Thanks for doing a review of the Wilderness Edition Crosstrek. I came to the Crosstrek from a turbo charged 3-cyl. That turbo vehicle had the same horsepower but could access torque at a lower RPM. Because I was not used to letting the engine rev, it made the Crosstrek feel very sluggish. I had to relearn the torque band. Now it seems fine. The 0-60 is fine. It won't win any races but the 2.5L is fine for driving around and merging onto the highway.

I was planning on prchasing one of these. Aside from the dealer being stingy on my trade-in, i found that I just didnt fit. Im 6'2" and 240 pounds. My head was right up against the moonroof edge. Another deal breaker: no navigation! 35K and no navigation? After actually driving it, found it wasn't what i had hoped. I got instead a 2024 Bronco Sport. More power, a proper transmission, better gas mileage and LOTS of room. And excellent navigation. In fact, the software over all is superior on the Ford. With proper Falken Wildpeak tires on the baby Bronco, my bet is that the little Subie has a contender in it's own segment.

With the fronts seats all the way forward, you can comfortably sleep in it at 6' tall (and probably a few inches beyond) without having to lay diagonally. I have a Luno air mattress that's made to fit the Crosstrek, and it works well. No need for a rooftop tent IMO. You'd probably want an air mattress of some sort though, even a cheap one, just to deal with the hump in the middle (where the seats fold). I've taken it on highly rutted, fairly rough trails twice since I got it 5 months ago, and it handles well. Side note: I don't get why someone would opt for the Wilderness if they're not going to take it off-road... kind of a waste. Just go with the Sport or Limited if that's the case. They're cheaper and get better fuel economy.
