Always been fascinated with the Shroud and by extension Jesus himself.. it has furthered my relationship with Jesus not hindered it. Behold "I am" come as a light unto the World... For me the Shroud is literally evidence of the light

Thank you so much for this excellent discussion, Robert and Emily. I've recently read a fascinating book on this topic, called A Burst of Conscious Light by Dr Andrew Silverman. I don't know if Dr Silverman knows about ACIM, but I definitely got the sense that maybe he does. Some of the things he says sound very Course like. He explains some very interesting scientific evidence on the Shroud. Recommended reading.
Right but when you're carrying that much light which Jesus was carrying, and you re-enter your body, it's going to leave sort of an imprint of the body. Kind of like a flash on cameras.
The Marino/Rodgers secret repair hypothesis has not been accepted by any textile scientist who has examined the Shroud in person. Relics which were in the tomb along with the Shroud have also shown severely skewed radiocarbon dates. The Sudarium has been radiocarbon dated three times, and each test gave an 8th century result. The Titulum Crucis test was 11th century, and the Tunic was 7th century. The Phillips/Rucker neutron absorption hypothesis accounts for these anomalies, but the repair hypothesis fails. Many shroud researchers believe that that separate cloth does exist and was removed from the face before the shroud was applied, and that it is currently called the Sudarium of Oviedo.
@jeffreyerwin3665 Remember, the disciple Thomas didn't have the written word as we have it, and he knew it was Christ before him as he knew what He looked like. We don't. So believing on a cloth with an unknown someone's imprint on it doesn't count. Even Christ said about the rich man in hell regarding his brother's. They have the law and prophets which was enough to send them to hell.
God allowed it to exist just as He kept His word intact until this generation that is only now twisting scripture to fit their liking. There is no fear of God in the west. God left this relic for this scoffing skeptical times! Believing God exists is not faith as James 2 makes clear. Believing what He said is whole other matter. Faith is a living relationship like a marriage. You grow in the others faith after you make your vow. … same with faith. So we have one more apologetic argument for our day…. The science discovered in study of the Shroud and Sudarium!
@jeffreyerwin3665 If you read your Bible, we are all created in His image. It also says Christ was not physically appealing, which clearly, the image on the cloth is. It is not Christ. Believing it makes an idol of that cloth, as foolish people desire objects. Sciences job is disprove or deceive when it comes to Biblical truth.
