't have bought it. I love my Polar Unite! It works next to perfect and experience very little of the issues you mention. I struggled with the band for a total of 2 days before I got the hang of it and now it wraps on very securely. I don't experience a lag half as bad as you describe here. Of course, the Polar Flow app is just gold and the Unite works flawlessly with it. Seeing how I am an extremely demanding user doing crossfit style workouts and a data geek, your review couldn't have been further from my experience - out of the box.

Loving that you keep these honest and upfront. I think the fact you include alternatives for same price is pretty nice since then I don't need to watch 5000000000 other videos. So thank you for saving me time!

This is a fair assessment of the watch. I have this watch and a Polar Grit X. I agree the rise to wake is annoying as sometimes it works but not always. This feature alone had me looking at the Grit X with it's always on display. I don't mind no GPS onboard as I typically have my phone if out and about. I to had some minor issue with the touch screen but nothing major just occasionally the swipe down. I swapped the standard strap for an aftermarket one and it's been great. But it's certainly not a smartwatch so if it's other apps you want then agree look elsewhere. I have not used the fitspark app as yet but it does take into account your other activities and presents appropriate exercises. Another reviewer suggested if you just do fitspark suggestions it will get you fairly fit. Note if you select the exercise it provides even more info not just the small animation. I agree though that it should have GPS after all it was released in 2020. Music controls don't bother me either as my Bluetooth earbuds do that. But it's great we have lots of options. My suggestion is buy what you need not the latest and greatest. Ha ha I say that after buying the Grit X with more features I barely use. As I said a fair review even though I still think it's a good heart rate tracker when paired with polar flow.

Thank you Katie, very sharp and honest. Unluckily I did not see your review before I got my PU. 1. By the end of the first day (=24 hours) (after recharging it last night) - the battery is 44% (without constant HR measure) - it is way too quick. 2. And yes, there is a constant problem with swiping - it is indeed annoying. and it is not a lag, it just does not work properly. Regularly it either does not go the direction I swipe to, or it goes into options\further levels (as if I tapped instead of swiping). These two features do not add happiness, for sure.

The Polar Unite is clearly aimed at people doing Crossfit or indoor cycling, that's why there's no GPS feature. Also, tho better heart rate accuracy is critical for high intensity workouts that involve interval training.

Glad I watched this video the whole point of buying a watch for me is to not carry my bulky phone around, but if you need a phone for GPS its kind of pointless. Might as well just use your phone to track workouts.

Oh my gosh.. I will never decide what hr monitor to get, lol. You have not helped either, but I really appreciate when a YTer offers an honest take instead of going for the commercial interests of mega corps. So thanks. :)

I'm a big fan of my midrange Polar Vantage M. I love the sleep tracking and HRV data, HOWEVER, I think that strapping LEDs to my wrist all night is detrimental to my sleep quality. Studies have shown that light on skin affects sleep quality, even if it is not picked up by your eyes. That's why I'm interested in the Oura ring, they use infrared (non visible) light.

But I would like to add something: fitbit says that the charge are water proof...well, I had two of them which "died" in the swimming pool...and this happened exactly after one and half years (in both cases)...after that, I decided to google about it and read that my customers had the same issue...

Loved your honesty Katie! I have been searching for an honest review on this Polar device and yours is the only one. Good job! How would you compare this with the Versa 2, the Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music or the Polar ignite? Those are the other options I am thinking for this price range and there is no video comparing these. thanks for your review, i wanted to take it as a gift to the wife, but after your review im a little skeptical, i think i will wait for a firmware update to see if they can resolve some issues, if the watch is disconnected at night from the phone to reduce some Bluetooth exposure(airplane mode), does it still record your sleep?when is reconnected will it update the data?

All I wanted was a device that would give me a reasonably accurate heart rate and allow me to time outdoor runs. Then they start wanting me to allow them access all kinds of personal information that I don't want to share. And there system won't allow me to go forward with the setup until I comply with their demands. The watch went back.

I think you got the wrong idea with Nightly Charge because you are saying that the data it shows is complicated but it is not true. It tells you how your dream was with a score with an assessment and a recommendation on how to train based on how you slept, then in the application all the data that you have mentioned appears but that is optional, Polar is one of the brands that simplifies the most things, it's not like Garmin with weird numbers and values ​​that you don't easily understand. And about calories, you should not give them importance, no device will be exact because they are all estimates and we all have different genetics, different bodies ...
