I'm not in the market for an ice bath, but enjoyed watching. Here in Canada you just have to fill the tub with the water from the faucet and it will be pretty close to freezing, and dirt cheap by comparison (you should move here). You do a good job with your b-roll, especially when you show yourself climbing into the barrel, it blew my mind.
i'm so jealous!! yeah my friend who lives in Montreal puts his chiller away for the winter because it's absolutely not necessary haha. and thanks for the feedback on the b-roll -- those shots were so hard to get (and not very flattering), but such is life!! appreciate the love!
Thank you for the great content you create and a bigger thank you for being vulnerable to your audience! Bigger and better things await in the new year and future for you! Much love! ❤
thank you so much, Kevin!! this may have been one of the hardest videos to make because i've never wanted to be vulnerable -- and always kept my personal and professional lives separate. but that just wasn't serving me anymore, so i finally let myself be free to just be me. thank you for the feedback and best wishes to you for the new year as well
well this comment just put me in a good mood...so THANK YOU! i appreciate the feedback and it's comments like these that remind me of WHY I do what I do
thanks so much!! if you haven't already, definitely check out the Huberman Lab episode on cold therapy! hubermanlab.com/using-deliberate-cold-exposure-for-health-and-performance/
I just took a swim in cold North Sea on coasts of Aberdeen, 7 degrees Celsius for 7 nice minutes. Loved it and the after effect of calmness and focus. Investigation on youtube how to implement this as my daily routine at home in Croatia. Funny thing is I also just recently ended a 10 yeras relationship, so we have some things in common. I like DIY ideo of Renovation Dan of turning a industrial IBC plastic tank to fancy barrel. Thank you for this video, wish you all the best!
Thank you so much!! Hawaii was just a quick trip -- I'm back in the Bay...at least for now! But might be heading out on some nomadic explorations in the upcoming year; we'll see!!
very clever idea! i tried throwing some ice packs in the tub, but it ended up making the barrel smell horrible. but maybe ice bottles are different? i'll have to give that one a try!
"A reset button" is such a good term for a cold plunge - be it barrel, sea or shower. Thank you for sharing both your experience and personal situation. Much respect!
If you have a hook up for a washing machine, then you have a closer spigot. if you are going to use it often, I would put in a splitter so you can leave your washing machine hooked up all the time.
The chest freezer is the most economical option. And quiet. Some of the professional cold plunges may feel colder with circulation. Your point of standing up is enlightening!
Tears 😢 Proud of you 🙌🏻 Just found your channel, you’re amazing! Sounds like you narrowly avoided a disaster, tho I’m sure it may not feel like that now. Can see how bright your light is, don’t put up with anyone dimming it 🙏🏻
thank you so much, Matt! it was so hard to see that at first, but you're totally right. the fire is ignited and nothing (and no ONE) can every take that away! lots of love and thanks for watching
Matt -- thank you so much! I was so hesitant to open up and share some of the real stuff happening behind the scenes. but sometimes you just have to take a risk and open up...and i felt such a weight lifted when i did! Have a great new year and thanks for watching
I built my own with a stock tank and a chiller. I insulated it and would like to add a frame someday. But I'm in 2 grand and I think it is worth it for the mental health benefits I experienced alone. I am not as quick to anger (still something I struggle with from time to time especially at work) my anxiety is pretty much none existent. And my mind is clearer. But everyone is different. Try cold showers first before you drop a couple grand.
I mean it’s nice looking, it’s high quality and they seem to have really great customer service and warranty, but besides that an marketing you are correct it does seem overpriced. Especially since it’s not insulated. I have a friend that bought one of those green garbage bins and plugged up the holes and he swears by it lol
@@katie_moore you are very welcome! I appreciate your dedication, and how much effort you put into educating the community. You deserve it and so much more. Blessings! - Cameron
Awesome review as always! The parts about actually owning them are sooo helpful. Many reviewers just talk about the product itself, but that's only half the story. And damn, I'm sorry you're going through such a difficult time. That level of betrayal and shock is way more than anyone should have to go through. It may take some time, but this will fade to a footnote in your future successful and happy life!
i appreciate it so much! it's been an emotional whirlwind for sure, but every day is getting a bit easier. And comments like these mean so much and make all the difference
Question - how much does the barrel weigh when full? Is this something to be concerned about when placing it on a balcony that wasn’t designed for this type of point load?
Thank you so much, Allen!! I've been so inspired by that saying from a podcast I've been listening to with the same name. Because it IS true and it's a nice reminder that we can all push through the most difficult of times. Wishing you and the family all the best for the New Year
Why can’t a person just buy a used ibc container for $50, cut the top off and use that? Another $200 for some nice wood and insulation and it’s better than just a barrel. Isn’t it?
totally doable! maybe a little more work, but i'd say give it a go! also here's some inspiration to help you get started: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Hgj2-x0SUuA.html
Funny how I took a cold shower this morning and drinking Kona Coffee now as this alert came in for this video. As a winner of Kona coffee from Kaie Type A, I am a forever fan and subscriber. While I can treat myself to Kona Coffee, I can't afford these ice bath options. Bless you for always being on the cutting edge with all this stuff. As for Ice baths, I think I'll head outside for a budget shower when this bomb cyclone passes through You Are Amazing and will get over that terrible relationship issue. Extremely sorry to hear that, but it is better that it is over than it continuing and probably getting worse. Keep that strong positive energy that we love. There is only one Katie Type A, and we are extremely lucky to have you. Happy Holidays!!!
Ahhh!! The Kona coffee!! I still dream about that coffee some days; nothing like it! I totally agree that if it's not in your budget, start with a cold shower or some ice in the tub. And sometimes local wellness centers have ice baths that you can try for a relatively low fee. Thanks again for the feedback and wishing you all the best (and more Kona coffee in your future!) for the New Year
hahaha! i hear you! i lived in Hawaii for a year and so i became super sensitized to the cold since it's always so hot (and the shower water only gets down to like 70 degrees!!)
Looking at that thing, I struggle to find $5k in parts. Also $1200 for a plastic barrel and a stool ? How is it different from a $200 55gallon drum from Home Depot ?
@@-CrampedStyle- I’d recommend Wim Hofs first appearance on Joe Rogan. He has sat through multiple studies and also trained many others to sit through study and broadcast a result. End of day, it’s likely all mind over matter, but the cold does instantly snap you out of whatever stress you think you have, as your body fighting for what feels like survival takes precedent. From there, you begin to understand the control you have. The cold is your teacher as much as it is a healer, maybe more so a teacher in my experience.
hey!! i would recommend checking out this Huberman episode and all the associated articles in this link: hubermanlab.com/using-deliberate-cold-exposure-for-health-and-performance also maybe check out the work Susanna Søberg has been doing in Denmark on this research: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8111330/
Thank you for sharing and telling your story. I think we all find hot/cold therapy for different reasons and along the way we discover a bigger reward. I really appreciate this video. It really hits home for me.
You can buy a Python hose which is used for aquariums. Hooks up not your sink if you have the correct fitting and it fills and removes water like a champ!
yes!! coming out next week! sneak peak: i do love the higher dose sauna blanket as a more budget-friendly option and the sunlighten for the full infrared experience.
