I began in Uber rental program November 2016 Las Vegas.. it immediately became apparent that the job offered the ability to earn what you work for. More hours=More cash. And today, after 3 privately owned cars and 15,600 rides, I know it is a smart option to rent. There is no maintenance or major insurance and the risk is low.. passengers can slam Hertz's doors and you don't need to care. Keep in mind the Uber driver is exposed all day over many miles to many depreciating issues. And when you sell your car you will lose your ass. Good video..

Ok Nick Here is the deal my friend I have been renting with Uber for last 7 months I drive a comfort car (Chevy Malibu) I have additional insurance and my weekly cost 352/week. Not bad for unlimited miles and Zero deductible incase of an accident. But in order for me to make money I must drive at least 8 hours a day five days a week Currently I am making $1600/ 1800 a week In this business and any other business if u want to make you MUST put in your time I am a hustler and I make my money all the time, so at the end rental is the best way to go Zero maintenance Tax deduction Unlimited miles Uber weekly promotions pretty much take care of my rental and gas anyway So if anyone wants to rent GO FOR IT But you must hustle to make money

I’ve done Uber for a year up and down California. I was sad I wasn’t able to get the goals for each week in SoCal but I live in NorCal and I was hitting my goals all the time. I think this might be a cool thing for people who don’t want to put miles on their car

Here in the Phoenix area the weekday quest pays well over the rental and gas for four days and leaves you with a couple hundred dollars for yourself.

Hertz announce they are going to use 50 thousand tesla cars for uber rental. I have investment in TSLA but have no clue what Hertz Uber rental was. Done lots of research and looks like you explain it as, it's a rental program where people can rent Hertz car to use as a Uber car to make money. Sound good, as my TSLA investment is on the up side. I’m about to start my day 1 in ride share & I’ve been researching everything. After reviewing the Uber rental program it’s an hr away and a $40 trip. I've put money down twice to rent the Uber cars when they had first started the rental program but I would always chicken out because I was so worried about being a newer driver and driving people around. However now there's food deliveries so I'm planning on renting again but actually driving. I also live in Boston and again I plan on doing food deliveries until I get comfortable driving people around. Thanks for the advice about the insurance.

I do uber very limited. like around 250 to 300 per week worth. which is very little. you can make that easy in 2 days of driving. but i sprad it out and will do a few trips a day. I have been thinking of trying the rental thing for at least one week just to see what i can do. But i know I will have to get my mind made up to commit to literally driving every waking minute for that week and just maximizing my revenue so that i clear a nice amount of cash after Gas, insurance and rental cost. So ya this video helps alot to basically give me a rough idea of what to expect.

I’ve done it before/ a few times and it’s not worth it, $1200 for a car even though it’s unlimited miles but it’s $1200 every month. I would suggest doing your own car!!

That's actually pickup time so you must double your time to be safe on the road, (this example is thus 10hrs of work) and you realistically consider total time on the job.

I use to make at $25 an hour with Uber Eats but I quit not long after the pandemic because the pay was horrible, might as well work a 9 to 5

When you go to pick up the rental, do you have to pay that $250 for the week upfront before you get the car? Or do they take it out your earnings with Uber ? I wanna start this week but have no money lol.

I rented a car through Uber hertz and it was EXPENSIVE. I am not sure how it is now since I ended up buying a car in March 2021. So.. My very first day that I started Uber (May 1, 2020) and the app says that you can get a car for $214/week but really it came out to $244. I asked Uber Hertz if this was the cheapest deal and if there were any discounts like AAA membership discount or if I could use my own insurance. Both answers were NO. So insurance was +$27 extra which is how the price went from $214 to $244 with taxes. The first 2 months it cost me about $2,000 and then add gas to that and I was barely making enough to cover the car. So basically in my eyes.. I was working hard doing deliveries trying to make that extra money only to be paying off their car for them with those prices. So.. I am not saying to do what I did but I ended up going to an actual Hertz location that was NOT an Uber rental location and their prices were waaaaaaaaaay cheaper for the same exact cars, allowed you to use your own insurance, accepted AAA discounts and took waaaaaay less time getting you in and getting you out once you were done than the Uber Hertz people! BUT don’t tell them that you are going to be doing any delivery driving. Going through regular hertz you can also rent the car monthly and that was for $599. Like I said I don’t know the offers now but I rented all kinds of cars and from May 1, 2020 up until March 20, 2021… I spent almost $10,000. Yes. I know. I should’ve bought a car but I never had enough for the down payment or anything like that. I was a new credit card owner so my limit was low which was hard at times when there was a $200 deposit each time you rented the car but would get refunded once you returned the car in the condition you received it in. I still do Ubereats and DoorDash in a car that I bought with just 18 miles on it. ANOTHER big mistake I made because now I am stuck paying a huge car payment every month (still cheaper than renting) and putting miles on my car. I am impatient and I know that’s bad.. and I should’ve, would’ve, could’ve just bought a used car but I didn’t… I am learning from my mistakes which always costs me something major but things always have a way for working out for me in the end. And one important rule out of many other rules… if you are doing deliveries or rides… DO NOT tell your insurance company because some insurance companies will not cover you or will drop you the second they find out that you are. Oh and my favorite rental car ever was a 2021 Chevy Malibu. Good on gas, smooth rides and takes off suuuuuuuuuper quick. I’m sure there is more I should’ve said but I can’t think of anything but if you have a question.. ask. Good luck guys. Oh ya! And always do your research. Search online cheapest hertz rental car discount codes. AND… if you want to give Uber rides you can only rent from the companies they offer otherwise they won’t accept the car information they ask you to add to your driver profile.

