I don’t think they are obsolete at all. Almost every time I take my 03 out I get a thumbs up or a wave. An 18 year old kid came up to me in a parking lot at a graduation party with his phone out taking a video and said it was one of his dream cars. Gave him a couple revs and made his day. The Terminators are legendary and are a driver’s car. My generation was taught how to drive on manuals and there’s nothing like banging through the gears of a Cobra.
@@Jordancraigmiller if there is any hope I did have a group of young kids (middle school aged?) run up freaking out and asking me to rev the Durango when I rolled into Teeter. I think some of the future generation will still have a love for cars. You just have to keep educating them. 🍻
The 03-04 Cobra is a violent masterpiece. It's a full-on muscle car, where it's arguably one of the last platforms to ever transcend that raw guttural feeling from the 60's into the modern-muscle car era. Shortly after, we know engineering and technology diluted that experience and those that have left the old girl regret doing so; and many have stepped back into another, with promises to keep their beloved Terminator forever. It's all in the experience of ownership. For that, there are so many places to go with content as these beautiful pieces step over the 20 year mark and into classic car territory. Keep it coming.
Bought my 04 cobra 2 months back with 26k miles on it and I am 99% sure I would not trade it for anything even a new shelby. It's got a big Kenne Bell on it and put out 570WHP on the dyno so it can definitly get up and move a lot quicker then it could from factory but I didnt buy it to compete with other cars. It's like you said "It's the expeirence". I'm planning on keeping it under 2k miles a year and hopefully hang on to it for many many years
@@coryboy345 What you say that? What you thinking? It broke down on me 20 miles after I got and had it towed to a mustang shop in my state. They re-tuned, injectors, and found some bad wire taps in the ecm and looked the whole car over said all was good. They did tell me that I could tune this for over 600hp if I wanted. It's a 2.2L KB makes 15-18lbs
@@Lee-wj4ly Broke down after 20 miles and already had multiple issues, lol. And you're asking me why i think it's not running right? Seriously? On a very very conservative tune, a 2.2 KB should make 620 at the wheels with just a BAP, injectors, and tune.... Something is wrong.
Put some slicks on it and take it to the track or try auto x. The 03/04 cobra is the perfect mix of modern cars and old school muscle cars. That’s what I love about mine. With a good driver these cars are still competitive with modern cars.
Car sounds great! I have a very strong sense of nostalgia for that era of cars so I’ll never get bored with Terminator content. If might be fun to retell the stories behind how this car came to be or even some of the 90s mustang lore.. I want to say there is a book about it but the name escapes me. Some younger people may not even know the stories and some older people likely forgot by now. 🍻 I also think newer cars lack the raw feel of older cars, impossible to capture the feel, vibrations and smells. The total experience is just lost with newer cars.
I can tell you what will wake people up. Stick your go pro on that outside of that car and run some newer cars like that dads c8 and watch you smoke it. What the car “feels” like, and what it is are 2 different things. Not sure your power level but I’m 750 with my cobra and smoke modded new cars. Start running cars and it will excite people

My dad had a 97 and then 03 cobra when I was a kid. Unfortunately as far as performance goes the termi is obsolete. New cars will never feel the way the termi did and the nostalgia makes me want one so bad.
04 Cobra Owner.....ah NO the Cobra is not obsolete in 2022, actually it's the other way around, having a car that is an American Supra, there is nothing to say about that, yes new cars will hook, yes new cars will drive better, that is the point of a newer car I would think? I have a s550 as well, cars are not even in the same lane to be honest, Cobra is a true classic for so many reasons, you can get any car to hook if you do what is needed for the car to hook????? it NEVER gets old when I drive the Cobra, the sound, the looks, the thumbs up, people like older fast cars, I think, my s550 is sick, but I get more love in the Cobra, so funny I get people that actually ride with me in traffic, and when Im at the light, I get people that tell me they just love the sound, so NO to your subject line.......
I have a 2000 m5 and it's kind of the same deal as the termi. Newer bmw owners dont like it because it doesn't do all of the electronic party tricks, but it's a raw manual only experience that you cannot get anymore.
Have owned a few s197’s and now i am trying to get me a done up terminator. These cars are so rare now it’s getting close to impossible to find a good low milage one that has not been beat to hell. The terminators and the s197 boss 302’s are very hard to find now. Eight years ago you could find them a dime a dozen but no so much anymore and they will only get rarer. If you sell it you most certainly regret it. No one cares about the new mustangs, everyone and their grandma has one, so much so that you can get a 1200hp twin turbo for 55k cause they are everywhere.
First thing Cobra's will always be cool Second I Feel like the content has reached its peak, there's just so much out there people changing everything on the Cobra's. And alot of people are parting them out. I do like the videos brother.
I love the Termi Cobras, I don’t think is obsolete, I think is a classic like any other Cobra before it; I have actually have one, I’m Building it now for twins!!
As far as RU-vid goes, I think the terminator is obsolete. Since it's so old now there's only gonna be a very small niche of people who are searching for them on RU-vid. Now for real life, I think the terminator is an absolute legend, they look and sound amazing and are definitely more raw than a newer coyote. Ask yourself if you care more about what you like or what the internet likes. A coyote would most likely be better for the channel though
The newer cars might get up and out fast but when behind the wheel of the 2003 feels complete raw and end up being more fun (my opinion) if I had to pick I’d get the cobra over a C8.. and I agree, you should enjoy your vehicle no matter what it has a special meaning to owner even if it’s not the fastest out there. The algorithm nowadays makes it hard to get good car content out there like this especially being a legit RU-vidr no clickbait, I wish I had some ideas but blank mind right now :// also gotta love the random Supra that always passes and poofs 😂 But stay on the grind as long as you can I hope and pray this channel pops off and you get some loyal subscribers, I myself have been subbed since 2019 I think, and you work hard making vids and RU-vid should see that I feel like 💪🏻 but making videos constantly can be rough and always know if you need a break your subscribers should understand that for sure. i had an 03 cobra back in 2010-2015. it was a very fun, fast car. those cars are still insanely fast. the thing that makes them seem antiquated in how good auto transmissions are today. i have an 2016 m4 with a dual clutch transmission, and no way even on my best day could i ever dream of shifting the cobra as fast as that. another thing that always let the 03-04 down was the antiquated platform that was already ancient when the car was new. terrible high seating position, and horrible cheap plastics.

