From Halong city you go by bus on express way (120km/h) to Vietnam- China land border then you come China very easy in some days without any Visa ( make a doccuments to come China with a little fee) . I am in Vietnam I come to China by land border 1 time

You travelled Vietnam in the wrong direction, you should have gone Hanoi to HCMC then up to Danang & Hoi an, it's rainy season in central Vietnam until January. And you missed all the amazing Vietnamese dishes that are native to Hoi an, you could have gone to Butlins!😉
