Is this $2000 Ha Long Bay LUXURY CRUISE really worth it? (Vietnam) 🇻🇳 

Holy cow, is that a cabin or a resort room??? And the view !!! That private beach, mama mia !!! We were there last summer and we caught our 2 computer/tech/iphone addicted teenagers sitting on our cabin's balcony staring into the bay for a good 10 minutes straight, without saying a word, just taking in Mother Nature's best work. We still can't get over how beautiful Ha Long Bay was and how fun and friendly the Vietnamese crew were on our boat.

You "finally made it to Halong Bay!" - along with WAYYY too many others! One of the most overrun tourist traps in the world. I did a 3D/2N in November, 2022 on another "luxury" line and, with a one-step stateroom upgrade, the fare was $490 single/$770 couple (USD.) Anyway, calling it a "cruise" is a complete misnomer. We only moved to pick up and drop off passengers. I estimate we were actually underway less than 30 minutes out of the three days (more like 2¼) we were out. The rest of the time, one is swinging at anchor looking at the same scenery. Honestly, one can get the same Halong experience on a single-day cruise for hundreds of dollars less. And, crowded! We were surrounded the first day with 17 other similarly sized vessels. The second day, 18. Further, probably due to excessive afternoon heat, everyone does the same activities, kayaking, village, beach (er, "sandbar") visits, at the same time. About as fun and relaxing as rush hour on a Los Angeles freeway. Anyway, in a nutshell, see Halong (or Lan Ha - they're identical and, by the way, Lan Ha is NOT quieter! The 3D/2N ships also traverse Lan Ha, so same overcrowding situation), but take a day cruise. P.S. Others have complained about the amount of trash in Halong, but that wasn't our experience.

Vietnamese fishermen come to Malaysia to illegally fish. Statistics have shown 1000 ships confiscated, arrested 10,000 people since several years ago. This is fact and serious until our pm had to speak to their president in APEC recently. Marine life is hard to find there due to overfishing.