I would like to be frank. I am not Frank, but I want to be honest. I have owned an S550 Mustang GT 6 MT. I enjoyed the car; however, I got rid of it to buy a ATS-V. The car was also amazing and fast for what it was. I traded it in for a MK 7 Stock GTI and modified it to reach 400 WHP/WTQ. I traded that in and bought a 2022 Ford Mustang Ecoboost 10 AT. I have modified my daily driver to reach 400 WHP/WTQ. The car is capable of doing low 4s 0-60. I recently had the opportunity to buy my dream car. I bought a 2003 Vert Cobra 10th ann package. The car is my absolute favorite, most fun and entertaining, and best driver I have ever owned. I LOVE MY COBRA and I love being the only one in my area with one. I think the Cobra is still sought after and highly regarded.
A car isn't just about speed. If that was the case then EVs take it hands down. But it's the soul the car has that makes it just so fuckin fun to drive. I have an 04 Terminator and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Every time I get behind the wheel of that beast it just brings me this huge smile. Also the rawness and absolute terror these cars provide is only matched by a few cars out there. So in short....no they are not obsolete. They will live on forever. And fuck EVs 😂
I don’t think Terminators will ever be obsolete as there will always be people who hold them dear to their hearts as it’s what they grew up with. Almost like asking whether Fox Bodies are obsolete or 1st Gen Mustangs are. They are technologically obsolete, all products become that after a while, but emotionally/socially, they never will. For me, Terminators will always be so fucking cool no matter how many more faster, more advanced Mustangs come along. Across the pond in the UK they are ultra rare and not many people know what they are, they’re essentially sleepers.

Plenty of content to be had with this platform. I don't see many people doing actual builds with them. Just channels that have bought one for the bandwagon content and them sells/raffles them. For me, I would like to see some builds happening. Discuss companies that are still supporting these cars. Everything from power, suspension, and brake components.

Obsolete? No. However... it's not the same powerhouse it once was in the 00's decade. It began losing some traction in 2011 when 5.0 launched because Ford fans could buy a well built 400HP GT with 6spd and engine able to handle 650HP safely.
They are Def relevant they can do 800+ wheel with a blower on stock driveline to me that makes them just as relevant as anything newer. As far as that girl saying her dad's c8 felt quicker I'm not sure why that is a pullied terminator should feel quicker than a stock c8 imo because it's is older and more raw and primitive. Far as what their actual performance is I would say their 60-130 times aren't that far apart one way or the other. The terminator is way cooler that c8 has a locked down ecu meanwhile you can swap the blower and fuel system on the terminator and make 700-1000 rwhp without even batting an eye. Never EVER feel like your terminator is not as cool as newer cars just because it's older and morprimitive. 60s cars are cool and they're way slower than modern cars stock for stock. This is similar except terminators can make power many modern cars can with minor mods. They are beastly. End of story. This coming from an 07 gt500 owner (gen3r 740/733 rwhp at 19 psi on 93/boostane) which are also badass and under appreciated for many of the same reasons. They're seen as the "old heavy slow ones" but they can be nasty with the right tweaks and they look/sound amazing.

I’ve driven a c8 corvette for a full week and I owned a 2015 z06. They are different experiences. The vettes are good but the cobra makes me laugh and gives me way more joy than the z06 did. It was soooo good that it was boring almost. The Cobra is drama and fun at all speeds

The Terminator is very much to the early 2000's what the Trans Am's were in the late 70's...the standard for badass cars. They may be both dated in terms of power and finesse but make up for it in attitude and I'll be damned if they still don't get thumbs up and turned heads from everyone 8 to 80 and that's what makes a classic.

