You guys seem to like the songs from Ray Of Light. You should do an entire album reaction. Or another similar one is "Drowned World/Substitute for Love" and also "Time Stood Still" (not from the album but very similar). I also think you'll like older ballads like "You'll See," "Live to Tell," and "Oh Father." But I fully support "Papa Don't Preach" as the next reaction, since she has so many different sounds/styles that are worth discovering.
That’s an interesting point. It definitely was ahead of it’s time sonically. I like that you both really pay attention to the nuances. M isn’t your run of the mill pop star, she has depth, even though sometimes she gets in her own way with some of her antics. I appreciate the reaction ❤️💪🏻
Madonna writes these songs in a sort of abstract way so that it can apply in different ways to the listener. It could be a bout a relationship or any part of your life that ends and that you grow from if you can accept the lesson.
Another great reaction! Glad you are appreciating some of her many ballads,. She really has a way of making you feel the emotions in the songs and there is always a story. This song is basically about leaving a toxic relationship and how difficult it can be. As you get into more of her music you will see just how versatile and diverse she can be as an artist. Other ballads you may want to check, out are: “This Used To Be My Playground”, “Oh Father”, “Live To Tell”, “Rain”, “Take A Bow” and the follow up “You’ll See”👍
OMG... beautiful song with a beautiful vídeo. ... Powerful lyrics: "Freedom comes when you learn to let go...Learn to say goodbye... I yearn to say goodbye" ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Another vote for "Oh Father" here. It's one of the most underrated songs ever. A masterpiece in music, story, and video. It also gets better and better the more often you listen to it. It's astounding work.
ALWAYS love your Madonna's reactions! The lyrics for this song are the follow-up to Frozen. In Frozen she asks him to open his heart; she sings: "Mmm, if I could melt your heart" "You're frozen when your heart's not open " In the The Power Of Goodbye she sings "Your heart is not open, so I must go". That's why in the album Frozen, track 9, is followed by The Power Of Goodbye, track 10.
I'm so happy you loved it. It reminds me of my first listening to this masterpiece. It's definitely in my Top 10 of all Madonna songs. And it reached number 4 in my country... 😊
This came out in 1998 with the Ray of light Album, which also includes Frozen. She waws definitely ahead of her time. I'm very exited for Papa don't preach next week! it's an absolute classic. Great reaction! keep it going guys.
Love your Madonna reactions...she is incredibly versatile and creative, visually, musically and lyrically.. She has, an incredible body of work.. Her live shows, and theatrical orientation of her music, lyrics, and themes offer even more of a story and further element to her artistry. You are in for a ride
This video was an homage to the 1940's movie (staring Joan Crawford) Humoresque. Madonna plays the Joan character dealing with a tragic break up. In the actual movie Joan's character commits suicide by drowning herself in the sea, whereas we see Madonna on the banks of the beach reflecting and not going through with killing herself over her lost love.
Madonna is the Queen of Ballads. Check out "Rain", "Oh Father", "Live to Tell" "Secret", "Take a Bow", "You'll See", "Crazy for You", "This Used to be My Playground", "Frozen", etc.
*great reaction to a brilliantly written & produced song. yes its a breakup song. it has some dark undertones. and it was from Ray of Light, like Frozen... an album that reinvigorated her musical side after Evita & her pregnancy. and boy did she come back with a banger! it, like Like A Prayer, is pop perfection. but ROL took it a step further thanks to william orbits "bubbles & squeaks"... amazing synth work that you mentioned so many times. it fills that whole album & its bloody brilliant!* *you should do (after papa dont preach of course)... Dress You up, open your heart, Into the groove, express yourself. some of her classic dance songs that made her an icon. then you can slow it down with Oh father which is a must see... & I think youll like This Used To Be My Playground.* *_THEN_** you can move into the more sexually charged years. get prepped for that!*
G'day Franky Speaking it's Steven from Down Under, Yesss Trump is a bloody traitor and a laughing stock to the entire world, the Biden administration has inherited a mess, very sad to the the largest and greatest democracy on Earth in this position. I couldn't agree more with your insight and comments about the most successful female pop artist in history. All hail the Queen of Pop!
@@stevenalexander403 thanks! if you think it looks bad from the outside, i can assure you its 10 times worse in the States. crazy scary times. thank the universe for Madonna!
