The problem is and has been for years is that the Broncos haven’t been able to honestly assess their roster. They kept thinking they were only a QB away, but the Oline has been bad for years. The LB can’t cover and Denver gets destroyed by TEs on the regular. Payton at least is trying to address the RT and G positions. They need a center, Bolles is ok at best. Sutton is done, Jeudy is a nice piece but not the alpha WR they thought they were drafting in the first round. They gave up to many draft picks to Wilson and the lack of talent is showing. The Dline, once a strength, is now filled with jags outside of Jones. They need to rebuild large parts of this roster.

Good breakdown, I'd like to add that although SP addressed RT it doesnt look like it pans out so far, and that the issues that are known McGlinchey has, are still there and unfortunately in the worst situations. For me personally its hard to blame the player on stuff that you know he isnt so good at, bur rather the coaching that cant polish it and the people getting him in and not doing stuff to help it (different pass pro sets, RB to chip,...)

It hurts even more when you look at the set up in front of him. Russ is going to get in the way of only close defender able to make a play as he's already looking at him and then he's got 2 OL accounting for 2 DBs downfield. That's a TD if it's a clean exchange.

☹️This is the problem with having such a bad defense. Your $250 million dollar QB has to be perfect. Other QBs are getting paid that much but they are on much better teams with better defenses. For that reason, I feel bad for Russ. He’s having the year no one expected, but every mistake is magnified. He should be getting deserved praised. But the team is losing because of the worst defense in history. So fingers inevitably get pointed at him when the team keeps losing. Such a shame.
@johnsiefken
@johnsiefken 8 месяцев назад
No, your $250M QB is supposed to be able to drive for a TD with the game on the line, not fumble to ball to the other team for a touchdown for the other team. He should also be able to lead your team to sustained drives and not have the offense disappear for most of the game. A rookie can do that…

As long as Vance Joseph is the defensive coach the Denver Broncos don’t have a chance. The Defense: Gave up 30+ points against the worst offense in the league (jets), gave up 30+ points to the 2nd worst offense in the league (Bears) and they allowed the dolphins to put 70 on em. The Denver offense put up 21 points against a top 3 defense(Jets). It’s that simple!

Thanks again! I needed this. From the TV copy I just couldn't see what was happening out there with the routes. We need this all 22 so we can see the whole picture. 1. Jets played a lot of zone and if that's the case we should have had plays designed to beat zone! 2. The offensive line and extra blockers from TE and RB are still not enough for the Jets 4 man front. This is the other problem. There were 7 guys blocking 4 rushers and they still got beat. This is a problem. At the end of it it's a 1-4 football team and doesn't look good enough to compete. As a true broncos fan I feel like the talent is there everywhere but something is still missing. Im hopeful. But most likely will be 2-7 by the bye week and it's season over at that point.

This here is why I wanted drew lock to takeover in 2022. Not for the hope that becomes who he looks like in Seattle, it that if he doesn’t do well, then we can look to the future without needing to worry about salary cap hell. We could of threw all our chips in on a young qb like maybe stroud via trade, or wait for one more year to trade for a high pick on this years loaded class. Everybody thought another vet qb was the way to go because our future always hit on one, but the culture was too far gone to keep riding on those coattails. Now, we have to find an innovative way to build a winning caliber roster or accept defeat for multiple years to come before Russ retires or gets cut. If there’s anybody to blame, it’s whoever was the higher ups before the sale was made and all the years prior to that but after bowlen.

Sutton and Jeudy are trade candidates, Clark, Jackson, Singleton, Bolles and maybe Javonte are too. You have to build around Surtain, Simmons, Bonitto, Mims, Dulcich and Meinerz. 5:30 in old versions of Madden, if you had a hyper athletic QB like Vick you could tactically call screen plays, then just run the QB behind the blockers for (at times) absurdly big plays. Not sure I remember seeing a QB actually do this in a real game like on this play - though I'm sure it does happen from time to time. Wonder if they fixed that in Madden - I haven't played in over 10 years, swearing off that horrific video game

i can tell everyone how this will work out. wherever there is value on this roster will get dealt before the trade deadline. if they don't get dealt before the deadline, they get dealt before the draft. that leaves russ to then have to develop a new rapport with those skill players. faced with those prospects, russ then lets management know that he wants to be dealt through his agent mark rodgers. then the broncos either cut him or find a trade partner (they won't because russ's contract is insane). russ then get a post june 1 designated cut and the broncos eat a ton of dead money, but at least they get to spread it out.