I don’t think any muscle car is obsolete, the cobra’s were great in they’re day but when people started figuring out the ls cars they were out gunned for sure.
I didn’t buy mine to compete with newer technology man.. I could care less what other people think. I bought the car cause I always wanted one. It’s one of the last of the raw muscle car experience and it takes talent to drive one of these unlike newer easier cars. Plus it’s a nostalgia overload for guys like me who grew up. Idolizing Supras then the Terminator 🔥🔥
Need to first state this opinion will be slightly bias being a terminator cobra but it's not old to me at all. I still look up videos of them and I still every couple of months watch TDIB's review of yours and still love seeing how happy driving it makes him. They are dated but I don't think it's like coming to an end per say. And content as a whole I think there's just so much of ALL of it out there rather it be Shelby's coyotes cobras it's all just been done I don't think it's specific to the cobra.

You can get them hook, put a drag radial and bushings. My 04, on a 17 inch drag radial cuts 1.6s. The car can still hold its own, 03/04 cobra is a niche, special car. People that don’t know these cars, or grew up around them when they came out, will never understand.
I just gave a like for fat beaver boy. There is nothing obsolete about how that thing sounds. If you want it to be relevant double the power it came stock and it will out compete whatever you want.
It’s difficult to say that it is obsolete. Is a 69 Z28 obsolete how about a 1965 Shelby cobra 427? It’s like it’s all in the eye of the beholder certainly the cobra does not represent the most up-to-date technology however bang for your buck it’s hard to not like a cobra aluminum heads double overhead cam four valves per cylinder forced induction fuel injected forged internals six speed and IRS. The car has a lot to offer the sports car enthusiast!
I have this conversation all the time I like the newer cars are great super fast and nice but the whole point of cars like these were to be affordable power and fun for the enthusiast that's why I bought my 3v over a 5.0 sure the 5.0 is better performance wise but it feels soulless the 4.6 making less power was still a motor that would kill you and 5.0s you don't have to do a lot to make the really fast and that's just not really fun or what makes a car special I love the 4.6l because it's got just enough tech to be relevant but still old school enough to be built from the ground up the whole car from wheels and tires all the way to the motor
Considering the frame of a Terminator has lineage to the 1978 Ford Fairmont, it was outdated when new in 2003. Does that matter? Heck no!! They’re a blast to drive. It wasn’t meant to be refined or some kind of Euro-beater. That said, I can’t wait for Fabulous Fords Forever ’23; 20-year anniversary of the Terminator! Still have my ’03 since new and it has been ~15 years since I was there last.

Yeah it might be an older car and might not be able to keep up with newer cars, but the amount of looks/thumbs ups/waves I get make it worth it for me. She takes me back to my younger days. No new car can do that for me.
Doing some different content would be cool like say bring one on a road course then do something like the stifflers subframes, different springs etc maybe some brake upgrades with test/measurements ? A sequential gearbox video would amazing but uber expensive
I’d love to do all that stuff, unfortunately I can’t afford any of it for a while. Buying a house whipped out my savings. If I made money from these videos I’d just put it back into the car! It actually does have some pretty nice springs though.
My 03 makes 623 at the wheels and I have zero problems with traction. Some shocks some bushings some tires. I'll never trade it for anything else. I've driven vetts and coyotes and stuff. Just not the same
@@Jordancraigmiller I have sprical knuckle bushings and i forget the name of the control arm bushings. But the are not rubber or polyurethane. Viking adjustable shocks diff brace solid tie rods. Once the tires are warm they don't spin at all in first. Running proxes r888r. Best 0 to 60 I've got is 3.85 but I can consistently do. 4.1 on the street with draggy. Never been on a track
There is never enough modding you can do to a cobra I would like to put a griggs g40 sla front suspension and totally fortify the chassis and IRS a turbo voodoo swap is in the future and a front and rear Wildwood big brake kit
I don’t even think it’s about the performance. It’s just a cool car. Looks amazing. Sounds amazing. Factory supercharger. I mean come on. Way more goes into it than performance. I remember riding in one of these as a kid. It was brand new. Hearing that supercharger whine. Man was I amazed. It might as well have been a rocket ship. This car will forever have a place in my heart.
The Hell Stallion is never outdated Terminators must follow the rule like any killing machine. Kill, test, upgrade, and kill again. Nothing today can match the dollar to performance ratio a Terminator can offer.
I wanted one so bad in high school. I've bought many mustangs but I'm done with my 2004. My insurance is 39 bucks a month, they are easier to work on then any new one, and it has 500 rwhp which I can romp on and not break. I'm happy.

I love mine, but it is a lot harder to handle than a modern car. With that said, there are suspension upgrades that can get it close. Gotta break out the big bucks
