I completely agree. So much overkill in all these new cameras. Doesn't it say something if 50 years ago we had better photographers?...

I currently have the A1, A7SIII and A7IV and even the A9. The A7III was my first introduction into the Sony full frame line of cameras and is what made me switch (even though I still have other systems). I have since sold the A7III, but looking back on weddings that I shot with that camera, there is really no difference in the quality of the photos compared to my 'newer' gear. In fact, if I didn't focus on video (hybrid) shooting as much as I do now, there is no reason why the A7III wouldn't be able to be my workhorse camera for the unforeseeable future.

Totally agree! The capability of the a7iii is overlooked these days. It definitely lacks in video features compared to newer models but photo performance is absolutely still stellar and produces great quality for my clients. Thanks for the comment!

I used to think so too, but the a7r4 is massively better than the a7iii in good light. As in, you get that "wow now it looks pro" reaction.

@@ciprianoravet I too have the a7III & a7IV. Use them both especially when needing two cameras (one with 85 1.4 & the other with a 35 1.4) shooting combat sports. The speed & performance of both are flawless and don't mis focus. I do like the extra megapixels of the a7IV and the additional settings for photo and video but in terms of which one is better I can't tell the difference. Tons of a7III used on the market making it the best $1100 used camera I can think of.

I started with the A7s in '14 and started doing Astro Milky Ways because of the hype but got it basically for the 5@ +/- 3EV bracketing , It was the era of HDR due to DSLR's low dynamic range and 5 @ +/- 2EV is great for Blue Hour to get the darkside of say driftwood bright and colorful as well sunrise/set with sun above horizon for a small sun. I got the A7iii because Milky Way photographers recemented and the main reason that no one ever talks about is the 1. dual ISO's getting less noise after 12800 and up 2. ISO Invariance,it allows for a dark image to get normalized by just increasing exposure in post, say you are using Zebras to get Whites without being blown out while adjusting the EV dial in the neg yes a dark image BUT a little exposure increase and shadow increase you get a normal image. And if you do Astro Milky Way and select Day WB you will see what others get rid of not knowing what it is, the colors of high up atmosphere gases of green or magenta and others, most think it is color noise but not. This camera was a turning point for night captures of colorful cities. and proof that it is not the pixel count that matters it is the camera sensor processor as can be also proved with any A7R model. Sharpness/clarity is a lens thing along with software. Even though profiles are not visible in RAW you can select in post programs like Lr and are easier to interep that the A7SM3 or A7RM5, Ilike portrait for night beach shots - bright and colors are great before sliders adjusted. Last but not least it is still being made and sells on the norm for the same price it started with $1999 yes a used one maybe less but new and unused a blessing. The only missing from it is the A7/r/s M2's is the on camera apps a reason to keep those forever too! Menus are what you use no matter you know where everything is and complainers are just that spoiled and no one gets the way they want it any way. I keep one in my everyday carry bag with a 16-35mm and the 24-240mm in another pocket and some supplies, on my shoulder or in car for instant capture. I can do birds/astro/micro at moments notice like using a cellphone camera.

I bought my first photo camera 1 month ago, Sony A7 mii with kit lens for 800 euro and I am extremely happy. For beginners any camera to start with is good enough, most important is to answer the question, what is my budget and what I like to do with my camera. I think lens are more important than camera itself. Now I am searching for something better than my kit 35-70mm f3.5-5.6 lens. I might get next tamron 28-200, and after tamron 17-28.

Very viable! You could even use your a7iv for video and the a7iii strictly for photography instead. The sensor on the a7iii still takes great photos compared to even the a1. Either way you can’t go wrong!

I have been debating on which camera to buy, my main contenders are the Sony A6600 and the A7iii, I like both camera but should I spend more the get the full frame look?Is it worth it or should I just go with an APSC sensor?
@AustinDavisYT
@AustinDavisYT Год назад
The a6600 is a great camera, and if I remember right you can get it with a kit lens for roughly the same price as a brand new a7iii body only. So if budget is tight and you’re wanting to maximize value, I would absolutely go with the a6600 kit. You can get a ton of projects and experience under your belt with that alone. Great video and great photos out of that thing. But if you have some extra cash to invest in either the a7iii kit or separate lens I would 100% just do that. The full frame look is worth it for me when it comes to how I prefer my projects to look. I rocked the a7iii and FE 24-105 F4 G OSS for many projects photo and video alike as a more intermediate set up. Full frame is not necessary for great looking content but it definitely produces a “better” looking product imo. It’s also worth noting with a full frame sensor it’s easier to get wider perspectives with no crop. So if you plan to shoot a lot of landscape or real estate projects, full frame might be worth it to invest the extra cash into because of that factor. Hope this helps!

FULLY ARTICULATING SCREEN IS NOT NEED AT ALL. I always shoot using viewfinder, never ever needed a screen. pople who complain about screen is usually noobs who still uses screen and can move their body to a position that is not requiring any articulation of screen.

@BNC593 Год назад
Not In my opinion. It’s outdated. It’s only plus is 4K 120. It’s also too noisy where ISO counts most in 6400 or less. I have no idea why they chose 12800 for their second native ISO. I guess just to say we have a cleaner image at absurd ISOs; although even at 12800 and up, the image is not great and take on a plastic smear to the look.
@AustinDavisYT
@AustinDavisYT Год назад
The A7iii only shoots 4k up to 30fps. 120 is 1080p. But I will agree that iso can get pretty grainy not much past 1600. I try and plan shots as best I can to keep me from cranking it up too much and it produces great stuff. To each his own though, I appreciate your input!

The two video edits where almost useless for comparing the two cameras because they were completely different videos with different lighting, subjects, and movement. There was no way to accurately compare the proformance of the stabilization, autofocus, or other physical differences between the cameras using those wildly different edits. Not only that, but he judged the performance of the cameras based on the artistic shots he got, not on the cameras themselves! A professional with an iphone could make a better video than a 14 year old with an 8k cinema camera but that does not mean the iphone is better. Unfortunately, I won't watch another video from this RU-vid channel again unless changes are made, because clearly the quality and accuracy of information is not a priority.
@AustinDavisYT
@AustinDavisYT Год назад
And that was the whole point in those two edits. To take the emphasis off stats and help people realize that when it comes to creating (especially when starting out) take your eye off the bells and whistles and focus on actually using the tools. The point that I think you missed. If you want every detail and a checklist of the stats there are plenty of channels out there that make the same video. Gerald Undone is fantastic for data and information. Unfortunately I won’t be changing my entire channel style for anybody but the beauty is that there are multiple channels out there for you to check out! Hope you find the video that best serves you.
