One of the things I compare is the cost & features on the monthly plans. I just got another SpyPoint Flex-S (Solar) and it's 36 mpixel and has some other new features, such as an 'instant picture' request feature too. SpyPoint gives me 250 / pics per month for FREE, or $5=1,000 pics, or $8 = Unlimited... so for me, that's a huge savings over a dozen cameras. And great to be able to use them all in the off-season for $0 monthly cost and still get 250 free pics each.
Yeah, it definitely goes through alkaline batteries faster than the Tactacam Reveal. I haven't tried lithium, but a solar panel is the way to go long-term.
@@MobileDeerHunter I'm not sure that'd be an adequate solution for me considering my hunting spots are almost all hardwoods or thick cover of some sort.
@@MobileDeerHunter The solar is a good solution. SpyPoint's external solar has a battery in it - so the panel can be mounted where it's in the Sun and then plug into the camera which might be on the other side of the tree.
@@MobileDeerHunter Chews thru batteries, but ESPECIALLY if you set it on IMMEDIATE mode. On IMMEDIATE mode, the cellular connection stays powered on and connected 24x7 and that will (of course) really chew thru the batteries.
Any ETA on the video release? Ive narrowed it down to both of these cameras and plan on going to my hunting land in two weeks to put the camera out. This will be my first cell cam. Ive been running Wildgame Innovations Terra cameras for years because they are cheap and work but now I live 3 hours from my hunting land.
I'm hoping to shoot it this week. It's a lot to cover in a video, so it takes time to plan. But I was impressed with both cameras. If I had to recommend one over the other, I'd probably go with the Tactacam due to better battery life, a little better HD image quality (the photos stored on the SD card, not necessarily the ones sent to your phone), and overall reputation. The one feature I really did like on the Spypoint is that it has internal sim cards for AT&T and Verizon, and it will automatically choose the carrier with the best signal wherever you hang it. The Tactacam comes with both sim cards, but you have to choose one or the other to put in the camera. The Spypoint is also GPS enabled, so if you forget where you put it, or someone walks off with it, you can potentially find it. They both seem to be great cameras based on our limited testing.
@@MobileDeerHunter thanks for the info! In my area Verizon is all that get service anyway so that’s not a concern if mine. I was leaning toward Tactacam and you confirmed that choice.