From what I remember, madonna was very inspired from her new found religion at this era. In Buddhism/Taoism there is a "power of letting go" w/c means if you want to achieve freedom and peace of mind you have to dettach yourself from anything material.
G'day it's Steven from Down Under again Definitely a beautiful song, when my marriage was ending I found myself listening to this song regularly. All hail the Queen of Pop!
Great Madonna reactions! After papa don’t preach you definitely need to watch deeper and deeper. A lot of her famous friends are in the video. And plus it’s a great song and amazing video!
i swear most of the people in the comments are just shoutin' out their favorite madonna songs without taking your reactions and tastes into consideration and it drives absolutely bananas... i promise you will enjoy something about any of the following music videos: "downed world/subsistute for love" "don't tell me" "hollywood" "i want you ft. massive attack" or any of these original album cuts: "paradise (not for me)" "what it feels like for a girl (album version)" "gone" "x-static process" "get together" "nothing really matters" "nothing fails"
I’ve been a Madonna fan since she began her singing career in the 1980s. It’s really cool to see young people of today show an interest and appreciation for Madonna’s music.
The character Madonna plays in the video was contemplating suicide by walking into the ocean, but eventually stopped herself. It symbolizes wanting to end a relationship, but then changing one's mind due to how much love there is that makes it hard to walk away from an unfulfilled relationship.
Another great Madonna reaction. Really looking forward to "Papa Don't Preach". If you're looking for more amazing ballads try "Take a Bow" and "Live to Tell" on for size. You won't regret it.
Now you HAVE do react to RAIN...That video is stunning, it was actually shot in black and white and later hand-painted in the studio. The video was released in 1993 as Erotica's 5th single. The song was written and produced by Madonna and Shep Pettibone.
Please react to madonna drowned world substitute for love video from the same album. The video caused some controversy when the British press reported that it would feature scenes of Madonna’s car being chased by paparazzi on mopeds, concluding that it was a reference to the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, the previous year.
You guys have done one of the best Madonna reactions over ever seen!!!! You both are genuinely interested in not only the video but song. Thank you! This is in my top three Madonna songs of all time!!! This video also was inspired by a film with Joan Crawford. The beach scene is almost exact
This album will blow your senses into outer space!!! I’m not kidding. Put on some great headphones or ear buds, crank the volume up, start with track one “Drowned World/Substitute For Love” The album Ray Of Light is a legacy piece of art.
a true masterpiece! the song was inspired by and dedicated to princess Diana and her leaving from this dimension. the idea is that someone elses departure from this word is the strongest way to say good bye. Theres nothing left to do.
Madonna was also in her spiritual phase at the time of Ray of Light, drawing a lot of inspiration from Buddhism and Hinduism in her lyrics. The power of goodbye is to attain total detachment from the world, never to be reincarnated again. A hint is the line "you wanna go higher". When an old soul has nothing more to crave from this world, nothing left to try, no more places to hide, nothing left to lose, no more hearts to bruce... well you get the point.
Nothing Really Matters is another awesome song from the same album as Frozen and Power of Goodbye, her best album IMO. Ray of Light is it’s name and the title track is also AWESOME from the album too, and another hit.
Madonna has awesome ballads. She may not have the greatest voice but she sings with so much emotion. Madonna ballads you should react too are; Live to tell Crazy for you Oh father This use to be my playground Rain I’ll remember Take a bow You’ll see Awesome classic ballads
I thought about this for quite some time, before I thought I throw it out there to you guys, everything about me doing a reaction and then extended thoughts instead of the aftershow making people wait to the next day but maybe do an extended after show. I know it's trying to get people to come back and get new people in the video but a lot of people tend to forget or don't end up watching it. Although I can't say that because I don't know what the the viewer ship is in The aftershow, I just thought it'd be more convenient to have it all in one. One I mean I love the after show. I would love it more if it were sooner than the next day lol
i may end up dropping it earlier, but i do the aftershow so that people who just want the reaction can have that, and those who want the breakdown can have it as well!
@@TylerCreatesContent I knew you had a master plan of action with it. That's why I was thinking about combining it, but I thought that afterwards, and I've seen a lot of other reaction channels to the reaction and then their opinions and thoughts right after it in the same video. But I love you guys with or without an aftershow lol
@@TylerCreatesContent I made a comment in another video. I think it was the ABBA Thank You For The Music reaction that you guys should try and react to the UK pop group Steps... I really think you and Marissa would love them tbh... They are so good and infectious, catchy and really harmonically driven