Check your cars, mine had roaches, missing a tag light (incl the outlet), a trunk that got filled with rain water, a broken backup camera, and stains I had to clean myself. I contacted Hertz with an email and photos regarding a replacement over a week ago but still haven't heard back.

If you rent EV, you better... 1) be "driving" 40+ hours which means 50+ hours online a week. 2) allow additional 6+ hours at Superchargers. Enjoy counting these hours as a cost against your "gross" revenue. 3) realize you WILL have to pass on some long trips because you dont have enough charge to make the trip. Therefore missing out on higher revenue. That's 56 hours per week to make decent "gross" revenue.

i never honestly thought of renting a car through Uber and did a crazy thing and drove my diesel 2500 ram not a good idea that was a about 14 months ago but on a plus note down here in Texas we got a really bad ice and snow storm hit and for 2 days i was officially the only driver in the entire city my app would not stop going off day and night made a great amount of money have had a 5 star rating since but its time to get a different car now.

I'm not sure what kind of UE is going on in Washington...but Uber eats are usually already done. I get like 4 or something deliveries in one hour. Now they added the postmates stuff..so they sent a $30 order for picking up from Apple store.

But in New York City you can’t drive Uber unless you have a TLC plate, 🤦🏽‍♂️now am mad at myself for buying the car. I’ve got the TLC license but not the plate number, That’s how I stumble on rental options on RU-vid, still don’t know if it’s worth it in terms of earnings and rental weekly payment🥺

The rental program is oddly expensive, you could just buy a used car for the cost of a month to rent a car.

Thank you again! I have another question. I’m almost done and approved to start renting. It shows after base tax and other fees, total of $314.62. Then under this, it elaborates other cost information, saying refundable deposit of $200. It says this may be due at vehicle pickup. Am I paying the full total of these at the time of pickup?! Or just the $200? It isn’t clear in the app, and I’m not sure by watching the video either. Edit - called Uber support to verify, and yes. It will cost me $514.62 to get started working for Uber for one week. Yikes.

It's worth it... IF... and only IF you're willing to put in the hours. I used to drive a gas car, worked 4 days a week... and averaged about $1k per week. I'm picking up my TESLA next week from Hertz.

Those miles add up for personal vehicle. I would like to have a car just for uber. Seems pricey to rent based on the numbers.

I'm in a social media Uber group for my state, and there are multiple reports of putting the entire amount down, not just a deposit, the insurance at the rental being high, and also cars unavailable even after reserving. do you have a more recent rental experience video I should look at? or do you think this is different based on location, it shouldn't be! All Uber affiliated Hertz locations should follow same policies, in my opinion

So I did do the Uber rental program and had to put down 500 to begin. I did it for a month because I pay one payment of 1200. To renew its $1,189 plus 497 to continue the program. I stopped after a month because I can get a car and pay each month. In my opinion I don’t think it’s worth it at all.

⁠if you buy a car, and drive it 1,000 miles a week You are going to depreciate your car much faster, and pay way more, than renting in the long run Hear me out as a driver with 2.5+ years of experience in SD, one of the busiest markets to be a driver, and one of the best paid markets You need to pay your loan off in 36 months, rather than 72, meaning you are going to be paying this much in cash, or in depreciation no matter what So if you don’t pay the additional principal payments, you’ll be left with a car that’s worth nothing, and still owe money on your loan, within 4 years of full time driving It is the cost of doing business as a driver Your car can only drive so many miles before it is worth nothing A smart strategy would be to buy a car, pay it off quick with uber and then decommission it as a personal car and then rent with uber You’ll actually pay less to rent in the long run I’m going to transition to doing this soon, as someone who needs to continue ubering for a few more years and doesn’t want to have to buy another car to do it

I have a few weeks off from work and I was thinking about driving but is there a way to determine the difference between the two rental options? One shows uberx and Uber eats, the other shows Uber x and comfort. Is there a better choice between Uber eats or Uber comfort?

