"Power of Good-Bye" is the sequel/continuation for Frozen (as it follows it in the album too), even the lyric "Your heart's not open" is literally from Frozen, and other lyrics like "The spell has been broken" are very reminiscent of the music video, given its witchy vibes and lyrics as well, so yeah, it continue to reference that song. Obviously now, the song is about finding the strength after getting out of a relationship. I love Madonna's ballads so much! And this one especially are among my favorites, overall, the Ray of Light era and ballads were the best thing we got after her ballads compilation album that she released three years prior to this. I the love green-blue and water filter used here in the music video, and Madonna looks beautiful as ever. 💚💙 Happy belated Madonna Monday, gurl ❤Hope you're doing fine :) #FinallyEnoughLove
Thank you SOOO Much, Luis!!! 😁🥰😁 These "Madonna Monday" Reactions truly have been SUCH a fun weekly routine for me! Haha so thank you so much for watching & commenting, Babe!!! ♥️🥰😁
The chess game is a metaphor for their/a relationship, her rage quitting is her trying to end the relationship. He doesn't want it to end and grabs her, she gives in for a bit when they kiss, but then she finally says goodbye. "You were my lesson I had to learn"
Ray of Light is my favorite Album of hers. Frozen, Nothings Really Matters and Power of goodbye are her black hair whole life deep hits she NAILED with all Audience at the time.
So much to say about this video. The beach scene is an homage to a Joan Crawford movie from the 1940’s “Humoresque” . Joan’s character drowns herself in the ocean due to a failed love affair. M survives (thankfully) but so much emotion. The theme is more of a “washing away of the bad relationship vibes”. I just love the beach theme throughout, the color, the wave effects, her pearl jewelry. And of course the song is stunning “powerful “ .
Thank you SO much, John!! 🥰😁🥰 New Madonna Reactions are posted every "Madonna Monday" @ 1PM EST! I hope that I'll see you in the comments more often too!! Haha 🥰😁🥰
The beach walking scene is a nod to the 1946 Joan Crawford film "Humoresque" in which Crawford's character drowns herself. I think the video is meant to set up that ambiguity when the fisherman on the beach looks up and Madonna is gone and we see her shoes in the surf. But it's resolved at the end when we find her sitting alone and very much alive.
Yeah!! That's what my Friend told me after filming my Reaction! How crazy is that!! 😮 I literally never would have came to that conclusion otherwise... I wonder why it wasn't made to be more clear... 🤔🤔🤔 Lol
It's Monday!!!!! yay! Hello darling. Well I agree this is a beautiful ballad from M. Haunting, melodic, and such great production on there. The whole Ray of Light album is STUNNING! The video is ok, but it is shot beautifully. M looks gorgeous too. Love her with long dark hair. So reminicent of the Like A Prayer era. Hope all is well on your end my friend!
Ray of Light was just an amazing era, the visuals, lyrics, sounds, vocals - everything was just perfect in my opinion. It will always be one of my favourite albums. This song is just beautiful and the lyrics so powerful "freedom comes when you learn to let go, creation comes when you learn to say no." So true. Great reaction Madam :)
Happy belated birthday to you! I know you're such a warrior to go through what you have gone through, I have type 1 diabetes since I was 14 years old and it's been a struggle recently I was in the hospital and I'm still recuperating, but your videos always bring me smiles! The video kind of follows along with the song if you remember in the beginning she sings your heart is not open so I must go, the spell has been broken I loved you so so it's basically a breakup song although you could interpret it as letting go of somebody who has passed away but I think she was trying to make a video that was more alongside what a breakup feels like. I also think the game of chess is how she wanted to symbolize the push and pull of a relationship that is difficult. Madonna likes to use a lot of symbolism in her music videos but I think this is a beautiful song however you want to interpret it. You should listen to the demo version of this song it's incredible!
Very nicely done video, a lot of these videos I hadn't seen since she first released it - but thanks for reacting to it. My fave is still Take a Bow, but beautiful song.
the final part of the video (that of the beach) was taken from an ancient black and white film where the protagonist of the film kills herself by jumping into the sea after a disappointment in love, while madonna seems to do it but then she finds herself sitting on the beach
I definitely think that for next week your live performance reaction should be to express yourself/deeper and deeper from the girlie show. She Fucken werks it! You will love it.
Written by Madonna and Rick Nowels. Among Rick Nowels other writing and production credits are songs recorded by Stevie Nicks, Belinda Carlisle, Kim Wilde, Chynna Philips, Lana Del Rey,....
Music can be interpreted differently. It could be a relationship ending or death or even something different. Leaves the listener to decide for themselves
Yup!!! Gotta love Music's ability to be interpreted by the listener! 😍 Makes for so many creative & beautiful ways of listening to Music! ♥️ Thanks again for watching & commenting, Travis!! 🥰
