The worst thing I did when I entered menopause was to listen to RU-vidrs telling me I couldn’t workout the same as I always have. I run at least 3 miles 6 days a week and lift weights. I scaled back with this, because I was told by RU-vid I had to. Big mistake! I resumed my regular workouts and now I feel great again. Listen to your body not a RU-vid influencer

@@laurahunter1690 I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm 11 years older than you, and much like you I went at fitness training as hard as I'd always done at your age and at least up to 60. I share this in love, with the realization that we are all made up somewhat different. I came to realize that through the before, during, and after menopause stages I was not doing my body any favors by the way I was daily working out. The hormones will continue to decline and that's a fact for all of us women. You will start seeing changes in many areas of your body that you are sure at this point you never will. Trust me, it surprises us all. We all make our own paths. I'm not sure anyone could have convinced me to do differently, but I also know there was no one even trying to share these facts with me. Plus I've come to realize it was all a Strong part of my identity. I wasn't willing to change for something that would have definitely been better for my aging body. Aging is something none of us escapes, but there's only 2 choices. We either age or we are no longer on this earth to age. Doesn't mean we can't make good choices that make a big difference in how we age though. I've learned the past couple of years, from my naturopathic Dr, that was a marathon runner and in her mid 40s, and from others like Debra who's trying to help us women. Do with this what you want and I wish you well. 💝

No reason to change other than to monitor your muscle mass and signs and symptoms. Many women don't experience a need to change... until they do. BUt if you're way ahead and monitoring muscle mass.. it will never be temporarily fooling you in a way that comes back to bite you!

I totally agree that anyone willing to talk about menopause is at least raising awareness. This is such a neglected area of medicine and fitness! I’m grateful the conversation and research are finally happening.

Such great advice! Restore before adding more. I beat myself up for not being able to do what I once could. The estrogen decline had a profound impact on many of my systems. I had to go to 4 doctors to get real help. I think many women need to hear what you’re saying. Thank you!!!

This is the problem that I have. Connective tissues. I've never been much of an exerciser because I've always worked outside and my body feels best when I am moving but I am 63 years old and I am so sore after working, not when I'm working... I'm trying to figure this all out.

Keep testing… you’re looking for the edge.. by backing way out.. then gradually adding to the point you don’t go over it.

I am definitely interested in your approach. I’m 58 and going to be doing a reset after taking time off from plantar fasciitis and running around after a new puppy. Fasciitis is still an issue but I’m working with a podiatrist. Prior to this, was working out to exercise videos, which I like to do & want to continue with, but I’d like to know the best path forward for me….but I’d rather work on my own and not a trainer. How do I put together a program for myself, (I have sleep issues and friggin’ hot flashes still ) using your advice? I like the your approach on workout choices if you don’t get enough sleep… but what would be best for me in those situations ? I see the Mayo Clinic has a book for women exercising after 50. Do you recommend it? Do you have a workout planner guide or book, in order to adapt this to individual needs? I find you and your channel very supportive and inspiring!

I don't see why workouts should change with age muscle is muscle?...... I don't like Joe Wicks workouts what does he know he is a celebrity and only interested in getting more followers so he will hop onto any subject that's current

BEcause your hormones do. Significantly. So if you did the same type of workouts you used to.. if you weren't following good science, chances are you do need to change. But it's less about exercises.. except we have to favor major muscles, we need more volume, we need more recovery, and time of day matters significantly more.