Took jeudy 3.5 quarters to actually get open. Sutton is just slow now and can't get open. I wanted to like javonte but Mclaughlin is better. So I'd say trade javonte and perine too. I’m a huge Russ fan and I think this team is heading in the right direction vision wise with Payton at coach despite the start. However, I think that fair or not Russ is on very thin ice and needed to not only play well this season but really lead this team to the playoffs to get Sean’s and ownerships support. That hasn’t happened and morale of this team and fanbase continues to sink. The team also has a lot of guys who don’t understand what a winning culture looks like. Likely the team will now rebuild entirely, getting rid of veterans and reducing chance of anything good coming from this season. I think it’s 50/50 at this point, and depends on whether ownership wants to start a rebuild with Russ at qb and let our new qb develop under him (maybe Drake Maye). If Payton wants the qb of future to start getting experience right away then that may be end to Russ era. I’d like to see Russ make a huge comeback and be able to stay and lead this team to success but bracing for possibility that it may just not be mean to be. Time will tell, never know what could happen.

If you want your QBOTF to run a real NFL offense, with timing, progressions, and reading defenses, why would you want a rookie QB to be mentored by Russell, who is horrible at all those things? Russell has only ever excelled at off-script plays, scramble drill, and deep shots outside the numbers, and of course, scrambling and read-option runs. Broncos would be smarter to cut Russell at the earliest financially viable opportunity.

At this point the Broncos really just need to trade everyone they can, and rebuild this thing from the ground up. Seems like we've had these same WR separation and OL issues for years now, under multiple schemes and coaches. Our defense was at least average last year, but I can't tell if the regression is because VJ is just that bad, or that teams actually respect what our offence is capable of this year with Payton. Russ is not the Broncos biggest issue, but its hard to see this team rebuilding around a 34 yr old QB, especially if they find themselves in position to draft a top QB in April.

The problem with the Broncos is that they were a below average team that traded away 7 top players for a very specialized QB. The Seahawks surrounded him with a dominant D so when he went AWOL for parts of the game, they were still in it. They also had good running backs to take the pressure off. Finally, they spent a #1 on a freak athlete in DK Metcalf so that RW could just throw it up for him. All that, combined with RW's improvisation skills, were a winning combination. There is a reason the Seahawks traded him. They knew that RW wasn't a good QB any longer. So, Average Team - Talent Loss - Declining QB - Coaching Chaos = Woeful Team.

D line is a joke and they convinced themselves that Jewell and Singleton were wayyyy better than they actually are. 2015 was a long time ago and the O line was crap even while winning SB50. 8 years later is way too long......Paton has had a couple of nice hits but way too many misses in the beef department.

The rw era should have never started. Everyone wants to "Win Now". Peyton Manning spoiled us; he came in and instantly turned us into contenders with legendary offensive and defensive teams that got us to Superbowl's. Now we've been expecting our savior with free agents. There's only One PFM. Let's Embrace the suck; tear it down and build with at core of young guys and actually let them play, good or bad. We suck, it can't get any worse than now, either they gain experience and become good players, or they suck, and we draft higher. because. kenum , flacco , bridgewater and wilson aint it and only keeps postponing extending this dumpster fire laughingstock of a team we have. it's frustrating when these old coaches stuck in their way keep playing washed up qbs instead of letting the young guys develop (except Lynch he really did suck). As we have seen their win now Washed up old qb method doesn't work. Draft talent and let them grow and build together.

Lots of dirty hands here: - Russ doesn't trust his throws in tight coverage (50-50 balls) - If you know your QB won't throw the deep ones, your WR will half-ass it - Red zone offense, they overcomplicate things soooo much. - Confidence is at all time low, they have the "Murphy Law" problem. They know shit will happen, so it does. - All that with a defense that is just atrocious, gives you no margin of error.

I think he trust his throws but he doesn’t trust his receivers to make those catches. In Seattle he trusted Doug, Paul Richardson, DK, and Lockett so he would launch the ball without question. When he threw those passes he knew they had great chances of making those catches. Sutton doesn’t create separation enough to consistently make catches like that and Jeudy drops too many passes. He doesn’t trust his WR’s 100% and that’s part of the problem with the offense now

If this tea. is 3-1/ 2-2 conversation way different Russ is back, russ is cooking in Denver the whole 9 but because they can't put it together for four quarters its Russ fault? I personally believe russ has a ton a value but the situation he has been in is horrible, 1200 11 tuddys and 2 picks is not bad enough to lose your job flat out, that means other people need to do THEIR jobs

No. Russ is 28/32 in QBR (an actual, real QB stat, unlike passer rating. Passer rating was developed based off of 1960s NFL play! From before there was even a thing called the Super Bowl lmao. It is an arbitrary statistic. Russ is bottom 5 in QBR this year AND last year. And he has had one of the 5 easiest schedules in the league this year!!!! Also, he was the biggest trade cost in modern NFL history, and he got the biggest QB contract per year at the time, right before turning 34 even though he had never been a pocket passer, and was the worst QB against man coverage the last 2 years in Seattle, especially against 2-deep safeties mixed in. He had a top 1-2 QB contract last year, still solidly has a top 5 QB contract this year, and has been bottom 5 in play (adjusted for EVERYONE and everything else on the field, with the comprehensive stats...). It's bad, and you are a fool who is more interested in worshiping Russ than giving fair analysis. The Lock and Bridgwater Broncos had tougher schedules, worse coaching, worse o-line play, and were worse across the board at the skill positions... and still were a 6-8 win team every year, just a few wins shy of a playoff spot. Russ has been an absolute anchor in every imaginable way. PLEASE learn something about football, you are making it truly embarrassing to be a fellow member of Broncos Country

Russ is washed, he’s not been elite (all be it on elite pay) for 3 years, he should take a pay cut so teams can build their o line, he holds on to the ball too long. But he won’t, he will just throw the o line under the bus and take his Team 3 money.

