Today's video is short and sweet. I rank 4 of the most common things when deciding on buying a daily driving car; especially for those DIY'ing their maintenance. I think if a truck fits your lifestyle the Toyota Tacoma is a great daily driver regardless of the MPG ;)

Jack up your tire pressure for long highway drives for better gas milage

Owned mine since Nov 2005, 230k miles. Recently started upgrading/replacing for a 2nd life. I am retired and only put about 500 miles/mo now. I expect it to outlive me. Runs and rides great. Just repainted the bed and am looking to buy new floor mats.

Mine's been a daily driver for almost 19 years when I bought it brand new. Not great on gas, but has never broken down. I only recently did a major overhaul last year, but incredibly reliable. I only have a 25 mile daily commute.

I have a stock 2010 double cap 6ft bed and the best I’m ever got going 65 on highway was right under 20mpg which got me 394 rolling into the gas station on fumes. The other thing I’d say is I’d recommend look at an after marked head unit specifically an alpine unit. Very good price and easy to install. Makes the truck feel brand new on the inside.

I use to daily drive to work and getting the boys from school. Hated in traffics. Seems slow and rough. Now, with a commuter 4 banger; life is good. My taco is strictly for hunting now lol.

Nice! Thats awesome, I agree in traffic it’s a little rough, but in the mountains I have an absolute blast hunting, scouting, fishing, etc.

Tacomas are probably one of the least comfortable mid size trucks. I’d say the frontier was probably the most comfortable

Love my 2015 taco. TRD SPORT. Mileage should be better at 18 city but hey where do i have to go. I am the original owner, retired and it just turned 40,000 miles. Maintenance is so easy on the 4.0. Just like my 4th gen 4runner. I love the bare bones equipment on the Taco. Someone offered me 30k for it the other day. No sale. Look how they have ruined the Tundras and now the tacos with those sh*t 4 cylinder turbo junk. And now the 4runner has met the same fate for 2025.

Beware of the engine knock at third gear. Can’t remember but i think 2012-15 models are on the tsb by all dealer

Engine knock owners manual says it’s normal, but if it’s knocking a lot you may need to take it to the dealer, may knock heavy in high temp areas.

Amigo! Great video. I just wanted to ask what size engine your Tacoma is. I wanted to know if the size of the engine mattered on the MPG. The size of the engine was not mentioned that’s why I wanted to ask if that mattered. Awesome video bro👌🏼

I have the 4.0L V6, recently I’ve upped my tire PSI when going on long trips and I’ve changed my spark plugs. Just those two things alone have bumped me up to average 20-22 MPG now. Thank you for commenting!

Oh man I feel you! A bunch of things have an affect on MPG, I tend to have a lead foot and that brings mine down from time to time😂 be sure to check your tire pressure and maybe dive into some research online maybe there’s something that’s not obvious that needs a check up.

Ive been driving Taco's since before they were Taco's. Got my first in 1992. Extra cab with that crappy 3.0 liter motor. It was my daily driver until I sold it 15 years later. Got a 93 at that point, lifted, KO2's...still my daily driver for the next 8 years. Was truckless for a small bit till I got my 2013 crew cab 4x4 a few years ago. It has a nice Icon 3" lift, KO2's hybrid front bumper...lots of interior mods...NOT a daily driver at 14 mpg. Would if I could, but my commute is 200 miles a day.

Very nice! Thank you for sharing! I think if I were a little lighter on the gas pedal, pump up my psi, and change my spark plugs (they’ve never been changed to my knowledge lol) my mpg would be a little better for those long trips but we’ll see!

I think the Tacoma is one hell of a 🛻💨 I want to get it tuned, performance will obviously be nice but I'm looking for a little bit better ⛽ mileage out of my tune lol a couple more MPGs would really help I put the Carhartt 💺 💺 covers on mine the center console cover in the interior+ tonneau cover mine is the manual transmission my 🛻💨 says 272 Miles when I fill it all the way up I live in Phoenix & I've been using the AC it's funny how people are looking forward to this new Tacoma I think it's going to be a pretty decent truck but a lot of us Fanboys are going to miss the old skool feeling of the 3rd gen. Damn this truck is easy to work on from what I've done, I just changed the front diff, rear diff, transfer case & transmission fluid all relatively easy just drain & fill using amsoil it really helped the rear differential. Imo Toyota fluids suck
