I’ve had the 12 mini since it came out here in December in South Africa. I had the xs max before, the mini has definitely stopped me from using my phone too much
Side-note: You make a great point about how, for example, Instagram's app is way better and more addicting than their mobile-web version. This is done intentionally, and mainly because if you use their app, they can track a LOT more about how you use the app than they can on the web. In the app, they track how long you look at an image, how long your finger takes to scroll over an image, (and hundreds of more data points) etc, to predict what you like and don't like. SUPER creepy stuff. But anyway, that's why using the web-app sucks, because they want you to use the actual app instead, to harvest more data. Privacy-minded individuals try to use the web-app versions when possible over the native apps for this reason, mainly.
iOS 14 helps with that more and turning off analytical tracking helps. Plus I set 5 minute limits in screen time so I dont get trapped for a long time. I struggle with Twitter, but after 2 passcode overrides I get annoyed doing it and I'm done for the day.
@@doomy_doomy2225 yep but you can’t stop apps from tracking how you tap on the app. What you look at. How long you look at it, etc. Also, all of the tracking elements that you’re referring to can already be turned off in Settings, most people just don’t know about it.
Watching from 12 Mini 128GB Blue. Yes the smaller screen size can make you less addictive of using your phone. Coming from Android Xiaomi Black Shark 2, it's very true, at least for me.
I'm also addicted to my phone, my screen time is around 7-8 hours per day which i think it is too much. I'm trying to use my phone less by reading on my kindle, and it helps me to reduce the screen time. Anyway, i really hoped they keep making 'mini' phones.
I just sold my s21ultra and bought 12 mini and an iPad Air 4. I was using the s21 ultra for about 8-10hrs a day which gives anxiety and mental stress. So I came up with this decision. I’ve transferred all my social media apps to iPad, and keeping only WhatsApp and RU-vid with some other banking apps on my mini. This helps in reduced using of the phone.
thats a great idea. I have the 12 pro and my screen on time used to be 8-10 hours a day. I've managed to level it out to an average of 4-5 hours a day this week. And now i feel like my pro is sort of useless and now i just want a mini.
I have an iPhone 11 and I enjoy it Recently I have come to terms with the fact that I am addicted to my phone so much it was having a negative affect on my personal life and my profession. I deleted all social media apps and apps I don’t use. Now I keep those apps on my iPad and now on my down time I treat myself to those indulgences less I am thinking about getting the iPhone mini 12. Still undecided.
Very well produced video, Harris! I probably scroll through Twitter too much, but I've unfollowed a lot of accounts that I don't need to see. (still follow you, though!) I feel pretty good about how much I use my phone, I think it has increased due to the pandemic, but I mainly use it to stay in touch with people I can't see often. Would love a review on the AirPods Max!
Thank you! Yep, the pandemic definitely makes having a phone very important for talking to people you can't visit. But glad to hear you're content about your phone usage, keep it up! Unfortunately, I returned the AirPods. Didn't seem worth the money for my needs.
Utilize screen time in iOS. It helps if you have problems. That and I separate my use cases. I use my tablet for media consumption and my phone for texting and school so it helps keep it under control for me personally.
technology is how people stay connected these days instead being attached to analog telephones and tv sets. humans and their behaviors have not changed. most have a certain level of addiction in their personality. if we didn't have smart phones it would be something else. features like measuring screen times to show you have less than the other guy is the behavior that has been around since we lived in caves. caveman, ugg, has a better club than grog so ugg can feel superior to grog. people use technology now to make themselves feel superior to the other guy just like owning a cooler car. it's all the same behavior. technology hasn't not changed people. we are slow evolvers.
I like the idea but I have to use WhatsApp a lot in my work and do a lot of typing. I use SwiftKey on Note 10+ set to max size... Does anyone have trouble typing effectively with the tiny keyboards on the Mini and SE?
I'm trying to use it more conscientiously. Avoid those mindless social media scrolling, organize my journey in order to have productive time and relax time using the phone or not. I'm limiting myself to 3-4h/day screen time on the iPhone. I only use it with a purpose in mind. Also the Apple Watch and AirPods helped me a lot reducing the screen time. With the cellular functionality I can leave my phone on the table or my pocket at work and answer calls and messages with the watch only. I can set a run with my cellular Apple Watch and AirPods only and leaving my phone at home without being worried missing a call/email/msg.
Good video👍I am a very light iPhone user and I absolutely love my new iPhone Mini, “BUT” I am extremely HEAVY iPad user, I keep two fully charged iPad Pros on the end table beside my recliner in our living room, one ☝️ will not get me through the day on most days and this week has been even worse with this Arctic front here in Texas.