He thinks he's better than Brady (see his tantrum at SB 55), yet wants more than double the money and term than Brady ever got... never puts it solely on himself... everyone hates him, but everyone loved Tom, even when they hated him for beating their teams. Russ has the worst contract and trade ever in the history of sports under his belt. The Broncos were a 6-8 win team with abysmal coaching, worse rosters, a terrible o-line, and few to no weapons over the prior 4-5 years to Russ arriving. He gets here, everything goes WAY worse, and people say the Broncos were total dogshit all along, and it's not Russ' fault??? Make it make sense!! 28/32 in QBR. Bottom 5 this year, just like last year. Has played one of the 5 easiest schedules in the league pretty much. And he's 1-5, won't even touch the level of play of the Drew Lock/Teddy Bridgewater Broncos under Fangio 🤡 I wish i could erase these Russ supporters from the Broncos fanbase, or send them over to the Raiders or something. This is despicable.

It's not that easy to get separation for receivers on a Russ team because defenses know he is weak with on-schedule play so they guard a bit differently. He also isn't that great at looking off players so reading his eyes is more effective than it would be with some of the elite qbs. Jets D also knew that the only way they'd get punished hard is if they allowed explosive plays... good Ds have always challenged russ to dink and dunk them because he has not proven he can make that into an effective offense. Inability to deliver strikes the moment you hit your last step in a drop and play on schedule makes it infinitely easier for a defense in modern football.

Because you're counting an aberration game by the defense, but looking the other direction when Russ was the biggest trade cost of all time, worst trade in the history of football, has been an absolute cancer in the locker room with his staff and office shenanigans, and ranked bottom 5 in QBR last year AND this year!!!! All while having a top 5 QB contract in the league, which will be terminated (or traded, if God is truly a Broncos fan) before the end of 2 years... before the record-setting extension even kicks in!!!! It was the best QB deal ever signed per year at the time in NFL history. Before taking 1 snap for the team, because his agents and team insisted upon it. Right before turning 34.... never has ever proven his ability as a pocket passer, was worst in the league against man coverage his last 2 years in Seattle, and has been the same this year, especially when they mix in 2 deep safeties. Lock and Bridgewater and even the castoff QBs were taking this team (which was objectively way worse on o-line and at the skill position groups the last 5 years before Russ) consistent to 6-8 wins every year, against stiffer competition. Learn some numbers, learn some ball. It will be good for you and the rest of Broncos Country, trust me.

Let Gucci Denucci play for $245M. TEAM 3 AND OUT isn’t working out. In a month the Denver Donkeys will be 1-8, watch they’re about to lose 4 in a row. Looks like WAL-FART bought a bad FRY COOK who forgot his recipes. Maybe he forgot his recipes in Seattle? Did GENO steal his recipes and not write back? Maybe Ciara can visit Russ at Downtown Wal-Fart where he works as a greeter.. Just sayin’ enjoy that 1-8 DONKEYS!!!

Garbage take. Russ is the reason he is 28/32 in QBR, solidly bottom 5 last year AND this year. Lock and Bridgewater took worse teams, o-lines, and coaching to 6-8 win seasons every year, just a few wins shy of the playoffs. You know nothing. Russ was still ranked worst in the league against man coverage and 2 deep safeties in his last 2 years in Seattle, I was waiting for the cliff drop. Then my team traded for the bum!!! Russ is awful, the stats back it up, so do actual NFL QB minds. You're a fool. The Broncos are paying dearly for making Russ with the longest contract outside of Mahomes in the league, was the highest paid per year last year, and is still solidly top 5. He's supposed to take a pay cut, like the other actually good QBs have to help their teams out. Like Peyton and Brady did for years. But not Russ, no. Don't forget! Russ' charity got caught earlier this year for not meeting the 25% threshold for revenue going to charitable causes!!! He paid the same to charity as he did to 3 employees.... friends who didn't even work full time!!! about $2 mil to the 3 employees, and to charity. Then Russ comes up with a lie about how "oh we don't count all the money we are responsible for donating..." like that isn't illegal as well, and like his charity wouldn't want to take credit for it, nor would any of the other businesses involved???? If you believe that, Russ can sell you ANYTHING. Just like he is doing now on the football field.....
