The Saxon charter of Enford, Wiltshire has some interesting insights into Roman Wiltshire. It can be read (warning: Latin and Old English) here-
esawyer.lib.ca...
(Replace all hat characters with ‘th’ and have a go understanding the Old English.)
There are potentially two Roman roads described in this charter. I discuss this idea and photograph wildlife at the same time.
These history walk videos are about the English landscape in and around the south west of England (though I make the odd foray into Wales). I often use ancient charters (such as Saxon charters) to give me insight into the way the landscape was viewed in the past.
But it is not the Saxons that interest me the most (though they do) but the prehistoric world and its ancient monuments, trackways and ditches.

That's an antiquities packed charter! Virtually every reference point is something ancient. Good luck with your further investigations - hope you crack it.

I still haven’t cracked it and I don’t think I can. I am suspicious of what Grundy said and I might have an alternative

This is VERY tantalising indeed. I've been puzzled by this route for years, even did a walk with the RRRA to try and make the alignment clearer. The two pieces of evidence I found for its existence are 1. The is a clear, long piece of agger in Savernake (Even marked on most OS maps) at the northern part of the route. 2. At the Salisbury end, prior to houses being built by the park and ride, there was a clear trace in a field. I think some old google images may show it, but no excavation to show of. I guess RR don't hold claim to much. Anyway. This is so very close to fitting a small bit of the puzzle... whats next!? :-)

I was hoping you’d take a walk there with me as this is very much in both our wheelhouses. Or bailiwicks. A bit more citizen science, see if we can find an agger. There is also an alternative potential branch line coming off it near where I was, see if we can find an agger, do some measurements. I want to do two more walks as there are a few things that are quite intriguing in the area.

Great antic rambling. Would it be off topic to ask the name of tthe guitar music?

The Mini Vandals, there had to be a migration period name didn’t there? The track is ‘To Loom is to Love’. It should’ve put a statement of who it was in the about section but didn’t for some reason.

Is Lidbury definitely confirmed as being Roman? ... in which case it might be related to the Brythonic God-King-Hero Lludd. Best guess with the birdie is a young buzzard, a harrier is rather more elegant and less chubby.

It was dug. Romano-British and Iron Age finds which could mean Cunobellinos in a kilt sacrificing to Cunomaglos or young Marcus in a toga sacrificing to Apollo Cunomaglos. Judging by its location it is the same old British shivering on a hilltop. His underbelly was very white. The buzzard not Marcus. Talking of Llud, have you visited the temple of Nodens? Which is Nudd, which is Llud.

@@AllotmentFox Llud, Nudd, Nuada, Nodens ... maybe his toga fell off and he was just Nude or Nuddy ... we're back to the Cerne Giant 🤷‍♂ No, I haven't been to the Temple of Nodens, although I keep getting asked if I'm a Mason ... sorry, that's the Lodge. The answer is still NO! Always seems a bit Mithraic to me 😊😆🤣

Couldn’t see the bird you described at the end but buzzards can be very pale. We had an almost white one, a pale morph, living in Shrewton for a long time last year. Otherwise could it have been an osprey. They are sighted not so far away at Langford Lakes from time to time.
