I had regular appointments with a nutritionist at my physician’s office for a year and faithfully kept a food diary. I did all the right things but my weight kept climbing, as did the bad news with my blood work. Earlier this year, my A1C had risen to 5.9, my cholesterol level hit 289, my resting heart rate was 74, my BMI hit 34, and my blood pressure had drifted into high levels. My physician determined that I was pre diabetic and that diet/exercise were not cutting it. She advised me to start Zepbound. It’s 5 months later and all my metrics are dropping. My BMI is down to 31, my resting heart rate is 66, my blood pressure is within normal range. I’ll get my A1C and cholesterol checked in 2 months. AND, with 20 pounds off my body it’s significantly easier for me to work out, thus increasing my fitness even more. Both my doctor and I are thrilled with the impact on my overall health. Just one correction (as someone who works in biotech/pharma), Ozempic is for diabetes. Wegovy is for weight loss. Moujaro is for diabetes. Zepbound is for weight loss.

I am 64 and have been on Zepbound 2.5 since January, down 50 pounds and almost at goal. Last MD appt was very good with labs and BP within normal limits. My BMI is 24. My MD wants me to wean off now. My lifestyle changes have become routine at this point so I think I can keep the weight off on my own. I will continue to use my food diary as it has been instrumental in helping me with accountability. I just started resistance training at my gym and am starting to notice small changes in my arms and back. I love the way I look and feel. I never want to be obese again. 🎉

Hi Debra, thank you for this. I am 54 years old and I have had Type 1 diabetes for almost 43 years. I take excellent care of myself, training (strength and cardio) 3-4 times a week and walk a lot. I was developing insulin resistance after all these years which is why Ozempic was prescribed to me. I have not lost weight, nor gained more, but I now actually feel full after a meal and THAT has changed my life. :) Like a tension has disappeared. Long-time diabetics need this medication to sustain optimal absorption of their insulin after 30 years+ life as a T1D. Less cardio vascular complications as well for us and the weight loss was an unexpected finding. :) Wishing everyone here a healthy, happy life. Thanks for promoting this for all of us.

I've been on a glp1 for 8 months and have lost 30 lbs. Slower loss than a lot of people taking it, but that's ok. Working towards losing 15 more. I've had hashimotos for 25 years and on synthroid, and high cholesterol. Because of thyroid issues, it has been very difficult to lose weight. My doctor wanted me to take statins, but I would rather try to bring it down by losing weight. I do prioritize eating protein by getting at least 110g daily. I am now starting to use weights at home. I'm 64yo.

Great job on the weight. I’m in the slow and steady GLP-1 club too. My doctor has actually said it’s a better way to lose weight on these drugs as it’s not as much of a shock to your body. My doctor told me these medications were my last shot at getting my blood work in normal ranges before she starts prescribing me statins. I haven’t had my cholesterol retested yet, but my blood pressure and resting heart rate are both down dramatically. Good luck to you on your journey! I hope you continue to see positive results!

Can’t believe I’m running across this video today. I have been on the GLP1 shot for 2 months at the minimum .25 dose. I’ve lost 12 lbs in 2 months but the side effects of nausea and indigestion are so yucky I am thinking of stopping permanently. I know I’m not eating enough. Before I quit completely, I may try cutting the dose in half now.

Sorry to hear you’re having those side effects. This info might not be helpful at all but: 1. I get nausea for two reasons. I’m either dehydrated or hungry. Drinking water doesn’t cut it once I’m feeling the effects of dehydration. When that happens, electrolytes will make the nausea go away. If that doesn’t work, I’ll try eating a light snack. 2. If it’s not dehydration or nausea, I have heard some people comment on the subreddits for these drugs that they find alkaline water helps them with both the nausea and the indigestion. That’s very anecdotal info, I couldn’t find any data that scientifically supports those claims. But I’ve seen a number of people swear by the alkaline version of smart water.

@@theoddcottage thank you for that info. I will definitely try them. I probably am dehydrated to begin with so I will start with the electrolytes. TY again for suggesting these. Half dose it is. !!

Tapering off is smart. Many also cycle… weeks on, then off. Find a practitioner who will do it!

These drugs come with one horrific side effect that very few seem to talk about and it's hair loss. It's not from "lack of protein", "rapid" weight loss or insufficient nutrients. A few doctors, very few, are sounding the alarm that the drugs are causing inflammation and apoptosis of the hair follicles. In my opinion, we need to be more honest about this side effect,. I would want to know if a drug could cause permanent hair loss before I took it. Some women don't care if they lose their hair which is great but many others do.

If you are at full dose yes. Most do and it’s 100 fat. So low dose (micro) with good lifestyle habits eleviate that.