Unless your personal insurance has a endorsement for ride sharing, your personal insurance will not cover you for damages and Uber/Lyfts coverage is only for when you are signed in

I used this program when my car was in the body shop for 1 month. It was the worst experience of my life. It was the San Diego AP location. Hertz should be ashamed. The agent ( Michael) was nice, but his hands were tied. It took 2 months of complaining to get a partial refund. I made a reservation for 1pm to pick up a mid size (gas car). they did not even have hybrids. I showed up and there was a wait of 4 hours and we were in the heat wave (90 deg plus humidity, crazy for SD) and had to wait outside. the car I got was a chevy mid size piece of shit. the engine constantly hesitated and it only got 18 mpg. (so no UBER profit here , gas at $6.50). It took 10 days for them to give me another car. the next was a Kia. my first AP p/u the car over heated with my passengers aboard! finally the gave me this piece of shit 2019 toyota, maybe 25 mpg. what a shit show. I probably lost 2K between waiting and switching cars, bad mpg, and just lost work time. Hertz gave me about $300 refund.

I did this. Hertz subtracted the rental fees and the security deposit. This is too much money. Just buy your own car and used that as an Uber.

Literally just need the car rental for 2 days (Friday and Saturday.). Driving from Kentucky to Florida then back.

Do we have to take care of maintenance and stuff like tires, breaks or lights like we would if we used our personal car? What does their basic maintenance mean do you know?

Tehnically, Hertz doesnt give you insurance but a Loss Waive Damage or LWD You are not liable for anything that happens to car. I know this video is old but Uber says the LWD is now included in rent, yet I still get charged on a daily basis for it. I brought it up to corporate at Hertz and they refunded me the fees. Local branches didnt get the memo?

Question: did Uber automatically add the vehicle into the app ? Or do you have to call and add all the registration/insurance etc into the app? That’s what I’m confused about.

Quick question: If someone doesn't have their own personal auto insurance, does taking both the Uber Rideshare Insurance + the $5 rental insurance (your example cost) cover any potential accidents costs (ie the 1K deductible, etc)? a local gal told me that when she arrived at Hertz #1 they made her wait until all the other non-uber customers got taken care of (but the app gives you a time slot) and #2 she said they did not have the vehicle she reserved (that does not sound right either)

There's a significant different mindset between one being an hourly employee and some one who by the rule's, regualation's and laws envoving the IRS, is considered self employed. The vast and over whelming majority of UBER driver's and other's availbale. Come from and haven't adapted to the difference's. And most will never accomplish it. If and when one who is self employed still uses the word profit in regards to their earnings, they prove they continue to have the houly mind set. Profit marigin's which the self employed mind set entail's include the earning's one must pay themselves based on an wanted or needed on a net bases that can and could entail being referred to as an hourly wage. Any and all total earning after any and all expenses, which would include how much the driver's pay them selves. Is the Profit one make from their endevor with UBER. No self employed person, would ever include possible incentives in their prospected earnings. Incentive's aka bonus's can and should be equited with the fact that though one NEED'S to eat Cake for instance to stay alive. One WANT'S icin. In addition. If and when an UBER driver's can not show a positive PROFIT in three year's of having to report and file their taxes. Which is by law, though not always enfored, supposed to be quarterly, not annually. They profession as someone who is considered to be self employed is ruled to be simply a hobbist. And thus, none of their expenses are deductable any longer. Profit is the net earning after any and all expenses, which includes paying one self. Thus if the minimum wage is offically say ten dollar's an hour. And you are not paying your self such. You don't have a PROFIT. And after three year's the IRS will rule you to be a hobbist, not self employed. That's something having a self employed mindset is aware of but, hourly mindset, can't fathom.

Last time I made a reservation at Hertz back last year Now I take a Uber to Hertz to go get my car A little while after I get to Hertz The rental agent come out and says out loud that they had no gas cars it would of been nice if they called us customers telling us that but when she said they had no gas cars it sounded like she was saying that they had no gas cards I wasn't sure if she was talking about gas cars or not so I asked her and she said didn't you hear me I said we don't have any gas cars plus her English wasn't that good that's why I thought she said gas cards so know I took a Uber to Hertz from home and then I had to a Uber back home from Hertz all for nothing so I thought I was going to loose my money that I paid to take 2 Uber rides I wasn't going to call Uber but I said it's not my fault they didn't have the cars so I called Uber and complained about me paying 2 Uber rides and not getting a car out of it So I got rebusted for both rides I took that day But I been thinking of trying again but I don't know when tho wish me luck when I decide to try it again And thats my experience with trying to rent a car from Hertz for doing Uber

In 2022 it is not worth it. They need to include all agencies to get best options. The company called Drive Time takes 95% of drivers income. UNER needs to update the rental option for drivers to get most return.
