All my bike are CX bikes. Take the wider tires and still responsive. Classic 2008 Cannondale CX9 is the singlespeed with tubular wheels for the retro bike. Old Jamis supernova 2x10 general use bike is now the trainer bikes due lack rim brake wheels in pandemic. Current outdoor bike everyday and races, just change tires, is a 2017 Raleigh rx2.0 mech disc 1x11. With the many local roads in SoCal foothills is in moderate to bad condition and areas open space mixed in makes CX/ race gravel bikes a good choice.

That is quite the quiver. I'm sure those bikes have seen some epic rides!

@@Veloworthy the bridge era of peak CX racing/ early gravel had some good bikes made and easily can be updated. Crux, supernova, rx line, with some other bikes are competitive today with high end specific gravel road bikes. Used the rx. 2.0. At mammoth tuff last fall and Temecula gravel whine late Jan. with 40mm-38mm rear depending on tire & inner rim width. Front 42-45mm max width. Given to me last year out of team storage collecting dust in the process of replacing worn out stock parts to more modern standards. Gravel bikes going more road endurance or adventure geo now so giving up the easy multi use bike.

I ride a crux also, but an original 2013/14 model so an actual cross version with disc brakes and skewers so no through axle..tyre clearance is restricted to 38 max at the rear but can get a 42 on front,I do the same and ride both road and race gravel on this and it’s perfect but I have bought a pinarello grevil f and I’m just setting it up for gravel only, but I love the versatility of the crux and I’m considering buying the new crux to replace my old one as I’m struggling to find wheels that can fit my … happy riding and great video 👍🙏

That is quite the build. When you ride the latest Crux, it feels like a rocket ship!

I’ve been riding my Crux in road mode for a while now and love it. I’m also running the 32 Mondos on the Roval Terra wheels. I’ve contemplated switching to 2x but you reminding me why I haven’t as it could limit rear tire width. I still ride gravel with it and don’t want to sacrifice clearance. And FWIW you can bikepack with a Crux, you just have to deal with strapped bags vs bolt on. I just picked up a Tailfin Aeropack and it fits perfectly.

I race gravel. I current setup is ‘24 S-works Crux with mullet, CLX Team wheels (lighter version of CLXII) and the Roval Rapide cockpit. I have no issues with the wheels or bar/stem. The bike is fast on gravel.

That set up just looks so simple and so clean. If you’re not doing bike packing etc. I really don’t know why anyone would need more. I suppose it’s only the particularly rough, traction-poor terrain that you’d need something with more tyre clearance but sounds like for the vast majority of what you do, this is perfect. Beautiful 👌🏻

This bike rivals many of the dedicated road bikes I've ridden in the past.

I ride a 2018 Giant Toughroad with flat bar for gravel and road with a 2x setup with 42/28 chainrings and 11-42 cassette (using entire 47t capacity of GX derailleur). It came with 50c tires, and it looks to have clearance for a little bigger. Currently running 42c Specialized Pathfinders on a set of aluminum I9 mountain bike wheels.

Sounds like a setup that can take on anything!

Really a great setup! I can see how this is a great option for a wide range of riding. I'd love to have a bike like this one day!

I have 4 bikes and ride a little over 8,000 miles per year. My Crux for about 6,000 miles and the other 3 bikes around 700 miles each. For road I have a Seven 622s, gravel Salsa cutthroat and Mountain a Trek ProCaliber. To make the Crux a little faster on Road I changed out the Front Chain ring from 40 tooth to 44 tooth.

I think is an excellent choice. the components are well chosen. maybe the Roval Rapide cockpit...so sufficient for amateur levels. and I say this without any nasty judgment

Am I weird because I kinda like the comfort and all day compliance of my Giant Revolt Advanced Pro 1 on the road? I had a custom Chris King wheel set built for it with 25mmID 50mm deep carbon rims, and I run it tubeless with GP 5000 AS TR 700x35 (they measure 34 on those wide rims).

thanks for sharing, great 2x1 bike indeed. I wonder how pedals swap between road and spd impacts seat stack. I have tried that myself and it caused me back knee issues

Did you need to refer to it as "sworks crux"? Couldn't just call it a crux?
