Almost EVERYONE I have talked to at eBay including the supervisors or managers not only don't know what they are doing but don't care - PERIOD. CALLING EBAY IS USELESS!!

With the revisions thing - I am honestly so lazy with mine. I end and sell similar 20 items every single day - on items that are ending that day - or 20 soonest listings. I do absolutely nothing to the listing generally except reducing by at least 1p - or if I think it may be over priced I may knock a £ or 2 off. But generally don't change titles or photos or anything. Clothing is mostly slow - but my sales are pretty good, and growing - I never miss a day of doing this ever.
Very interesting info. Having knowledge of large scale multi-site data centers I always had a hard time believing the bad server theory. Your first (primo) theory is what has always made sense to me. (I’m only half way through video so far)
If Summer Slowdown is true, that would mean that Page Views would be down in the summer. HOWEVER, my Page Views are virtually the same every day of the year. So that seems to be proof that eBay is more interested in controlling your sales traffic than your sales totals. FALSE. Ebay still has mechanisms in place to make sure that you make about the same amount each day. Even if you have a banger day of $1700.00 in sales, -don't worry, eBay will throttle you back down to your average 'within' a couple weeks. I've been stuck at 20% year-over-year growth for 2 months now. Ebay has made it difficult to search 90% of my store. Don't get too excited about cross-listing to the other big Sites, because they will all follow eBay's strategy soon enough.
Great video, where do you get that google advertising on ebay. Im In the United States and we have a daily dollar limit you have to set. I dont think we get 1 cent a click.
I dont go.via ebay. That's pointless. I've made a video.about it. No controll whatsoever. Only daily limit. I do via Google directly. I can choose target audience, ad message, click cost, keywords and more.
Hey Polish Pete: It's true. Sell similar isn't good anymore. You have to go into the description and change something. Changing item specifics, photos, price, shipping, etc won't work. There needs to be something changed within the description itself. I confirmed it by selecting 10 items, ending all ten items. Then did a bulk 'sell similar'. There is a column all the way to the right which shows "Last Modified". This column only updates when you change something in the description. This column used to update if you changed the item price, or title, etc. It no longer does. Algorithm has been changed!!
@@polish_pete_uk It looks like this new algorithm, is still in rollout. I have another store/account, and this account still updates the bulk / sell similar 'last modified' field when ANY field is updated. I re-confirmed on my other account that this is not the case. HMM.....

Personally, I have always subscribed the server migration and having to be re-indexed which causes serious and obvious issues. I believe I went through that in May... combined with the fact I was having issues with inventory caused may to be a huge disaster. There very well could be an algorithmic issue or a manual button by techs that can be engaged by upper management decisions based on performance. Until Ebay becomes more clear with how they operate, everything is speculation.
Aren’t we pretty sure that if you get an account defect, eBay puts you on timeout for a while? If you stop listing, don’t you get put on timeout for a while? If you have a great sales day, don’t you often get put on timeout the next day? I have 39K items. Whatever is there to keep me from selling 3,000 listings in one day is related to the same idea. The algorithm certainly has ways to regulate an account.
My Service/Account Metrics are the best they've been in over 20 years and my items are mostly invisible lately. However, my year-over-year growth has been stuck at 20% for the last 2 months(Galt had same problem last year), so eBay seems to be throttling me insanely high right now to keep me near 20%. So, there isn't "one' magic reason why sales get slow,...I could list about 50 correct reasons why eBay slows your sales.
eBay may not even know what they’re doing. They may be trying for one thing and getting something unplanned. We know they need to throttle to some degree. I have 39K and if I even sold 200 in a day, I’d be in trouble. Maybe the algorithm is poorly coded and over-throttling. My metrics cannot be any better. I’m all 100s and zeroes. Two days ago I had a day so bad that I didn’t think it was even possible. In fact, it wouldn’t be possible without a glitch or manipulation. Yesterday bounced back. It’s pointless to try to draw any logical conclusions.
@@reversiontothemean6129 I convert at about 5.3-5.5%, which is top 10 in my category. My click through is also top 10, and my GMV is top 25. I still have days that are a disaster (I average 40 sales per day and can still have a 6). I also have 4-5 day streaks where sales decrease in perfect descending steps. By the fifth day, I know what is happening so I just accept it because I have seen it so many times.
Also, that complaint phrase is in their new script. I had that same line but about the fact they hadn't sent me my packaging voucher. it was right at the end of a conversation when I thought it was finished also.
I believe it is as simple as earning a ranking by your conversion rate in your category. The better you convert in your category, the better placement you will achieve. The LQR tells you your ranking. I don’t see how anything could be more important than conversion rate, other than GMV itself. I don’t believe in the “bad” server theory. I do believe you can be in a bad A/B group for a while, or that you could suffer from re-indexing from time to time.
If anything, my conversion was going only up for last 6 months, and yet sudden crash happened. Even if it was going down, there shouldn't be sudden crash, unless there was sudden drop in conbversion.
@@polish_pete_uk Mine also went up and other people have said the same. I think eBay had something going right, but of course they can never leave things alone. I cannot trust them week to week.
I do not subscribe to this theory because of my own recency biases. I am personally familiar with a store that does specifically postcards, which is not the quickest sales category. The conversion rate was consistently at 5%, which maybe I am incorrect but seems pretty good for postcards. The store gets throttled once or twice a month. 60-100 dollar days for a week or two straight, then bam, zero sales for a day or two. Then it climbs back up until the next drop off. This has gone on for a long long time. This isn't a coincidence or economy driven. All we can do is theorize. As I mentioned earlier it has been like this for the past 2-3 years and I still have a conspiracy theory that it is something in the AI and eBay can't do much about it. Once they turned to the AI there is no turning back.
