in today's video I would like to share my impressions of the Sigma 56mm 1.4 lens for the Fujifilm XS20. I show (unedited) pictures and a small video impression.

I shoot professionally with Fuji Gear, I picked up the Sigma 56mm F/1.4 soon after it was released on Fuji X Mount, and was blown away by the quality, so much so, when the Sigma 23mm F/1.4 was announced for X Mount I pre-ordered it! Both lenses are my main carry and work lenses (I work in a studio and events) much more expensive Fuji lenses don't even get used now. Both Sigma lenses I have are sharp across the frame (I normally work stopped down to F/2.8). I'm not a photographer with a brand loyalty or a guy that insists on an aperture ring etc. I would say I am more looking at lenses Sigma is releasing for Fuji more than Fuji lenses right now, I have been that impressed with the performance (especially at the price). When I am working I ask, will it make me money before I buy gear. In the case of the Sigma 56mm F/1.4 at £400 and the new Fuji XF56mm F/1.2 WR at £1000 I asked will the fuji make me £600 more, and the answer was no. Pixel peeping the Fuji is slightly better, but that is not how you view printed portraits, or normal viewing on screen (no one zooms to 300% to look for differences on an image you send to the client)

Really nice YT channel, definitely I need to stay here longer! I'm hesitating now between this particular one and the Viltrox 75mm f1.2. In my country (next to yours I guess 😉) the price difference between them is exactly 185 euros. With similar focal lengths I already own Fujinon 50 f2 which is great in many ways but could be a bit more bokeh as you mentioned, and manual vintage but renovated Helios 58 f2 which I even like more for slow portrait photos and bokeh is even better (if your subject is relatively close to the centre) and I have impression is slightly better in lower light conditions even its the same f stop and on paper it's not huge focal length difference (FF equivalent 75mm vs 87mm). I also have one zoom 16-80 but it's f4 (medium quality but OIS is great!) Another alternative, ultra cheap one is TTArtisan 50mm f1.2 but it's manual and focal length exactly the same as I already have. So tough decision but this Sigma 56 looks like the best in aspect ratio quality/price :) Also I'm thinking to wait and save some money for first FF camera and do portraits with it, but it's gonna be waiting until 2025 haha :) Merry Christmas!

Convincing w/o hype, user experience vid. Love the bikes photo. How was the AF responsiveness? Did you find lens flare an issue? Cheers!

thank you so much for your kind words :) the AF was very good this time. Had some issues using it the first time. didn’t have any issues with lens flare to this day. but i haven’t shot in direct sun light as germany is cold and dark since weeks :D i hope you have a great day

I think the viltrox 75 1.2 is the better choice for the price and if not focal length

It is also a great lens, but sometimes you dont want so much compression/distance from your subject.

I own that and its too tele for some scenarios where 56 could be my middle ground for the sigma zoom 18-50 and 75mm viltrox. I still feel owning two portrait is kinda redundant
