Hey peeps! Comments for this video: -Captions are up! -The Theo footage really is super old, it’s from this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DLz5eXcUQMk.html -If you’d like more recommendations, ask away! -I know Spinnaker is getting a lot of praise right now, but they are super overdue for a retest and I’m not going to recommend a brand I haven’t tried in the last year. I’ve added them to the ‘to test’ pile and will get to them when I can, but I don’t want to order chocolate in this heat wave.
Yay! And thanks for the idea! I really was on the fence on covering this since this isn't generally my type of content, but then I found out that info and yeah, it needed to happen somehow.
I am so with you, everyone should make more buckeyes! And yeah, I also hadn't had Theo much recently, there are just so many brands to keep up with now.
Thank you for the very informative video. I typically buy 1-2 bars of Theo per week from Fred Meyers (Kroger). Depending on the recipe change or quality slip, I will be interested to see what my next best option is at an affordable price point, from a grocery store (if a decent option exists)... Do you have any recommendations? Thanks again.
I’m glad it was helpful! And I have some questions first: do you buy the Theo bars mainly to eat or bake with? And what bars do you like, like what percentages or mix ins do you go for? I’ll have slightly different answers depending on what you say. (I will say sadly in general there are very few grocery brands I recommend, just because most aren't using the highest quality cacao.)
@@beaufig Cool! Glad I checked! So I don’t know much about Kroger grocery options to be honest, but the most affordable and ethical brand that I know is in some grocery stores would be Marou, which has smaller bars starting at $3-$4 and full bars around $7. The alternatives would be TCHO and Beyond Good, but I haven’t had their bars recently so I can’t comment on their quality fairly. (I mainly buy chocolate direct from makers or through shops like Bar & Cocoa, so I’m waiting for the fall sales myself.)
