You can also change it to wifi client mode. This means it will connect to your router and any device connected to that router can see the scanner. But yes the mini 2 is a very nice upgradem i love it.

@@rapidnetrick connect the scanner and opem revoscan v5. Then in the main window. Under the scanner. There will be a gear. Click it. And go to the wifi settings. Click client mode. Enter your wifi ssid and password. Click save. It will say rebooting. Wait about 2mins. Unplug the scanner from the pc and then to a power bank. It will now connect to your router and any device on the same network run ing revoscan can find it and use it

I would really like to see a side by side comparison of the scan results from a Mini 1 and Mini 2. So far doesn't feel like a huge jump in scan quality, which is the only reason I would upgrade. I guess they have made it better to use for new customers.
@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul 5 месяцев назад
Its going to depend what you're scanning which is why I left it out (also it would have made the video REALLY long). If you are scanning objects without the tricky elements highlighted here (the deeper insets) I dont think you will see a huge difference in scan quality.

Yah... I'd LOVE to see how you managed to "pick up" all this detail, because taking the same exact scans with the same scanner I can't pick up even 1/10th of the detail you have here. I've been trying for DAYS, have wasted probably 100 hours trying to get one scan of a model with details like this, and honestly... This scanner is crap. It's no better than the pop 2 is. I've set up custom LED lighting to try and give the scanner the very best possible chance at picking things up, and it's just not working.
@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul 4 месяца назад
@NeoIsrafil That sounds really frustrating though I'm not sure how I'd be getting such better detail. Can I just ask if you've had the colour capture turned on? As I mention I found that light really helps. I wonder if there is a way to recalibrate it. I had one of my old scanner that wasn't up to par after I knocked it heavily until I recalibrate it, I wonder if something happened in transit (though the packaging seemed really sturdy on mine).

i have the Mini 1 that i bought on Kickstarter and feel like Revopoint used these and the earlier scanners as Beta products. even now my Mini is a pig for tracking. i remember the ad talking about gyroscope help for tracking etc but it just looses track. the mini 2 and range 2 that havent been released on kickstarter both have an imu and seem to track properly and are a lot more expensive than the kickstarters. my guess is the mini and range were worth what they were as kickstarters and these new scanners are more expansive because they actually work properly. personally i doubt i will give Revo any more of my money and im currently looking at the Einstar.

This looks great, I wish someone would use the Miraco and actually show the results of scanning a mini, like a space marine, a medium sized object AND a large object so people like me would know whether or not it's worth the $2,000+ CAD it costs here in Canada.

@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul 5 месяцев назад
I wouldn't use it for something that size. While the frame size is bigger than the MINI1 it isn't designed for something that big. For that I'd be going for something like the RANGE2. You can see that in action here and it still gets a lot of detail as you'll see especially at the end: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z62fjlB3Wjg.html

@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul 5 месяцев назад
Smaller than 5mm isn't going to work easily. You can get around it by putting the 5mm object on something larger and scanning them together but its designed for a bit bigger than that (around 10mm) I think.
@RoseKindred
@RoseKindred 6 месяцев назад
Oh wow, being able to interrupt, reorient the item, and continue is HUGE for me. It makes it so I can take my scratch-built and hand-carved items and bring them to print. Like a smaller WETA workshop and how they get detailed terrain models. I know it is not as detailed as they can be, but it is a step up.
@ArtisansofVaul

@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul 2 месяца назад
Shiny surfaces are an issue as they are that all 3D scanners. In most instances you will want to make the surface less shiny (talc or using a specific spray works well). The Creality Ferret does quite well with a relatively metallic shine but is not as good in other areas so it depends what it is you're scanning: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TkHa274B4VU.html

Maybe this is a dumb question, but is it possible in the Revopoint scanner software to scan a larger object with the Range 2, and then pause the scanning and switch to a Mini 2 to collect close up finer details in certain areas, and then have the software automatically align those two scans from different scanners?
@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul 4 месяца назад
I hope it's not a dumb question because I thought the same thing when I got it 🤣🤣🤣 So the answer is yes and no. You can't pause a scan and then start again with a different scanner as the software doesnt work that way. But you can do a scan with the RANGE2 then scan one part with the MINI2 and the software can combine the parts together. There are a few tricks to making it work better but yes you can. Only warning is that the MINI2 is a bluelight scanner so it's not a great choice to scan someone's face as it can literally blind them if their eyes are open.
@TobbyRyan

The Miraco can do as such although it is still made by Revopoint, it can swap between larger and smaller modes in the same scan.
@ArtisansofVaul

@@TobbyRyan Totally correct. Though the fine detail wont get quite as crisp details as the MINI2 because it isn't bluelight on the MIRACO. The difference is tiny though so there is a good chance it won't matter.

It can but it will take a longer time to scan. You'd probably be better with the POP3 or maybe the RANGE2 depending on the size of the objects. Do these parts have a lot of fine details? Basically it's always a balance between the detailing and the optimum size for the scanner. Would you suggest that if i wanted to scan my minis it might be better while they are unassembled?
@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul 5 месяцев назад
So I'd suggest sub assemblies. Put things together until you have parts as "together" as they can be without creating overhangs. The dreadnought was a good example; it would be best as the torso, arms seperate and then legs seperate. Now there are exceptions to that as the scanner should be on things 10mm and above in total (so it has enough features to focus on). Though there are tricks to get around that.
@b-tags
@b-tags 5 месяцев назад
@@ArtisansofVaul so if I had a couple of custodes parts or appendages of Marines that I needed extra of would they be considered too small?
@ArtisansofVaul
@ArtisansofVaul 5 месяцев назад
@b-tags so I doubt you would get it looking perfect. It would look as good as any scanner I've seen but you'd probably have to go in and work on some of the finer detail edges if you wanted something 3D printable. You can scan smaller parts like that but I normally scan it "on" something else that also has features to track where it is. But that's not hard, you just bluetac the part on top of a tank or something like that and then scan and remove the tank. It helps a lot with tracking

Having tried my friends Seal (after being sent one that didn't work by 3D Maker Pro) they can make whatever claims they want about its accuracy but I get more detail in a scan with the MINI2. That's no slight to the Seal, it's about £200 cheaper but the scanning (and I would also say the software) isn't as good. So it's important to decide the detail you need vs the price point. Overall would say neither is better than the other when you consider price but if you're just looking for the highest level of detail and easy use the MINI2 is the one you want. If you want cheaper but less detail then the Seal is a great choice.
